Abstract
Beta 2 agonists are well known for their use in the treatment of asthma and COPD however in the last few years new indications of beta 2 agonist appeared like reduction of local fats and treatment of preterm labour which required the formulation of new dosage forms and administration strategies. The new developments require accurate, economic and feasible methods the determination of these drugs to facilitate testing the newly introduced dosage forms and to study the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics regarding the modern uses. In this study two rapid, sensitive and economic colorimetric methods for the determination of salmeterol xinafoate and salbutamol in pharmaceutical dosage forms and spiked plasma were developed and validated. The developed methods depends on the optimized reaction of the studied drugs with two charge transfer reagents, 2,3-dochloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquonone (DDQ) and chloranilic acid (CA) to produce coloured complexes measured at 460 and 529 nm for DDQ and CA respectively. The developed methods showed high accuracy of 99.52 ± 1.108, 101.03 ± 0.389, 100.04 ± 1.520 and 100.3 ± 0.951 for salmetrol xinafoate and salbutamol with DDQ and CA respectively. The proposed methods were successfully used for the determination of the studied drugs in their dosage forms and spiked plasma with high accuracy and precision and the results were compared to reported methods.

Abstract
The proton-transfer complexes 2-amino-4-methoxy-6-methylpyrimidinium (2A4M6MP) 4-aminosalicylate (4AMSA), C6H10N3O+·C7H6NO3
−, I, and 5-chlorosalicylate (5ClSA), C6H10N3O+·C7H4ClO3
−, II, were synthesized by slow evaporation and crystallized. The crystal structures of both I and II were determined by single-crystal X-ray structure analysis. The crystal structures of both salts exhibit O—H...O, N—H...O, N—H...N and C—H...O interactions in their crystals. The 4AMSA and 5ClSA anions in combination with the 2A4M6MP cations form distinct synthons, which are represented by the graph-set notations R
2
2(8), R
4
2(8) and R
2
2(8). Furthermore, the ΔpK
a
values were calculated and clearly demonstrate that 2A4M6MP is a good salt former when combined with carboxylic acids. Hirshfeld surface analysis was used to quantify the weak and strong interactions in the solid state, and energy framework calculations showed the stability of the hydrogen-bonding interactions. QTAIM (quantum theory of atoms in molecules) analysis revealed the nature of the chemical bonding in I and II, and the charge–density distribution in the intermolecular interactions in the crystal structures.

Abstract
Avermectin (AVM) is a biopesticide with low toxicity and high activity, but has limited use due to its poor water solubility and easy decomposition. A delivery system that can stabilize this biopesticide can play a significant role for improving its biological activity. Herein, water-dispersible functionalized polysuccinimide nanoparticles (PAD) were prepared by a ring-opening reaction and subsequently used to encapsulate AVM via self-assembly to form AVM@PAD nanoparticles with a loading ratio of 10.04 %. The half-life under UV radiation (300 W) of AVM@PAD was three times higher than that of free AVM, demonstrating the excellent protective ability of PAD. In addition, AVM@PAD nanoparticles could sustain the release of AVM for 70 h with a cumulative release rate of 70 %. AVM@PAD nanoparticles also showed a pH-responsive release, and their maximum cumulative release rate was at neutral pH. Moreover, the median lethal concentration (LC50) value of AVM@PAD with respect to Plutella xylostella was 34.50 mg/L, while that of free AVM was 56.05 mg/L. These results showed that the AVM@PAD nanoparticles can potentially and effectively promote drug stability and biological activity in agriculture.

Abstract
The design and development of one-component temperature-sensitive bioactive hydrogel with multifunctional properties for protecting skin against light injury remain a challenge. Herein, we report a bioactive multifunctional poly(salicylic acid)-F127-poly(salicylic acid) copolymer hydrogel (FPSa) with one-component for potential skin protection applications. The FPSa hydrogel possesses the thermosensitivity (23 °C), injectability, self-healing ability, ultraviolet shielding (shielding the wavelength between 280 and 370 nm), and antioxidation activity (above 70%), and also showed the good cytocompatibility (cell survival rate >90% and hemolysis rate less than 5%) and biodegradability (90% weight loss at 3 days). The in vivo animal model showed that FPSa hydrogel could effectively protect the skin tissue and prevent the ultraviolet induced injury. This study can provide a strategy to design multifunctional bioactive hydrogel with simple composition for disease therapy and regenerative medicine.

Abstract
Finding a vaccine or cure for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) responsible for the worldwide pandemic and its economic, medical, and psychological burdens is one of the most pressing issues presently facing the global community. One of the current treatment protocols involves the antibiotic azithromycin (AZM) alone or in combination with other compounds. Obtaining additional insight into the charge-transfer (CT) chemistry of this antibiotic could help researchers and clinicians to improve such treatment protocols. Toward this aim, we investigated the CT interactions between AZM and three π-acceptors: picric acid (PA), chloranilic acid (CLA), and chloranil (CHL) in MeOH solvent. AZM formed colored products at a 1:1 stoichiometry with the acceptors through intermolecular hydrogen bonding. An n → π* interaction was also proposed for the AZM-CHL CT product. The synthesized CT products had markedly different morphologies from the free reactants, exhibiting a semi-crystalline structure composed of spherical particles with diameters ranging from 50 to 90 nm.

Abstract
Around the world, the antibiotic azithromycin (AZM) is currently being used to treat the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in conjunction with hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine. Investigating the chemical and physical properties of compounds used alone or in combination to combat the COVID-19 pandemic is of vital and pressing importance. The purpose of this study was to characterize the charge transfer (CT) complexation of AZM with iodine in four different solvents: CH2Cl2, CHCl3, CCl4, and C6H5Cl. AZM reacted with iodine at a 1:1 M ratio (AZM to I2) in the CHCl3 solvent and a 1:2 M ratio in the other three solvents, as evidenced by data obtained from an elemental analysis of the solid CT products and spectrophotometric titration and Job's continuous variation method for the soluble CT products. Data obtained from UV-visible and Raman spectroscopies indicated that AZM strongly interacted with iodine in the CH2Cl2, CCl4, and C6H5Cl solvents by a physically potent n→σ* interaction to produce a tri-iodide complex formulated as [AZM·I+]I3 -. XRD and TEM analyses revealed that, in all solvents, the AZM-I2 complex possessed an amorphous structure composed of spherical particles ranging from 80 to 110 nm that tended to aggregate into clusters. The findings described in the present study will hopefully contribute to optimizing the treatment protocols for COVID-19.
