Abstract
In this research, a new approach based on magnetic electrodes has been developed for the determination of per-fluorooctane sulfonic acid (PSOF). Zinc and Titanium-based Metal-organic framework (MOF) was synthesized and used with polypyrrole as a conductive polymer for preparation of the absorbent to achieve the best performance for electrochemical application. The response of the electrode for determination of the PFOS was affected and optimized by different factors such as buffer solution, pH of the solution, amount of absorbent, extraction time of absorbent, accumulation time, as well as the Square Wave Voltammetry (SWV) instrumental parameters including voltage step, pulse amplitude, frequency and resting time. In the optimum condition, the response of the Zn/Ti/C-MOF-magnetic molecular imprinting polymer/carbon paste electrode (MOFMMIP/CPE) has increased logarithmically by increasing the concentration in the range of 0.002-165 μM by the limit of detection (LOD) of 0.7 nM. The obtained percentage of Recovery (96.00-104.14 %), Bias (-4.00 - 4.14 %) and Relative Standard Deviation (RSD) (1.89-3.74 %) for determination of the PFOS in real and spiked tap water, river water and well water samples demonstrates that the proposed method has an acceptable precision. The comparison between the gained data by the presented method and High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) showed that the presented method has high accuracy.

All-solid-state paper-based potentiometric combined sensor modified with reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and molecularly imprinted polymer for monitoring losartan drug in pharmaceuticals and biological samples. Talanta 2023; 253:123907. Abstract
A cost-effective, highly selective and sensitive paper-based potentiometric combined sensor for losartan potassium drug (LOS) is fabricated, characterized and used for the drug monitoring. The sensor consists of 2 strips of filter paper (20 × 5 mm each) as platform, each imprinted with 4 mm diameter circular spot of carbon. One carbon spot is covered by a reduced graphene oxide (rGO) for use as a substrate for the recognition sensor and the other without rGO is used for the reference electrode. LOS molecularly imprinted drug polymer (MIP) is applied onto the graphene oxide containing strip to act as a drug recognition sensing material and a solid-state polyvinyl butyral (PVB) is applied onto the second carbon spot to act as a reference electrode. Performance characteristics of the combined sensor are examined with chronopotentiometry (CP) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Increase effect of rGO on the interfacial double-layer capacitance of the sensing membrane and consequently on the potential stability is confirmed. The developed combined sensor (strip cell) displays a Nernstian slope of -58.2 ± 0.3 mV/decade (R2 = 0.9994) over the linear range 8.5 × 10-7 - 6.9 × 10-2 M with a detection limit of 2.7 ± 0.3 × 10-7 M. The sensor shows remarkable selectivity toward various related compounds especially those commonly used by the COVID-19 patients such as paracetamol, ascorbic acid and dextromethorphan. The assay method is validated and proved to be satisfactory for direct potentiometric determination of LOS-K in some pharmaceutical formulations and in spiked human urine samples. An average recovery of 96.3 ± 0.3-98.7 ± 0.6% of the nominal or spiked concentration and a mean relative standard deviation of ±0.6% are obtained. The use of an indicating and a reference electrodes combined into a single flexible disposable paper platform enables applications to a minimum sample volume due to the close proximity of the responsive membrane and the liquid junction. The efficiency of the proposed sensor in complex urine matrix suggests its application in hospitals for rapid diagnosis of overdose patients and for quality control/quality assurance tests in pharmaceutical industry.

Abstract
The use of electrochemical sensors offers a simple, affordable solution with great reliability. Magnesium is a mineral that the body requires to function properly. It encourages preserving a stable pulse, strong bones, and healthy blood pressure. Herein, a novel ion-selective electrode using esomeprazole magnesium trihydrate as an ion-association complex was developed for magnesium(ii) ion determination in mineral water, drug substances, and pharmaceutical formulations. The electrode response was optimized in terms of plasticizer type, ion exchanger concentration, and membrane composition. To find the best sensor combination, the initial optimization research was performed using eight different sensors. A membrane containing 20% esomeprazole magnesium trihydrate, 36% carbon, and 44% o-Nitrophenyl Octyl Ether (NPOE) as a plasticizer yielded the best potentiometric response. The developed sensor demonstrated a Nernstian response with a slope of 29.93 ± 0.1 mV per decade in the concentration range of 1.41 × 10-5 mol L-1 to 1 × 10-2 mol L-1. Within a pH range of 5-8, it had a low detection limit of 4.13 × 10-6 mol L-1. When compared to the official method, there are no statistically significant differences.

