Interaction between tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide and benzyldimethylhexadecylammonium chloride in aqueous/urea solution at various temperatures: An experimental and theoretical investigation

Investigation of the impacts of simple electrolytes and hydrotrope on the interaction of ceftriaxone sodium with cetylpyridinium chloride at numerous study temperatures

Herein, interactions between cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) and ceftriaxone sodium (CTS) were investigated applying conductivity technique. Impacts of the nature of additives (e.g. electrolytes or hydrotrope (HDT)), change of temperatures (from 298.15 to 323.15 K), and concentration variation of CTS/additives were assessed on the micellization of CPC + CTS mixture. The conductometric analysis of critical micelle concentration (CMC) with respect to the concentration reveals that the CMC values were increased with the increase in CTS concentration. In terms of using different mediums, CMC did not differ much with the increase in electrolyte salt (NaCl, Na2SO4) concentration, but increased significantly with the rise of HDT (NaBenz) amount. In the presence of electrolyte, CMC showed a gentle increment with temperature, while the HDT showed the opposite trend. Obtained result was further correlated with conventional thermodynamic relationship, where standard Gibb's free energy change ( Δ G m o ) , change of enthalpy ( Δ H m o ) , and change of entropy ( Δ S m o ) were utilized to investigate. The Δ G m o values were negative for all the mixed systems studied indicating that the micellization process was spontaneous. Finally, the stability of micellization was studied by estimating the intrinsic enthalpy gain (Δ H m o , ∗ ) and compensation temperature (Tc). Here, CPC + CTS mixed system showed more stability in Na2SO4 medium than the NaCl, while in NaBenz exhibited the lowest stability.

Study on surface properties of sodiumdodecyl sulfate and dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide mixed surfactants and their interaction with dyes

The antagonistic as well as synergetic interaction for dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB) and sodiumdodecyl sulfate (SDS) mixed surfactants by using surface tension are investigated on the basis of the results obtained earlier, the efficiency of adsorption (pC₂₀), aggregation number (N), ΓΓmax, effective Gibbs free energy (ΔGeffo) and CMCC20 are calculated additionally with three different temperatures at T = 293.15, 298.15 and 303.15 K as the detailed surface properties. The binding constants and standard free energy change of SDS and DTAB mixture with the interaction of (2.5× 10⁻⁵ mol L^–1 of methyl orange, MO and methylene blue, MB) are carried out by using UV-Vis spectroscopy at room temperature by using different models. The closer values of the binding constants and standard free energy change for SDS and DTAB mixture with the interaction of MO and MB are included in our investigations.

Aggregation and interfacial phenomenon of amphiphilic drug under the influence of pharmaceutical excipients (green/biocompatible gemini surfactant)

In the current study, we have examined the interaction amongst an antidepressant drug amitriptyline hydrochloride (AMH) and ethane-1, 2-diyl bis(N,N-dimethyl-N-cetylammoniumacetoxy) dichloride (16-E2-16, a green gemini surfactant) through tensiometric and fluorimetric techniques in aqueous/electrolyte/urea solutions. Significant variations are observed in the various evaluated parameters in the present study. Gemini 16-E2-16 has outstanding surface properties along with a much lower cmc value, demonstrating very little toxicity as well as considerable antimicrobial activity. The cmc values of mixtures decrease through increase in mole fraction (α₁) of 16-E2-16, which specifies the nonideality of the solution mixtures, along with demonstrating the occurrence of mixed micellization too. Negative β^Rub values signify on the whole attractive force of interaction between constituents of mixed micelles. Owing to the incidence of electrolyte NaCl (50 mmol.kg^–1), lowering of the micelles’ surface charge happens, resulting in aggregation taking place at lower concentration while the presence of urea (NH₂CONH₂) halts micellization taking place, which means the cmc value increases in the attendance of urea. The ΔGmo values for all systems were negative along with the presence of electrolyte/urea. The excess free energy (G_ex) of studied mixed systems was also estimated and found to be negative for all the systems. Using the fluorescence quenching method, the micelle aggregation number (N_agg) was evaluated and it was found that the contribution of gemini surfactant was always more than that of the AMH and their value enhances in the existence of electrolyte while decreasing in the attendance of NH₂CONH₂ in the system. In addition, other fluorescence parameters such as micropolarity (I₁/I₃), dielectric constant (D_exp) as well as Stern–Volmer binding constants (K_sv) of mixed systems were evaluated and the results showed the synergistic performance of the AMH + 16-E2-16 mixtures. Along with tensiometric and fluorimetric techniques, FT-IR spectroscopy was also engaged to reveal the interaction among constituents.
