Abstract
The σ- and π-hole interactions are used to define attractive forces involving elements of groups 12–18 of the periodic table acting as Lewis acids and any electron rich site (Lewis base, anion, and π-system). When the electrophilic atom belongs to group 14, the resulting interaction is termed a tetrel bond. In the first part of this feature paper, tetrel bonds formed in crystalline solids involving sp3-hybridized carbon atom are described and discussed by using selected structures retrieved from the Cambridge Structural Database. The interaction is characterized by a strong directionality (close to linearity) due to the small size of the σ-hole in the C-atom opposite the covalently bonded electron withdrawing group. The second part describes the utilization of two allotropic forms of carbon (C60 and carbon nanotubes) as supramolecular catalysts based on anion–π interactions (π-hole tetrel bonding). This part emphasizes that the π-hole, which is considerably more accessible by nucleophiles than the σ-hole, can be conveniently used in supramolecular catalysis.

Abstract
Background Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic human pathogen that causes severe acute and chronic nosocomial infections, especially in immunocompromised burn patients. and can lead to severe mortality and morbidity. The emergence of antibiotic resistant P. aeruginosa infections has created significant challenges in treating these patients. A potential alternative treatment for antibiotic resistant pathogens includes the use of carbon nanotubes (CNTs), which have received considerable attention due to their potent antibacterial activity. The aim of this study was to construct a novel CNT containing an anti-bacterial chemical component to effectively combat drug resistant P. aeruginosa infections. Methods In this study, a novel chemical component was synthesized and coated the CNT. The antimicrobial effects were then evaluated on MDR, XDR, and PDR strains of P. aeruginosa isolated from burn patients. Antibiotic susceptibility was evaluated using the disk diffusion test and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) testing. In order to determine the potential cytotoxicity, an MTT assay was performed on Human Dermal Fibroblasts. The effect of treatment on the expression of wound healing genes was analyzed via qRT-PCR. Results Experimental data indicates that our CNT coated chemical compound had antibacterial properties, negligible cytotoxicity, and could accelerate the wound healing process. Conclusion Given the antibacterial properties of our CNT chemical compound, it has the potential to treat and reduce the occurrence of multi-drug resistant P. aeruginosa burn wound infections and aid in wound healing by turning on genes (VEGFA, EGF and PDEGF) involved in the wound healing process.

Abstract
Binuclear palladium(II) complexes with metal-metal (d8-d8) bonding interaction were synthesized by reactions of the 1-methyl-1H-1,2,3,4-tetrazole-5-thiol (Hmtzt) or a mixture of Hmtzt and 1,3-propanediamine (1,3-pda) ligands. Complex [Pd2(μ-mtzt)4]·2CH3CN (1) was synthesized by the reaction of Pd(OAc)2 with Hmtzt dissolved in acetonitrile and complex [Pd2(μ-mtzt)2(mtzt)2(1,3-pda)] (2) was synthesized by reaction of a mixture of Hmtzt and 1,3-propanediamine (dissolved in methanol) with PdCl2 (dissolved in acetonitrile) and were identified through elemental analysis, IR, UV-Vis, 1H NMR, luminescence spectroscopy as well as single-crystal X-ray diffraction method. A single-crystal of complex 1 shows that two Pd(II) centers are linked together by four bridging tetrazole ligands providing a paddle wheel-like arrangement. Also a crystal structure of complex 2 shows that this complex possesses a symmetric structure in which one Pd atom is tetra-coordinated by four sulfur atoms to forms PdS4 and other Pd atom is tetra-coordinated by four nitrogen to forms PdN4 coordination sphere. Density functional theory (DFT) was performed in this study for the Hmtzt ligand and binuclear palladium(II) complexes (1) and (2). The DFT calculation shows PdII-PdII bond lengths of 2.831 and 3.086Å in complex 1 and 2, respectively which are close to the observed bond lengths of 2.802(11) and 3.0911(17)Å from single-crystal X-ray structure. The optimized geometry of the complexes is shown good agreement by X-ray data. Structural properties and molecular descriptors including bond lengths, bond angles, chemical hardness, dipole moment, HOMO-LUMO energy levels, electron transfer were analyzed. The IR spectroscopy was performed using VEDA4 software and UV-Vis spectra were analyzed using time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) method. The theoretical and experimental data were also compared with each other.

Abstract
Two new cobalt(iii) tetrazolato complexes [Co(L1)(PTZ)(N3)] (1) and [Co(L2)(PTZ)(N3)] (2) {where H2L1 = 2((3-(methylamino)propylimino)methyl)-6-methoxyphenol, H2L2 = 2((3-(dimethylamino)propylimino)methyl)-6-ethoxyphenol and HPTZ = 5-(2-pyridyl)tetrazole}, have been synthesized via in situ 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction of 2-cyanopyridine and sodium azide in the presence of cobalt(ii) nitrate hexahydrate and respective Schiff bases in the open atmosphere. The structures of both complexes have been confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. Features of noncovalent interactions in the solid state of both complexes have been studied by means of DFT and MEP calculations and characterized using Bader's theory of “atoms in molecules” (AIM). These complexes act as biomimetic catalysts promoting the aerobic oxidation of 3,5-di-tert-butylcatechol (3,5-DTBC) to the corresponding o-benzoquinone at room temperature. The reaction follows Michaelis–Menten enzymatic reaction kinetics with turnover numbers of ∼0.030 s−1 in an acetonitrile–methanol (2 : 1) mixture. Both complexes are also reactive towards aerobic oxidation of o-aminophenol in acetonitrile–methanol (2 : 1) with turnover numbers ∼0.095 s−1. Two cobalt(iii) tetrazolato complexes have been synthesized and characterized. Noncovalent interactions have been analysed by DFT and MEP calculations and characterized using Bader's theory of AIM. Both complexes catalyze the aerial oxidation of 3,5-DTBC and OAPH.![]()
