Abstract
Graphite carbon nitride (g-C3N4) is a promising photocatalyst, but its inadequate reactive sites, weak visible light responsiveness, and sluggish separation of photogenerated carriers hamperthe improvement of photodegradation efficiency. In this work, potassium (K) and halogen atoms co-modified g-C3N4 photocatalysts (CN-KX, X = F, Cl, Br, I) were constructed to adjust the electrical and band structure for enhanced generation of reactive oxygen species. Through an integration of theoretical calculation and experimental exploration, the doping sites of halogen atoms as well as the evolution of crystal, band, and electronic structures were investigated. The results show that a covalent bond is formed between the F atom and the C atom, substitution of the N atom occurs with a Cl atom, and doping of Br, I, or K atoms takes place at the interstitial site. CN-KX photocatalysts exhibits lower band gap, faster photogenerated electron migration, and enhanced photocatalytic activity. Specifically, the CN-KI photocatalyst exhibits the highest photodegradation efficiency because of its smaller interplanar spacing, formation of the midgap state, and adjustable local electron density. Equally, the doping of I atom not only provides a stable adsorption site for oxygen (O2) but also facilitates electron transfer, promoting the production of superoxide radicals (O2-) and contributing to the process of photodegradation.

Fabrication of Copper(II)-Coated Magnetic Core-Shell Nanoparticles Fe3O4@SiO2: An Effective and Recoverable Catalyst for Reduction/Degradation of Environmental Pollutants. CRYSTALS 2022. Abstract
In this work, we report the synthesis of a magnetically recoverable catalyst through immobilizing copper (II) over the Fe3O4@SiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) surface [Fe3O4@SiO2-L–Cu(II)] (L = pyridine-4-carbaldehyde thiosemicarbazide). Accordingly, synthesized catalysts were determined and characterized by energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and thermogravimetric-differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA) procedures. The [Fe3O4@SiO2-L–Cu(II)] was used for the reduction of Cr(VI), 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) and organic dyes such as Congo Red (CR) and methylene blue (MB) in aqueous media. Catalytic performance studies showed that the [Fe3O4@SiO2–L–Cu(II)] has excellent activity toward reduction reactions under mild conditions. Remarkable attributes of this method are high efficiency, removal of a homogeneous catalyst, easy recovery from the reaction mixture, and uncomplicated route. The amount of activity in this catalytic system was almost constant after several stages of recovery and reuse. The results show that the catalyst was easily separated and retained 83% of its efficiency after five cycles without considerable loss of activity and stability.

Abstract
Nitrobenzene compounds are highly toxic pollutants with good stability, and they have a major negative impact on both human health and the ecological environment. Herein, it was found for the first time that fluorescent DNA-silver nanoclusters (DNA-AgNCs) can catalyze the reduction of toxic and harmful nitro compounds into less toxic amino compounds with excellent tolerance to high temperature and organic solvents. In this study, the reduction of p-nitrophenol (4-NP) as a model was systematically investigated, followed by expending the substrate to disclose the versatility of this reaction. This report not only expanded the conditions for utilizing catalytic reduction conditions of DNA-AgNCs as an efficient catalyst in the control of hazardous chemicals but also widened the substrate range of DNA-AgNCs reduction, providing a new angle for the application of noble metal nanoclusters.
