Effects of MN 4-Type Coordination Structure in Metallophthalocyanine for Bio-Inspired Oxidative Desulfurization Performance. Molecules 2022; 27:molecules27030904. Abstract
Oxidative desulfurization (ODS) is the promising new method for super deep desulfurization of fuel oil. The oxidative desulfurization performance of the metal-N4-chelates metallophthalocyanines (MPcs) is related to the chemical properties of conjugate structures and the central metal ions. Herein, a biomimetic catalytic system composed of metallophthalocyanines (MPcR4, M = Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II); R = -H, -COOH, -NO2, -NH2) and molecular O2 was performed to study the influence of MN4-type coordination structure in metallophthalocyanines for the degradation of dibenzothiophene (DBT) in model oil containing n-octane. The results reveal that the conjugate structures and the center metal ions of metallophthalocyanines played key roles in oxidative desulfurization performance. The inductive effect of different R substituents strongly affected the electron cloud distribution of the conjugate structures and the catalytic performance. Moreover, the catalytic activity of MPcs, which is related to the d electronic configuration and ligand-field effects, does not sequentially increase with the increase in the d electron number of central metal ions.

Synthesis of axially disubstituted quaternized silicon phthalocyanines as a promising photosensitizer for the photodynamic treatment of HCT-116, A549 and SH-SY5Y cancer cell lines. Abstract
In this study, novel silicon(iv) phthalocyanines axially disubstituted with bis[(4-{3-[3-(dimethylamino)phenoxy]propoxy}phenyl)methoxy] and bis[(4-{3-[3-(diethylamino)phenoxy]propoxy}phenyl)methoxy] groups and their quaternized derivatives were synthesized and characterized. Then, their supercoiled pBR322 plasmid DNA cleavage properties were investigated using agarose gel electrophoresis. The in vitro PDT effects of Si-3a and Si-4a were investigated using the MTT cell viability assay against HCT-116, A549 and SH-SY5Y cell lines. Si-3a and Si-4a did not show cleavage effects upon increasing concentrations in the dark but both compounds showed cleavage activities upon irradiation for 30 and 60 min, respectively. The MTT cell viability assay indicated that Si-4a had a cytotoxic effect in a concentration-dependent manner on the HCT-116 cell line but it did not show any statistical difference with regard to phototoxicity. Otherwise, Si-3a and Si-4a had significant phototoxic effects when compared to cytotoxic effects against A549 and SH-SY5Y. The results suggested that Si-3a and Si-4a showed better cell death against SH-SY5Y than other cell lines with irradiation.

Abstract
Direct metallation of 2-hydroxyphthalocyanine J-type slipped-cofacial dimeric ligand by Mg, Zn, Cu, Ni and Co salts has been carried out to obtain corresponding metal complexes selectively without any noticeable dissociation or polymerization of the starting ligand. Integrated analysis of aggregation properties in the synthesized series has been conducted with the involvement of AFM microscopy, UV/Vis spectroscopy and theoretical assessment. As a result, a nonlinear relationship between absorption and concentration was found, with aggregation beginning to appear at concentrations above 3.3 × 10-5 mol L-1 with predominant formation of trimers from the dimeric molecules in THF solutions.
