Abstract
This study aims to develop a suitable electrochemical electrode through the incorporation of potassium montmorillonite (MMTK10)clay into the carbon matrix for the direct and sensitive determination of paracetamol (PAR) in pharmaceutical formulations. Electrochemical characterization of the electrodes involves the use of techniques such as cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The results reveal that the voltammetric response of PAR is linear over a wide concentration range (1.0-15 μM), with a low detection limit of 0.46 μM. Analytically, PAR recovery results were around 94%, indicating that the developed electrode is highly suitable for PAR detection in pharmaceutical formulation. Additionally, density functional theory (DFT) is employed to investigate the reactivity of PAR and explain the interaction process of PAR on the electrode surface at different pH values. A Monte Carlo simulations model is developed to provide a deeper understanding of the adsorption mechanism, particularly to comprehend molecular interactions and preferential orientations of PAR with MMT fractions at the electrode surface. Reduced Density Gradient is calculated and discussed using techniques such as Multiwfn and Visualization of Molecular Dynamics. The developed CPE-MMTK10 sensor provided a simple preparation method, rapid response, high sensitivity, reproducibility, strong selectivity, and extended stability. Moreover, there is a good correlation between most parameters calculated by DFT and experimental results, thereby reinforcing the validity of the theoretical approach in this study.

Abstract
Two green inhibitors extracted from an endemic species (Origanum grosii (Og)) using two solvents of different polarity (water and ethanol), OgW (aqueous extract) and OgE (ethanolic extract), were used for the anticorrosion of mild steel (M steel) in a 1 M HCl medium. Anticorrosive performance of OgW and OgE was assessed using standard electrochemical techniques, EIS/PDP measurements, weight loss method and SEM/EDX surface analysis. The results show that OgW achieves a maximum inhibition efficiency of 92 % and that the extract in aqueous medium (more polar) is more efficient than the extract in ethanolic medium (less polar). Both extracts act as mixed inhibitors and their corrosion process is predominantly governed by a charge transfer. Concentration and temperature effect was studied and shown that they are two antagonistic parameters for the evolution of inhibitory effectiveness of both OgW and OgE. The adsorption isotherms of the two inhibitors OgE and OgW obey to the Langmuir adsorption model. Moreover, the examination of SEM images and EDX spectra support a deposit of both extracts on the metal surface by an adsorption phenomenon. Besides, theoretical approach of the molecular structures of the major compounds M-OgW and M-OgE and inhibition efficiency was examined via DFT calculations and molecular dynamics simulations and it was consistent with the experimental findings.

Abstract
The present research demonstrates an innovative investigation of environmentally friendly mild steel (M-steel) corrosion inhibition using the artemisia stems aqueous extract (ASAEx) as an inhibitor in hydrochloric acid 1 M. The standard extraction technique of hydrodistillation was used for producing the aqueous solutions of ASAEx. To assess the ratios of the chemical components, phytochemical screening was used to identify the stems of this plant. We used a variety of methods and techniques in our research on corrosion inhibition, including weight loss measures, surface analysis methods like XPS and SEM/EDS, electrochemical testing like PDP and EIS, as well as computational lead compound evaluation. Maximum inhibitory efficacy was achieved with 400 mg/L ASAEx in 1 M HCl at 303 K, i.e. 90%. The PDP investigation verified the mixed-kind inhibitor status of the ASAEx extract. To describe the surface of M-steel, fitting and synthetic data were used to identify a constant phase element (CPE). SEM surface analysis was also used to detect the ASAEx effect on the surface of M-steel. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis shows the presence of trace molecules of ASAEx on M-steel surface characterizing the bands in Maj-ASAEx (major compound of ASAEx). Density functional theory (DFT) and molecular dynamics simulations (MDs) were used in computational chemistry to clarify the adsorption mechanism and inhibitory impact.