Abstract
The toxic chemical warfare agents (CWAs) are extremely harmful to the living organisms. Their efficient detection and removal in a limited time span are essential for the human health and environmental security. Twisted nanographenes have great applications in the fields of energy storage and optoelectronics, but their use as sensors is rarely described. Therefore, we have explored the sensitivity and selectivity of twisted nanographene analogues (C32H16, C64H32) towards selected toxic CWAs, including phosgene, thiophosgene and formaldehyde. The interaction between CWAs and twisted nanographenes is mainly interpreted by considering the optimized geometries, adsorption energies, natural bond orbital (NBO), frontier molecular orbital (FMO), non-covalent interaction (NCI) and quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) analyses. The structural geometries show that the central octagon of twisted nanographenes is the most favorable site of interaction. The interaction energies reveal the physisorption of selected CWAs on tNGs surface. The average energy gap change (%EH-La) and % sensitivity are quantitatively determined to evaluate the sensing capability of the twisted nanographenes. Among the selected CWAs molecules, the sensitivity of tNG analogues (C32H16 and C64H32) is superior towards thiophosgene (ThP), which is revealed by the high interaction energies of -8.19 and - 12.17 kcal/mol, respectively. This theoretical study will help experimentalists to devise novel sensors based on twisted nanographenes for the detection of toxic CWAs which may also work efficiently under the humid conditions.

Abstract
In this research, a paste containing ZrO2-CuO-CeO2 ternary nanocomposite and graphene (Gr) was used in constructing a carbon paste sensor for monitoring biomolecules including dopamine (Dop), serotonin (Ser) and tryptophan (Trp). The scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were utilized for ZrO2-CuO-CeO2 ternary nanocomposite characterization. The obtained data show that, the ZrO2-CuO-CeO2/Gr and synergetic effect of using these three-metal oxide nanoparticles, could effectively improve the electron transfer kinetic and exhibit a high electrocatalytic activity, making it serve as a powerful tool for biomolecules analysis. The differential pulse (DP) and cycle voltammetry (CV) methods were applied for investigating electrochemical treatment of the analytes. In comparison to all of the previous voltammetric reports, this research has the lowest detection limit and widest linear range. The calibration curves in the optimum conditions were linear over the range of 0.008-7.2 and 7.2-185 μM for Dop, 0.008-7.9 and 7.9-205 μM for Ser and 0.009-8.6 and 8.6-194 μM for Trp. The calculated limit of detection (LOD) was 3.09, 3.49 and 5.32 nM for Dop, Ser and Trp, respectively. The applicability of this sensing device was tested by monitoring Dop, Ser and Trp in the human urine and plasma samples. The recovery percentage of the analysis in the real samples was between 95.6 and 104.74; also, the data of determination of Dop, Ser and Trp with ZrO2-CuO-CeO2/Gr/CPE was well close to HPLC data. The obtained result demonstrates that the ZrO2-CuO-CeO2/Gr/CPE has good selectivity, stability, reproducibility, and repeatability, and can be used for the routine analysis of Dop, Ser and Trp.

Abstract
Molecular imprinted polymers are custom made materials with specific recognition sites for a target molecule. Their specificity and the variety of materials and physical shapes in which they can be fabricated make them ideal components for sensing platforms. Despite their excellent properties, MIP-based sensors have rarely left the academic laboratory environment. This work presents a comprehensive review of recent reports in the environmental and biomedical fields, with a focus on electrochemical and optical signaling mechanisms. The discussion aims to identify knowledge gaps that hinder the translation of MIP-based technology from research laboratories to commercialization.

Abstract
The analytical performance of sensitive and cost-effective electrochemical sensors based on ionic liquids (ILs) with the bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide anion, [NTf2]-, and the imidazolium cation with different alkyl chain lengths for electrochemical oxidation of verapamil (VER) was investigated. 1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ([EMIM][NTf2]), 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ([BMIM][NTf2]) and 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ([HMIM][NTf2]) were studied as possible materials for modification of a carbon paste electrode (CPE) for trace-level determination of VER. The experimental parameters including selection of the working electrode, the pH of working media, and the amount of CPE modifiers were investigated. Among them, the [EMIM][NTf2]-CPE with 4.3 wt% of IL was selected as the most appropriate for the square wave voltammetric (SWV) determination of VER at pH 5.0. Cyclic voltammetric studies showed that the electrochemical oxidation of VER was adsorption controlled. Consequently, the square wave adsorptive stripping voltammetric (SW-AdSV) parameters were optimized with Eacc = -0.4 V and tacc = 180 s as the most suitable for accumulation of VER on the electrode surface. The electroanalytical performance of the [EMIM][NTf2]-CPE was further improved by its in situ electrochemical modification with β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) and the linear concentration range of VER was from 0.006 to 0.129 μg mL-1; the relative standard deviation did not exceed 0.7%, and the evaluated limit of detection in model solution was 0.002 μg mL-1. The β-CD/[EMIM][NTf2]-CPE showed adequate selectivity towards VER in the presence of inorganic ions and interferents usually found in human urine. The proposed sensor was successfully applied for VER determination in a spiked human urine sample and pharmaceutical formulation with good repeatability and recovery.

