Abstract
This study presents a new 5-methoxy-1H-indole-2-carboxylic acid (MI2CA) polymorph investigated by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, and density functional theory (ωB97X-D) calculations employing two basis sets (6-31++G(d,p) and aug-cc-pVTZ). The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P21/c (a = 4.0305(2) Å, b = 13.0346(6) Å, c = 17.2042(9) Å, β = 91.871(5)°, Z = 4). In the crystalline structure, the formation of cyclic dimers via double hydrogen bonds O-H⋯O between MI2CA molecules was observed. Interactions between the NH groups of the indole rings and the adjacent methoxy groups, as well as C-H⋯O contacts, significantly influence the spatial arrangement of molecules. The results from DFT calculations, including dimeric and trimeric structures, agree well with the experimental structural and spectroscopic data. Analysis of the infrared spectra confirms the conclusions drawn from X-ray diffraction studies and reveals differences between the IR spectra of the newly obtained polymorph and that reported earlier in the literature. This comprehensive study sheds some light on the MI2CA polymorphism and is important for a potential pharmacological applications of this compound.

Abstract
The combination of α-acetamidocinnamic acid (HACA) and different N, N,N and N,N,N pyridines (dPy) leads to crowded Zn(ii) metal centers. The increasing bulkiness competes with the chelation enhanced effect (CHEF) in the resulting quantum yields.

Abstract
Single crystal X-ray structure determinations have been executed for several title compounds of the mononuclear form [LMX2], namely [(bpy)ZnX2], X=Cl, Br; [(phen)ZnX2], X=Cl, Br, I (bpy=2,2′-bipyridine; phen=1,10-phenanthroline). Also reported are the crystal structures of ZnSO4/bpy/H2O (1:1:5) (≡ [(bpy)Zn(OH2)4](SO4)·H2O) and Zn(NO3)2/bpy/H2O (1:1:3) (≡ [(bpy)Zn(OH2)3(ONO2)](NO3)). The sulfate complex completes the array [LM(OH2)4]2+, L=bpy, phen, M=Zn, Cd, while the nitrate is the first nitrate example for [LM(OH2)3(OX)](+) (OX=ONO2, OSO3). In all examples of the sulfate and nitrate forms here and previously defined, the metal atoms are six-coordinate, with any anionic donors lying in axial coordination sites (i.e. M–O (quasi-) normal to the LM plane). The structures of [LHg(SCN)2] (L=phen, tpy) (tpy=2,2′:6′,2′-terpyridine), [(tpy)(CdBr2], and [Zn(tpy)2](NO3)2·2H2O are also recorded.

Abstract
Four novel complexes [Co(H2O)4(sul)2] 1, [Co(2-ampy)2(sul)2] 2, [Co(H2O)2(1,10-phen) (sul)2] 3 and [Co(2,9-dimephen)(sul)2] 4 (sul = sulindac, 2-ampy = 2-amino pyridine, 1,10-phen = 1,10-phenanthroline and 2,9-dimeph = 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline) were prepared and characterized by IR, UV-Visible spectroscopy and magnetic properties. The crystal structures of complexes 1 and 4 were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. In-vitro anti-bacterial activity for the prepared complexes against Gram-positive (Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus aureus) and Gram-negative (Bordetella, Escherichia coli) bacteria and Yeast species (Saccharomyces and Candida) were performed using agar well-diffusion method. Only complex 4 showed reasonable activity against yeast. All compounds showed more anti-bacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria than Gram-negative. Graphical abstract This work reports synthesis, crystallographic, spectroscopic studies and biological activity of new cobalt(II) complexes with bioactive mixed sulindac and nitrogen-donor ligands. The crystal structures of complexes 1 and 4 were determined using single-crystal X-ray diffraction. In-vitro anti-bacterial activity of the prepared complexes and their parent ligands were investigated against different Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria using agar diffusion method.