Abstract
In this study, we explored aluminum corrosion inhibition field of study in a 1 M HCl solution, harnessing the power of essential oils extracted from rosemary and eucalyptus plants. Our exploration gives a comprehensive analysis of the pivotal factors that shape the corrosion inhibition process. Our scientific journey was marked by a deliberate and systematic approach, encompassing the utilization of gravimetric analysis (weight loss), electrochemical potentiodynamic polarization, and the sophisticated electrochemical impedance spectrometry (EIS) techniques. Our findings unveiled promising and nuanced outcomes, particularly in the area of the electrochemical technique. This method demonstrated remarkable inhibition efficiencies, ranging from 42% to an impressive 92% for rosemary essential oil and from 37 to 84% for eucalyptus essential oil. These results unveiled a dynamic relationship between essential oil concentration and inhibition efficiency, a revelation that further deepens our understanding of the corrosion inhibition process. The inhibition efficiency increased with higher concentrations of essential oil but decreased with elevated temperatures. Furthermore, our analysis traversed into the realms of potentiodynamic and thermodynamic insights. These analytical techniques unearthed the complex mechanisms at play, explaining the pathway followed by the studied inhibitors. They exhibited their prowess by forming protective films on the metal surface, acting as vigilant protectors against the relentless forces of corrosion. Complementing our experimental findings, our study of computational chemistry through density functional theory (DFT) unveiled remarkable insights. It elucidated the spontaneous adsorption process of inhibitor molecules onto the aluminum surface in the presence of H2O solvent. This computational harmony with our experimental results strengthened our confidence in the robustness of our findings. One of the key findings of this study was the superior inhibitory power of camphor in rosemary EO and β-myrcene in eucalyptus essential oil EO, respectively, attributed to the distinctive characteristics of the active sites found in each compound. The inhibitory effectiveness followed the order β-myrcene > camphor > borneol > α-pinene > bornyl acetate > p-cymene > 1,8-cineole. These compounds, notable for their distinct active sites, emerged as exceptional agents in the pursuit of effective corrosion inhibition.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This paper focuses on the chemical and physical adsorption of 1-hexyl-2,3-dimethyl imidazolium bromide (HDMIMBr), 1-decyl-2,3-dimethyl imidazolium bromide (DDMIMBr), and 1-hexadecyl-2,3-dimethyl imidazolium bromide (C16DMIMBr) on the surface of mild steel at high temperature in order to explore the mechanism of a corrosion inhibitor in a complex environment. METHODS Gravimetric, scanning electron microscope, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and electrochemical tests explored the corrosion inhibition performance from the experimental level. Quantum chemical calculations and molecular dynamics simulations reveal the corrosion inhibition mechanism from the molecular scale. RESULTS The results show that the longer the alkyl chain of the three corrosion inhibitors studied, the better the corrosion inhibition performance. This is due to the hydrophobic effect of the long alkyl chain, which has its own synergistic effect and then self-assembles to form an adsorption film with a multilayer structure. CONCLUSION This dense adsorption film makes corrosion inhibitors a good application prospect in complex corrosive environments.

Abstract
Biofilms are the multicellular lifestyle of microorganisms and are present on potentially every type of biotic or abiotic surface. Detrimental biofilms are generally targeted with antimicrobial compounds. Phytochemicals at sub-lethal concentrations seem to be an exciting alternative strategy to control biofilms, as they are less likely to impose selective pressure leading to resistance. This overview gathers the literature on individual phytocompounds rather than on extracts of which the use is difficult to reproduce. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first review to target only individual phytochemicals below inhibitory concentrations against biofilm formation. We explored whether there is an overall mechanism that can explain the effects of individual phytochemicals at sub-lethal concentrations. Interestingly, in all experiments reported here in which oxidative stress was investigated, a modest increase in intracellular reactive oxygen species was reported in treated cells compared to untreated specimens. At sub-lethal concentrations, polyphenolic substances likely act as pro-oxidants by disturbing the healthy redox cycle and causing an accumulation of reactive oxygen species.

Abstract
The exploitation of cost-effective, sustainable, green and efficient compounds is a renewed science and a demanding mission for today's chemists and technologists. In this view, the inhibitive corrosion properties of some hydrazine derivatives named (1E,2E)-bis(1-(2-nitrophenyl)ethylidene)hydrazine (SSBO), (1E,2E)-bis(1-(3-nitrophenyl)ethylidene)hydrazine (SSBM) and (1E,2E)-bis(1-(4-nitrophenyl)ethylidene)hydrazine (SSBP) on the C38 steel corrosion in 1M HCl media has been evaluated by different techniques like electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiodynamic polarization (PDP), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The EIS results showed that SSBM is the greatest inhibitor (η>93%) among the three tested compounds. The SSBM gives considerable inhibition efficiency against corrosion of steel compared to the previous studies. The PDP curves indicated that the studied inhibitors were a mixed-type inhibitor with a predominantly cathodic control. Quantum calculations of some descriptors derived from the density functional theory (DFT), the transition state theory (TST), the quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) and molecular dynamics simulation have delivered helpful information regarding electron transfer and mechanism during adsorption of inhibitors on C38 steel surface.

Abstract
The structure of nano-graphene oxide has attracted special attention in drug release due to its special properties such as hydrophilicity, special surface, biocompatibility, and the possibility of high loading of hydrophilic and hydrophobic drugs. In this study, after simulating and optimizing the structure of nano-graphene and then nano-graphene oxide (NGO), it was used to load the anti-cancer drug of camptothecin (CA) in an aqueous medium, and the optimal conditions for achieving maximum loading efficiency of the drug were investigated. Due to the structure of the drug, there are two forms, one form of lactone ring and the other carboxylate. If the lactone ring form is predominant, the effectiveness of the drug is increased. This depends on pH of the environment. The calculated thermodynamic and structural results show that the solubility of the drug about nano-graphene and its lactone ring state is maintained by using nano-graphene oxide. To increase the effectiveness of the drug, the lactone ring form must be maintained in the drug structure. The use of folic acid as an intermediate in the aqueous medium preserves the lactone form in the drug structure and increases its effectiveness. The results show that the presence of the ring in the drug structure and its binding to the mediator of folic acid to nano-graphene oxide is a stabilizing factor of keto tautomer. The calculation of vibrational frequencies shows that the presence of folic acid intermediate reduces the vibrational frequency of the hydroxyl group (OH) so that its absorption energy (Ead) is equal to the lowest value 65.24 a.u.