Abstract
Background:
Hypertension is a major risk for morbidity and mortality, while hypertension
is associated with cardiovascular disease and organ damage. Recent research efforts have focused
on the development of highly selective angiotensin receptor blockers. In which losartan (LOS)
is considered as a new generation of an effective oral drug product against arterial hypertension.
Therefore, the determination of drugs in biological fluids, pharmaceuticals (tablets), and wastewater
is of critical importance for clinical applications, forensics, quality control, and environmental
protection that call for the development of analytical methods. Many ranges of methods such as spectroscopic
methods and chromatographic techniques have been developed to determine LOS in pharmaceutical
formulations and biological fluids. However, there are crucial interference problems in
these methods. For these reasons, more sensitive, desirable, portable, low-cost, simple, and selective
nanocomposite-based sensors are needed in terms of health safety. Nanomaterials such as reduced
graphene oxide, chitosan, and metal nanoparticles are used to improve the sensitivity in the
development of electrochemical sensors.
Objective:
In this study, a novel reduced graphene oxide (RGO), chitosan (Chit), gold (Au), and zinc
oxide (ZnO) nanocomposite (RGO/Chitosan/Au/ZnO) was synthesized and used to develop a sensitive
and efficient electrochemical sensor for LOS detection.
Methods:
Modification of electrode by RGO/Chit/Au/ZnO nanocomposite was performed in four
stages with GO (at -2.0 V for 150 s), Chitosan (at -3.0 V for 300 s), Au nanoparticles (at -0.4 V for
400 s), and Zn nanoflowers like (at -0.7 V for 1200 s). The RGO/Chitosan/Au/ZnO nanocomposite
was characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), X-ray diffraction
(XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR).
Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) and Differential Pulse Voltammetry (DPV) were used to detect LOS, and
the influence of pH value, scan rate, accumulation potential, and time also losartan concentration on
the performance of ZnO/Au/Chitosan/RGO/GCE were investigated. In order to investigate the selectivity
of the modified electrode for the determination of LOS, the effect of possible interfering
species was evaluated and showed that these species are not interferences. Also, the reproducibility
of the modified electrode was investigated and implying that the RGO/Chit/Au/ZnO nanocomposite
was highly reproducible.
Results:
The modified electrode was used as a sensor for the selective and sensitive determination of
LOS with a detection limit of 0.073 μM over the dynamic linear range of 0.5μM to 18.0 μM. In
addition, electrochemical oxidation of LOS was well recovered in pharmaceutical formulations.
Conclusion:
LOS is used to treat high blood pressure, taking into account the oxidation of this
compound, the use of electrochemical based sensors, ideally suited to a specific chemical species,
can be fully selectable and High-sensitivity answer is very important. In this study, the electrodes
with RGO/Chit/Au/ZnO nanocomposite were modified by the electrochemical method.
Nanocomposites were characterized by various methods such as FE-SEM, FT-IR, XRD, Raman, and
XPS. The electrocatalytic activity of the modified electrode was then investigated for measuring
LOS. According to the results of the modified electrode, high sensitivity, reproducibility, and
selectivity have been shown to oxidize this composition.

Abstract
Inflammatory diseases increase has recently sparked the research interest for drugs diagnostic tools development. At therapeutic doses, acetylsalicylic acid (ASA or aspirin) is widely used for these diseases' treatment. ASA overdoses can however give rise to adverse side effects including ulcers, gastric damage. Hence, development of simple, portable and sensitive methods for ASA detection is desirable. This paper reports aspirin analysis in urine, saliva and pharmaceutical tablet using an electrochemical sensor and a voltammetric electronic tongue (VE-Tongue). The electrochemical sensor was fabricated by self-assembling chitosan capped with gold nanoparticles (Cs + AuNPs) on a screen-printed carbon electrode (SPCE). It exhibits a logarithmic-linear relationship between its response and the ASA concentration in the range between 1 pg/mL and 1 μg/mL. A low detection limit (0.03 pg/mL), good selectivity against phenol and benzoic acid interference, and successful practical application were demonstrated. Qualitative analysis was performed using the VE-Tongue based unmodified metal electrodes combined with two chemometric approaches to classify urine samples spiked with different aspirin concentrations. Partial least squares (PLS) method provided prediction models obtained from the data of both devices with a regression correlation coefficient R2 = 0.99. Correspondingly, the SPCE/(Cs + AuNPs) electrochemical sensor and VE-Tongue could be viable tools for biological analysis of drugs.

