Abstract
In this study, the one-step switchable hydrophilic solvent (SHS)-based effervescence tablet microextraction (ETME) was coupled with smartphone digital image colorimetry (SDIC) for the field detection of nickel ion (Ni2+) for the first time. Both extractant and CO2 were generated in situ when the novel SHS-based effervescence tablet was placed in the sample solution. The complexant 1-(2-pyridinylazo)-2-naphthaleno (PAN) dissolved from the effervescence tablet to form a stable complex with Ni2+, and the extractant was uniformly dispersed in the sample solution under the action of CO2 and fully in contact with Ni-PAN, which enabled efficient extraction of Ni2+. The color changes of the extraction phase were captured by smartphone, then a quantitative relationship between the concentrations of Ni2+ and color intensity of images captured using a smartphone was established by customized applet WASDIC, which realized quantitative analysis of Ni2+ in different samples. Under optimal conditions, the enhancement factor (EF) of the proposed method was 65.1, the limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) were 1.69 and 5.64 μg L-1, respectively. The developed method was successfully applied to the detection of trace Ni2+ in the environmental samples and natural medicines. And the applicability of the method for use in field analysis was validated.

Abstract
This work first proposed a novel green and efficient method based on Quick, Easy, Cheap, Efficient, Rugged, and Safe pretreatment (QuEChERS) combined with switchable hydrophilic solvent homogeneous liquid-liquid microextraction (SHS-HLLME) for trace determination of triazole fungicides (TFs) in agricultural products such as vegetables and fruits by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). N,N-Dimethyl benzylamine was used for the synthesis of SHS. Box-Behnken design was applied for the optimization of extraction conditions and a mathematical model was obtained. Ultimately, 0.50 mL SHS, 1.0 mL 10 mol L-1 sodium hydroxide, and 45 s ultrasonic time were determined as optimal conditions for the SHS-HLLME method. The limit of detection and limit of quantification determined using the optimal method (SHS-HLLME/GC-MS) were 0.13-0.27 ng mL-1 and 0.43-0.90 ng mL-1, respectively. In addition, the SHS-HLLME method under optimal conditions was combined with the traditional QuEChERS method to realize the advancement of the SHS-HLLME method from simple to complex matrix analysis, and the QuEChERS-SHS-HLLME method was successfully applied to the analysis of TFs in cucumbers, tomatoes, watermelon and grapes in agricultural products. Matrix-matched calibration standards were used to improve the accuracy of TFs in spiked cucumber samples to obtain recovery results close to 100%. It was shown that the new method is green and rapid, enabling fast and inexpensive sample pretreatment with up to 100-fold enrichment factor and low detection limit compared with the original QuEChERS method.

Abstract
In this research study, a novel, facile, and affordable method is presented for the synthesis of a Ag/S/S-RGO nanocomposite. The resulting new nanocomposite was identified by FT-IR, XRD, FESEM, XPS, BET and EDX and employed as a rapid and effective adsorbent with acceptable absorption capacity for the analysis of various pesticides by dispersive solid-phase microextraction combined with ion mobility spectrometry. The main experimental parameters of the method were optimized such as the type of desorption solvent, pH of the sample solution, type of buffer, amount of the sorbent (Ag/S/S-RGO), sorption/desorption time, etc. Under the optimized conditions, linear dynamic ranges of 0.5-110.0, 1.0-110.0, and 0.8-90.0 ng mL-1 were achieved, with limits of detection of 0.25, 0.35, and 0.25 ng mL-1 for simazine, alachlor, and haloxyfop, respectively. The relative standard deviations (RSD%) were obtained as <5.0%. Eventually, the method was utilized for the simultaneous determination of simazine, alachlor, and haloxyfop in environmental and agricultural samples with recoveries between 95.0 and 104.6%.

Abstract
Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are a kind of hazardous persistent organic contaminants and widely present in nature due to large consumption in the past. Although PCBs have been banned in many countries of the world, they are still present at trace level in food and water samples. It is of significant value to establish reliable enrichment and detection method. Based on the conversion of the hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity from heptanoic acid under alkali and acid, increasing the contact area between heptanoic acid and PCBs, a new switchable solvent micro-extraction method for PCBs from beverages was developed with good extraction efficiency using heptanoic acid as the extractant prior to gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS). The key parameters that had impact on enrichment of PCBs were investigated in detail. Under the optimal conditions, a good linearity can be achieved in a concentration range of 0.01-20 μg L-1 with the correlation coefficients of 0.9978-0.9994. Limits of detection for PCB28, PCB53, PCB206 were 3 ng L-1 and PCB118 was 5 ng L-1 while other target PCBs were 2 ng L-1. Intra-day and inter-day precisions were in the range of 1.9-4.2% and 2.1-4.2%(relative standard deviation, RSD, n = 6), respectively. The real sample spiked recoveries of the targets were in the range of 93.2-114.3% (n = 3). The enrichment factors were in the range of 16.2-17.9. The results proved that this method was reliable for monitoring trace PCBs in beverage samples and will help for future assessments of impacts on human and animal health.

