Abstract
Green surfactants, specifically alkyl glycosides and fatty alcohol ether carboxylic acids, are known for their biocompatibility, multiresponsiveness, and versatile applications, garnering significant attention in the realms of green and colloid chemistry. This study systematically investigated the mechanism underlying micelle formation within aqueous solutions comprising alcohol ether carboxylic acids featuring diverse EO group chain quantities (AEC-nH, where n equals 5, 7, and 9) and branched alkyl glycosides (IG). The elucidation of these mechanisms sheds light on their prospective application properties. It was observed that the self-assembly of micelles in these hybrid systems is predominantly influenced by hydrogen bonding, electrostatic interactions, and hydrophobic forces. The spherical-rod morphology of the micelles responds to the varying numbers of EO group chains, with an increased number of EO leading to the formation of rod-like micelles, which exhibit relative instability, while a decreased number of EO results in the formation of spherical micelles with relative stability. Additionally, by means of kinetic analysis, it was determined that the micelle formation process of the three hybrid systems is driven by enthalpy, and a mixed diffusion-kinetics adsorption mechanism is involved in the adsorption process. These findings significantly impact their application properties. This report stands as the first exploration of the synergistic mechanisms and application performance of two types of green surfactants in aqueous solutions, considering the influence of different numbers of EO group chains. Not only does it provide fundamental insights into their properties, but it also offers novel perspectives on the applications of green surface activation.

Abstract
The formation of aggregates, which are widely used in the field of biochemistry and the medical industry, was studied with different compositions of alkyl betaine gemini surfactant (C14Ab) in conjugation with chlorpromazine hydrochloride (CPZ). The results were compared with those of a single-chain zwitterionic surfactant (C12DmCB) of the same type with CPZ. Dynamic light scattering (DLS), confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) methods were used to distinguish the aggregates for the CPZ/C14Ab system in aqueous solutions above a certain mole fraction of the drug CPZ (αCPZ = 0.2). Time-resolved fluorescence decay measurements of acridine orange revealed relative polarity near the head group regions of mixed micelle (CPZ/C14Ab and CPZ/C12DmCB) systems. The hydrophilic environment around the head group regions of the CPZ/C14Ab system was different from that in the case of the CPZ/C12DmCB system. On the other hand, several theoretical models were employed (Clint, Rubingh, Motomura, and SPB) for mixed micellar systems to elucidate the different interaction parameters. Such a systematic study of a zwitterionic gemini amphiphile and its interaction with other amphiphiles and an amphiphilic drug molecule is rare in the literature.

Abstract
The objective of this study was to synthesize lignin carboxyl betaine zwitterionic surfactants (LCBS) from alkali lignin through a three-step reaction involving epoxidation, amination, and quaternization. The synthesized LCBS were characterized using infrared spectroscopy (IR) and thermogravimetric (TG) analysis. To assess their potential for enhanced oil recovery (EOR), the physicochemical properties of the LCBS surfactants, such as surface tension, emulsification, temperature resistance, salt resistance, and interfacial properties, were evaluated using standard experimental methods for surfactants applied in oil displacement. The LCBS surfactants exhibited higher surface activity, with low surface tension values ranging from 29.65 mN m-1 to 31.85 mN m-1 at the corresponding critical micelle concentration (cmc), also the significant emulsifying performance of LCBS surfactants was proved in the emulsifying experiments. Moreover, the synthesized LCBS surfactants were found to be suitable for use in harsh reservoirs of high-salinity and high-temperature, as confirmed by the temperature and salt resistance measurements. The interfacial tension (IFT) tests between Huabei crude oil and LCBS surfactants suggested that these surfactants could effectively extract the crude oil containing heavy components such as colloid and asphaltene, and ultra-low IFT values could be achieved with the addition of weak alkali.

Abstract
Surfactants based on myristic acid, epichlorohydrin, and propylene oxide were obtained in two ways. First, the ester of myristic acid and epichlorohydrin was synthesised, and then with propylene oxide. Second, myristic acid was first reacted with propylene oxide, and then with epichlorohydrin. In both cases, the reactions were carried out at 150–160°C using triethylamine as a catalyst. The obtained chloropropoxy-propoxy and propoxy-chloropropoxy esters of myristic acid are non-ionic surfactants. These products were transformed into cationic surfactants by interaction with several ethanolamines. The specific electroconductance and surface activity of the obtained surfactants, characters that vary with the colloidal–chemical parameters of the surfactants, depended on such factors as the sequence of the epichlorohydrin and propylene oxide units inside the polar group of the obtained ionic surfactants, the presence of the methyl group linked to the N-atom, as well as the number of ethylol groups. It was revealed that the synthesised surfactants possess a property of localising thin (thickness <1 mm) petroleum films spread over different types of water.

Abstract
Wormlike micelles (WLMs) have been observed in a wide variety of cationic surfactants. Here we developed WLMs based on an N-allyl substituted cationic surfactant with an unsaturated C22-tail, N-erucamidopropyl-N,N-dimethyl-N-allyl-ammonium bromide (EDAA), and compared them with UC22AMPM at the same concentration. The viscoelasticity, aggregate microstructure and salt tolerance of EDAA solutions were investigated by rheology, surface tension and Cryo-TEM measurements. It was found that EDAA exhibited a higher viscosity and a high salt tolerance. Upon increasing the concentration of NaCl, the viscosity of wormlike micelles in the solutions continuously increased and reached ∼1.10 × 106 mP s at 200 mM. On further increasing the NaCl concentration to 2000 mM, the viscosity remained at ∼106 mP s without any reduction. But the viscosity of UC22AMPM solutions showed a drastic change with the increase of NaCl concentration. This drastic variation in rheological behavior is attributed to the presence of the N-allyl substituent. Besides, the EDAA also shows some advantages such as low overlapping concentration(∼2.2 mM) and stable viscosity over the whole pH range.