Abstract
New solid-contact potentiometric sensors have been developed for hydrogen phosphate recognition on the basis of ionic liquids containing tetrasubstituted derivatives of thiacalix[4]arene in cone and 1,3-alternate conformations with trimethyl- and triethylammonium fragments at the lower rim substituents. The recognition of selected anions including carbonate, hydrogen phosphate, perchlorate, oxalate, picrate, and EDTA was conducted using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy with ferricyanide redox probe. For the potentiometric sensor assembling, the ionic liquids were stabilized by multiwalled carbon nanotubes and carbon black deposited on the glassy carbon electrode. The influence of support, steric factors and modification conditions on the sensor performance has been investigated. As was shown, potentiometric sensors developed make it possible to selectively determine hydrogen phosphate anion within the concentration range from 1 × 10−2 to 1 × 10−6 M and limit of detection of 2 × 10−7−1 × 10−6 M with unbiased selectivity coefficients varied from 1.2 × 10−1 to 1.0 × 10−8 (carbonate, acetate, oxalate, succinate, glutharate, glycolate, and malonate anions).

Abstract
Biosensors are a promising tool offering the possibility of low cost and fast analytical screening in point-of-care diagnostics and for on-site detection in the field. Most biosensors in routine use ensure their selectivity/specificity by including natural receptors as biorecognition element. These materials are however too expensive and hard to obtain for every biochemical molecule of interest in environmental and clinical practice. Molecularly imprinted polymers have emerged through time as an alternative to natural antibodies in biosensors. In theory, these materials are stable and robust, presenting much higher capacity to resist to harsher conditions of pH, temperature, pressure or organic solvents. In addition, these synthetic materials are much cheaper than their natural counterparts while offering equivalent affinity and sensitivity in the molecular recognition of the target analyte. Imprinting technology and biosensors have met quite recently, relying mostly on electrochemical detection and enabling a direct reading of different analytes, while promoting significant advances in various fields of use. Thus, this review encompasses such developments and describes a general overview for building promising biomimetic materials as biorecognition elements in electrochemical sensors. It includes different molecular imprinting strategies such as the choice of polymer material, imprinting methodology and assembly on the transduction platform. Their interface with the most recent nanostructured supports acting as standard conductive materials within electrochemical biomimetic sensors is pointed out.

Abstract
This work describes the development of a new sensor for simultaneous determination of tryptophan and melatonin. The proposed sensor was an ionic liquid carbon paste electrode modified with reduced graphene oxides decorated with SnO2-Co3O4 nanoparticles. The voltammetric oxidation of the analytes by the proposed sensor confirmed that the electrooxidation process undergoes a two-electron/one-proton reaction for melatonin and a two-electron/two-proton reaction for tryptophan in diffusion-controlled processes. Moreover, based on the excellent electrochemical properties of the modified electrode, a sensitive voltammetric method was used for individual and simultaneous determination of melatonin and tryptophan in the aqueous solutions. Under the optimized experimental conditions, a linear response obtained in the range of 0.02 to 6.00μmolL-1 with detection limits of 4.1 and 3.2nmolL-1 for melatonin and tryptophan, respectively. The prepared sensor possessed accurate and rapid response toward melatonin and tryptophan with a good sensitivity, selectivity, stability, and repeatability. Finally, the applicability of the proposed sensor was verified by evaluation of melatonin and tryptophan in various real samples including human serum and tablet samples.

Abstract
Recently, the nanostructured modified molecularly imprinting polymer has created a great attention in research field due to its excellent properties such as high surface to volume ratio, low cost, and easy preparation/handling. Among the nanostructured materials, the carbonaceous material such as 'graphene' has attracted the tremendous attention of researchers owing to their fascinating electrical, thermal and physical properties. In this review article, we have tried to explore as well as compile the role of graphene-based nanomaterials in the fabrication of imprinted polymers. In other words, herein the recent efforts made to introduce selectivity in graphene-based nanomaterials were tried collected together. The major concern of this review article is focused on the sensing devices fabricated via a combination of graphene, graphene@nanoparticles, graphene@carbon nanotubes and molecularly imprinted polymers. Additionally, the combination of graphene and quantum dots was also included to explore the fluorescence properties of zero-band-gap graphene.
