Spectroscopic interactions of titanium dioxide nanoparticles with pharmacologically active 3( 2H )-pyridazinone derivative

Exploring the molecular binding mechanism of 6-fluoro, 4-hydroxy, 2- methyl quinoline with TiO2 nanoparticles: A spectroscopic, thermodynamic, and insights into the solvatochromic effect

This study investigates the interaction between titanium oxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) and the heterocyclic fluorophore 6-fluoro,4-hydroxy,2-methylquinoline (6-FHMQ), aiming to understand fluorescence quenching mechanisms and thermodynamic characteristics. Spectroscopic techniques including spectrofluorometry (FL) and spectrophotometry (UV-Vis) were used, with a lifetime decay (τ) of 0.18 ns for 6-FHMQ measured using time correlated single photon counting (TCSPC). The interaction between 6-FHMQ and TiO2 NPs revealed a mix of static and dynamic fluorescence quenching mechanisms, with increasing quenching constants (Ksv) and a higher bimolecular quenching rate constant (Kq). The dynamic nature was highlighted by a temperature-dependent increase in binding sites from 1 to ~ 2. Spontaneous complexation was affirmed by negative change in free energy (ΔG), with negative change in enthalpy (ΔH) and a positive change in entropy (ΔS) values indicating favorable electrostatic and ionic interactions. The impact of varying TiO2 NP concentrations on 6-FHMQ absorption was analyzed using the Benesi-Hildbrand equation, with a quantum yield of 0.61 determined. By forster resonance energy transfer (FRET) theory, the proximity between 6-FHMQ and TiO2 NPs was found to be less than 70 Å. Ground and excited state dipole moments of 6-FHMQ in different solvents were calculated to demonstrate solvent sensing ability and charge transfer properties. Ultimately, this study serves as a testament to the power of scientific innovation in the realms of drug delivery and tissue engineering.

Effect of Fluorescence Quenching model on Quinoline Derivative with Cobalt Chloride metal ion using steady state and time resolved spectroscopic methods

Quinoline derivative i.e. quinilone yellow with the scientific name [sodium 2-(2, 3-dihydro-1,3-dioxo-1H-inden-2-yl) quinoline-6,8-disulfonate] (SQDS) is analysed for fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET). Fluorescence quenching mechanism is studied by employing steady state and transient state spectroscopic measurements. Cobalt Chloride is used as quencher in the present study. Linearity was observed in Stern-Volmer plots for transient state as well as steady state. This was further attributed to a mechanism of collisional quenching. Efficiency in fluorescence quenching is observed as there is a correlation between quenching constants of both transient and steady state. A significant energy transfer is reported between metal ions and SQDS molecule, according to FRET theory. Characterization results are studied and analysed. Application in the field of non-linear optics are predicted for SQDS. With Kurtz and Perry powder technique, SHG (second harmonic generation) efficiency was measured using Q-switched mode locked Nd:YAG laser emitting 1064 nm the first time with this compound.

Photocatalytic and bactericidal properties and molecular docking analysis of TiO2 nanoparticles conjugated with Zr for environmental remediation

Despite implementing several methodologies including a combination of physical, chemical and biological techniques, aquatic and microbial pollution remains a challenge to this day. Recently, nanomaterials have attracted considerable attention due to their extraordinary prospective for utilization toward environmental remediation. Among several probable candidates, TiO2 stands out due to its potential for use in multifaceted applications. One way to improve the catalytic and antimicrobial potential of TiO2 is to dope it with certain elements. In this study, Zr-doped TiO2 was synthesized through a sol-gel chemical method using various dopant concentrations (2, 4, 6, and 8 wt%). Surface morphological, microstructural and elemental analysis was carried out using FESEM and HR-TEM along with EDS to confirm the formation of Zr-TiO2. XRD spectra showed a linear shift of the (101) anatase peak to lower diffraction angles (from 25.4° to 25.08°) with increasing Zr4+ concentration. Functional groups were examined via FTIR, an ample absorption band appearing between 400 and 700 cm-1 in the acquired spectrum was attributed to the vibration modes of the Ti-O-Ti linkage present within TiO2 nanoparticles, which denotes the formation of TiO2. Experimental results indicated that with increasing dopant concentrations, photocatalytic potential was enhanced significantly. In this respect, TiO2 doped with 8 wt% Zr (sample 0.08 : 1) exhibited outstanding performance by realizing 98% elimination of synthetic MB in 100 minutes. This is thought to be due to a decreased rate of electron-hole pair recombination that transpires upon doping. Therefore, it is proposed that Zr-doped TiO2 can be used as an effective photocatalyst material for various environmental and wastewater treatment applications. The good docking scores and binding confirmation of Zr-doped TiO2 suggested doped nanoparticles as a potential inhibitor against selected targets of both E. coli and S. aureus. Hence, enzyme inhibition studies of Zr-doped TiO2 NPs are suggested for further confirmation of these in silico predictions.

Re-usage of the Waste Drug as Molecular Chemosensor for Fe3+ Ion: Application towards Fluorescent Ink

Herein, a novel notion is used to reuse an expired drug namely Telmisartan (Sensor 2) to optically sense the Fe³⁺ metal ion. Direct re-usage of the drug avoided wearisome procedures of synthesis, hence proved the method as simple and economic. Sensor 2 found highly stable in the temperature range 25-75 °C. Relative fluorescence was almost the same even after 35 days of observation. There were no significant changes in wavelength even after adding different concentrations of FeCl₃, which shows the high stability of the compound. The value of Limit of Detection (LOD) observed was 34.2 nM. FTIR studies confirmed the presence of carboxylic group. The method of fluorescence quenching was used to detect the Fe³⁺ ion. The association between Sensor 2 and Fe³⁺ was analyzed using Benesi-Hildebrand relation. Positive deviation from the linearity of S-V plots suggested that the quenching was not purely dynamic. Further, this deviation was analyzed by the sphere of action quenching model. To investigate whether the quenching is diffusion limited, we applied the finite sink approximation model and deduced that quenching is due to both static and dynamic processes. Due to the high fluorescence property of the molecule, it was successfully tested to be used as fluorescent ink.

Analysis of Fluorescence Quenching for Newly Synthesized Biologically Active 3(2H)-pyridazinone Derivative by Aniline

Herein, we have studied the analysis of fluorescence quenching for newly synthesized biologically active 3(2H)-pyridazinone derivative 5-(5-bromo-2-hydroxy-phenyl)-2-phenyl-2H-pyridazin-3-one [BHP] by various concentrations of aniline using UV-Visible spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy and time-correlated single photon counting technique in five different solvents namely, methanol, ethanol, propan-2-ol, dimethylsulfoxide and ethyl acetate at room temperature. The fluorescence intensity of BHP molecule decrease with increasing in the aniline concentration and it is studied using the Stern-Volmer relation. The obtained Stern-Volmer plots were found to be linear in all the five solvents. The various parameters responsible for the fluorescence quenching such as quenching rate parameters (k _q ), diffusion rate parameter (k _d ) and the probability of quenching per encounter (p) were experimentally calculated in all five solvents. An activation energy of quenching (E _a ) was calculated using the values of activation energy of diffusion (E _d ) and p. It was found that the values of E _a are greater than E _d in all five solvents studied. Further, it is inferred that the fluorescence quenching reactions in BHP molecule are more significantly affected by activation energy processes.