Abstract
Green inhibitors are an important way to decrease the corrosion rate of different industrial metals. The present work shows the corrosion behavior of the mild steel medium (MS) in hydrochloric acid 1 M by the aqueous extract of Artemisia Herba Alba (AHA), which is an green sustainable inhibitor to reduce its corrosive action by exploiting a variety of techniques and methods namely: Weight loss, electrochemical techniques [electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic polarization (PDP], SEM-EDX, XPS and theoretical calculations for the majority molecule. Hydrodistillation is the extraction method that has been used to prepare the aqueous extracts. Otherwise, phytochemical screening characterization of different parts of the plant was applied to show the proportions of chemical compounds that exist in the plants. The highest inhibition efficiency obtained is 92% for 0.4 g/L of AHA aqueous extract in 1 M HCl at 303 K. PDP study confirmed that the AHA extract is of mixed-kind inhibitor. A CPE, Q determined by fit and graphical methods plotted by synthetic data, was utilized. To characterize the mild steel surface, scanning electron microscopy was also used; SEM/EDX allowed the investigation of the AHA effect on the surface of mild steel specimens. To comprehend the adsorption mechanism of AHA extract for MS in the 1 M HCl, XPS technique was accomplished. Theoretical approaches based on chemical quantum calculations and molecular dynamics simulation clearly explains the mode of adsorption of the majority molecule on the iron surface.

Abstract
The development of high-efficiency adsorbents and the exploration of their adsorption mechanisms are major challenges in environmental remediation. Herein, MIL-100 was prepared, characterized, and utilized for the adsorptive removal of diclofenac sodium (DCF) from aqueous solutions. A high monolayer adsorption capacity of 773 mg g-1 was recorded. The adsorption mechanism was proposed based on different contributions of two types of pore structure of MIL-100 to the adsorption of DCF from aqueous solutions according to the experimental results and theoretical calculation. During adsorption process, DCF (5.2 × 7.4 × 10.3 Å) diffused through the free area of hexagonal pores (8.6 × 8.6 Å) into the cages of MIL-100, whilst it was adsorbed by the pentagonal pores (4.8 × 5.8 Å) preferentially. Internal mass transfer resistance, which was identified as one of the dominant rate-limiting steps by the mass transfer resistance kinetic models based on the Sips model, will be derived from the diffusion process, which was affected by the size-sieving effect of the pore structure of MIL-100. The successful diffusion of DCF into the interior of MIL-100 and the stable configuration between MIL-100 and DCF accounted for the high adsorption capacity. The capture of DCF into MIL-100 also resulted in the pore size distribution variation of adsorbent, which provided vital experimental evidence for the proposed mechanism. This study may offer deeper insights into other pollutants removal by metal-organic frameworks type adsorbents.

Abstract
Piperine is a pungent alkaloid, largely present in the skin of pepper. It is the most active component of pepper and being used as a medicine in many Asian countries. The effect of piperine on memory impairment and neurodegeneration in Alzheimer's disease model has been investigated. In the present study, we aim to investigate the effect of piperine molecule in different environments (crystal and active site of proteins) from crystallography, molecular docking, QM/MM based charge density analysis and molecular dynamic simulation. The crystal structure of piperine has been used to determine the topological electron density of intermolecular interactions. The O-atoms of piperine is forming C-H⋅⋅⋅O interactions with the neighboring molecules in the crystal, these interactions also confirmed from the Hirshfeld surface. Further, to understand the nature of interactions and the conformational flexibility of piperine in the active site of recombinant human acetylcholinesterase (rhAChE), molecular docking analysis has been performed. The selected docked complex suggests favorable hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interactions with rhAChE enzyme; notably, the O3 atom of piperine molecule forms strong hydrogen bonding interaction with Glu202 at 1.8 Å. To determine the charge density distribution and the electrostatic properties of piperine molecule in the active site of rhAChE, the piperine-rhAChE complex was minimized at QM/MM energy level; in which, the binding pocket with piperine was considered as QM region. The charge density analysis of piperine and the interacting amino acid groups have been carried out. The topological analysis of O3⋯H-O/Glu202 hydrogen bonding interaction exhibits strong interactions and the electron density ρcp(r): 0.242 eÅ-3 and the Laplacian ∇2ρcp(r): 3.176 eÅ-5 respectively. These results were compared with the corresponding molecule present in the crystal and gas phase environments of piperine. The comparison of active site structure with the corresponding crystal phase and gas phase structures reveal that piperine exhibits large conformational modification in the active site. The molecular dynamics simulation and binding free energy calculations were performed, this gives the stability, binding affinity of the molecule in the active site of rhAChE. The O3⋯H-O/Glu202 interaction shows the high stability (89.2%), this was confirmed from the stability of hydrogen bond analysis. The binding free energy was used to measure the rate of inhibition of enzyme in the presence of ligand molecule. The comparative study allows to understand the nature of piperine molecule in the gas and crystal phases, and amino acids environment.
