Spectral, optical and cytotoxicity studies on 2-isonicotinoyl-N-phenylhydrazine-1-carboxamide(H 3 L) and some of its metal complexes

N'-(Furan-2-ylmethylene)-2-hydroxybenzohydrazide and its metal complexes: synthesis, spectroscopic investigations, DFT calculations and cytotoxicity profiling

The ligand, N'-(furan-2-ylmethylene)-2-hydroxybenzohydrazide (H2L), was synthesized characterized through various spectral studies which cleared out that the free ligand existed in keto form. The ligand upon reaction with Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) acetates yielded complexes with stoichiometric ratio 1:2 (M:L) which has been validated through the elemental and mass spectral measurements. The IR and NMR spectral studies of the isolated complexes disclosed that the ligand chelated to metal ion in mononegative bidentate fashion via the azomethine nitrogen and deprotonated enolized carbonyl oxygen. Moreover, the DFT quantum chemical calculations designated that the ligand and Ni(II) complex exhibited the highest and lowest values of HOMO, LUMO energies and HOMO-LUMO energy gap, respectively. Furthermore, the in vitro cytotoxic activity towards HePG-2 and HCT-116 cell lines of the isolated compounds was investigated and the data cleared out that the ligand was more potent than the metal complexes.

Cu(II)-Catalysed Hydrocarboxylation of Imines Utilizing CO2 to Synthesize α-Unsaturated Aminocarboxylic Acids

Here, we report the Cu(II)-photocatalysed hydrocarboxylation of imines (C=N) from a series of synthesized Schiff Base derivatives, namely (E)-1-(4-((4-methylbenzylidene)amino)phenyl)ethanone, (E)-1-(3-((5-bromo-2-hydroxybenzylidene)amino)phenyl)ethanone, (E)-4-((5-bromo-2-hydroxybenzylidene)amino)-1,5-dimethyl-2-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-3(2H)-one, and (E)-1,5-dimethyl-4-((4-methylbenzylidene)amino)-2-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-3(2H)-one, with carbon dioxide (CO₂) to generate disubstituted amino acids. Under mild conditions (atmospheric pressure of CO₂, room temperature, and 30 W Blue LED light), good to excellent yields confirming the formation of substituted amino acid unsaturated acid derivatives were obtained. Single crystal X-ray diffraction (SC-XRD) and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-Vis-DRS) confirmed the square pyramidal geometry of the Cu(II) photocatalyst. Docking and DFT calculations of the substituted amino acid unsaturated acid derivatives showed their potential as antimicrobial molecules.

Fabricate, advancement, molecular docking and DNA reactivity of preferred divalent metal(II) complexes attributing (E)-N'-((6-hydroxybenzo[d]oxazol-5-yl) methylene)isonicotinohydrazide

A series of metal(II) complexes (M=Co (II), Ni(II) and Cu(II)) supported by Schiff base ligand (L=(E)-N'-((6-hydroxybenzo[d]oxazol-5-yl)methylene)isonicotinohydrazide) has been designed and developed from condensation of 6-hydroxybenzo[d]oxazole-5-carbaldehyde and isoniazid. The ligand (H₂L) and its metal(II) complexes were structurally characterized utilizing a variety of physicochemical and spectroscopic approaches. The study shows that Schiff bases (H₂L) act as monobasic tridentate ONO ligand and conform to octahedral geometry according to the general formula [M(HL)₂]. Furthermore, the interaction of these complexes with CT-DNA was investigated at pH = 7.2, utilizing UV-visible absorption, and viscosity measurement. In order to determine the mechanism of binding of the metal(II) complexes to the B-DNA dodecamer, docking studies were conducted using an AutoDock Vina 1.2.0 tool. The photo induced cleavage reveals that the ligand (H₂L) and its complexes have UV-visible photo nuclease properties against pUC19 DNA by agarose gel electrophoresis technique. Studies showed that the complexes evaluated firmly bind to CT-DNA via intercalative mode and provides a distinctive pattern of DNA binding.

Co(ii), Ni(ii), Cu(ii) and Cd(ii)-thiocarbonohydrazone complexes: spectroscopic, DFT, thermal, and electrical conductivity studies

New and stable coordinated compounds have been isolated in a good yield. The chelates have been prepared by mixing Co(ii), Ni(ii), Cu(ii), and Cd(ii) metal ions with (1E)-1-((6-methyl-4-oxo-4H-chromen-3-yl)methylene)thiocarbonohydrazide (MCMT) in 2 : 1 stoichiometry (MCMT : M²⁺). Various techniques, including elemental microanalyses, molar conductance, thermal studies, FT-IR, ¹H-NMR, UV-Vis, and XRD spectral analyses, magnetic moment measurements, and electrical conductivity, were applied for the structural and spectroscopic elucidation of the coordinating compounds. Further, computational studies using the DFT-B3LYP method were reported for MCMT and its metal complexes. MCMT behaves as a neutral NS bidentate moiety that forms octahedral complexes with general formula [M(MCMT)₂Cl(OH₂)]Cl·XH₂O (M = Cu²⁺; (X = ½), Ni²⁺, Co²⁺; (X = 1)); [Cd(MCMT)₂Cl₂]·½H₂O. There is good confirmation between experimental infrared spectral data and theoretical DFT-B3LYP computational outcomes where MCMT acts as a five-membered chelate bonded to the metal ion through azomethine nitrogen and thiocarbonyl sulphur donors. The thermal analysis is studied to confirm the elucidated structure of the complexes. Also, the kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of the thermal decomposition steps were evaluated. The measured optical band gap values of the prepared compounds exhibited semiconducting nature. AC conductivity and dielectric properties of the ligand and its complexes were examined, which showed that Cu(ii) complex has the highest dielectric constant referring to its high polarization and storage ability.