Abstract
A rapid and sensitive approach for enriching and extracting triazines from brown sugar samples was developed by combining magnetic dispersive solid-phase extraction and HPLC/UV. In this work, a magnetic porous biochar (MPB) derived from low-cost bagasse was prepared and successfully employed as an adsorbent. A particular emphasis was placed on optimizing the extraction conditions, including the amount of MPB, extraction time, pH, type and volume of eluent, and salt concentration. Under optimized MSPE conditions, the method showed satisfactory linearity over concentration ranges of 2-200 μg L-1 for four triazines, with correlation coefficient values no less than 0.9981. Low limits of detection (0.27-0.33 μg L-1), good recoveries (81.7-100.7%), and satisfactory repeatability (RSDs ≤ 8.1%) were also demonstrated with respect to the analytical performance. The results demonstrated that the developed method was simple, rapid, sensitive, and efficient, indicating that it could extract and enrich trace triazines from real samples.

Abstract
Switchable solvents are new generation solvents that are environmentally friendly and can be used for the effective pre-concentration of pesticide residues in food and environmental matrices. They have physico-chemical properties that can be switched abruptly and reversibly between two opposite forms. The common switchable solvents used commonly during pesticide pre-concentration involve polarity switch. Such solvent switch between hydrophobic and hydrophilic forms during pesticide pre-concentration. Secondary and tertiary amines are typical switchable hydrophilicity solvents. The amines are hydrophobic but they abruptly and reversibly switch to their hydrophilic forms on addition of CO2 to them. The application of amine-based switchable solvents during pre-concentration of pesticide residue in food and environmental samples are discussed in this paper. Medium-chain fatty acids can also be used as switchable solvents. Their switch between hydrophobic and hydrophilic forms is usually triggered by pH changes. Applications of fatty acid-based switchable solvents during pre-concentration of pesticide residues are reviewed in this paper. Switchable solvent-based micro-extraction can be combined with other pre-concentration techniques to enhance selectivity resulting in clean chromatograms. This paper has a section dedicated to the application of hyphenated switchable solvent-based micro-extraction techniques during pre-concentration of pesticides in food and environmental samples. In addition, the challenges associated with the use of switchable solvents during micro-extraction of pesticide residues are also discussed.

Abstract
In this study, an accurate analytical method development for cobalt determination in urine samples was described. The method is based on the mass transfer of the target analytes to the organic phase from the aqueous phase by the dispersing extractant throughout the solution with the aid of CO2 bubbles prior to sample measurement by using a slotted quartz tube flame atomic absorption spectrophotometer. An extractor (1-decanol) dropped effervescent tablet (anhydrous sodium carbonate and sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate mixture) was used in order to separate/preconcentrate cobalt after complexation of cobalt ions in aqueous solution with the Schiff base ligand. The parameters affecting the extraction output such as complexing conditions (pH, ligand concentration, and volume) and extraction conditions (extraction solvent type and volume, extraction temperature, and heating duration, NaOH volume and mixing period) were optimized to lower the detection limit. The limit of detection and quantification values under optimized experimental and instrumental conditions were determined as 3.7 μg L-1 and 12 μg L-1, respectively with high linearity with respect to the dynamic range between 15 and 300 μg L-1. The enhancement factor obtained with the developed method was calculated as 83 fold. The pretreatment process was applied to urine samples in order to test the convenience of the developed method in urine samples for the determination of cobalt at low levels. The high percentage recovery results of 96-97% for four different concentrations of spiked urine samples indicated the proposed method's sufficient sensitivity for analyte determination in such a complex matrix.

Abstract
To simultaneously determine the enantiomers of prothioconazole and its chiral metabolite prothioconazole-desthio in water, beer, Baijiu, and vinegar samples by HPLC, a simple, fast, environmentally-friendly popping candy-assisted dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction technique was developed. A green medium-chain fatty acid (decanoic acid) and popping candy could be used as the extractant and solid dispersant respectively to avoid the use of toxic organic solvents. Decanoic acid was collected after extraction by solidification at room temperature. The linear range of this technique was from 27.1 to 1000 µg L-1. The limits of detection and quantification were within the ranges of 8.1-11.2 μg L-1 and 27.1-37.3 μg L-1, respectively. The extraction recovery was 80.8% to 102.5% with the relative standard deviation ranged from 1.1 to 7.1%. This technique has been successfully applied to enantioselectively determine the residues of prothioconazole and prothioconazole-desthio in water, beer, Baijiu, and vinegar samples.

Abstract
Dispersive microextraction techniques are key in the analytical sample treatment context as they combine a favored thermodynamics and kinetics isolation of the target analytes from the sample matrix. The dispersion of the extractant in the form of tiny particles or drops, depending on the technique, into the sample enlarges the contact surface area between phases, thus enhancing the mass transference. This dispersion can be achieved by applying external energy sources, the use of chemicals, or the combination of both strategies. Effervescence-assisted microextraction emerged in 2011 as a new alternative in this context. The technique uses in situ-generated carbon dioxide as the disperser, and it has been successfully applied in the solid-phase and liquid-phase microextraction fields. This minireview explains the main fundamentals of the technique, its potential and the main developments reported.
