Abstract
A one-pot, efficient oxidative-condensation process for constructing both 4-alkyl and 4-aryl-5-(arylthio) thiazol-2-amines using DMSO/I2 is introduced. In this procedure, methyl ketones, thiourea, DMSO, and thiols are reacted together in the presence of molecular I2 at 80 °C simply to produce 4-alkyl or aryl-5-(arylthio)thiazol-2-amines due to formation of a C-S bond between thiourea and methyl carbon linked to carbonyl group and the another C-S bond formation between thiol and thiazol ring. Under reaction conditions, both aryl and alkyl methyl ketones including acetophenone and substituted acetophenones also, 2-alkanones such as acetone, 2-butanone, 2-pentanone, and 2-heptanone yield those products successfully.

Abstract
The introduction of toxic chemicals into the environment can result in water pollution leading to the degradation of biodiversity as well as human health. This study presents a new approach of using metal oxides (Al2O3 and SiO2) modified with a plasmonic metal (silver, Ag) nanoparticles (NPs)-based nanofluid (NF) formulation for environmental remediation purposes. Firstly, we prepared the Al2O3 and SiO2 NFs of different concentrations (0.2 to 2.0 weight %) by ultrasonic-assisted dispersion of Al2O3 and SiO2 NPs with water as the base fluid. The thermo-physical (viscosity, activation energy, and thermal conductivity), electrical (AC conductivity and dielectric constant) and physical (ultrasonic velocity, density, refractive index) and stability characteristics were comparatively evaluated. The Al2O3 and SiO2 NPs were then catalytically activated by loading silver NPs to obtain Al2O3/SiO2@Ag composite NPs. The catalytic reduction of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) with Al2O3/SiO2@Ag based NFs was followed. The catalytic efficiency of Al2O3@Ag NF and SiO2@Ag NF, for the 4-NP catalysis, is compared. Based on the catalytic rate constant evaluation, the catalytic reduction efficiency for 4-NP is found to be superior for 2% weight Al2O3@Ag NF (92.9 × 10−3 s−1) as compared to the SiO2@Ag NF (29.3 × 10−3 s−1). Importantly, the enhanced catalytic efficiency of 2% weight Al2O3@Ag NF for 4-NP removal is much higher than other metal NPs based catalysts reported in the literature, signifying the importance of NF formulation-based catalysis.

Abstract
A solution casting technique was applied to prepare a binary poly (vinyl alcohol)/Al2O3 nanocomposite. The structural properties of nanocomposite were investigated using Fourier-transform infrared spectra, field emission scanning electron microscope, energy dispersive X-ray analyses, and X-ray diffraction. The hybrid PVA/Al2O3 film exhibited a conspicuous catalytic performance for synthesis of thiazole derivatives under mild reaction conditions. Moreover, the optimization of catalytic efficiency and reusability of this nanocomposite have been investigated.

Abstract
The aim of this work consists on the synthesis of a nanomaterial for heavy metal ion removal from aqueous solutions. Al-doped ZnO (ZnO:Alx%) nanopowders with 0 to 5% Al content are prepared via an amended sol-gel method. The morphology and microstructure of the prepared ZnO:Alx% are probed by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray particles diffraction (XRD) analysis, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and elemental mapping. The findings reveal the prevalence of the hexagonal wurtzite ZnO structure with increasing crystallite size (45 to 60 nm) as a result of Al doping. SEM images show nearly spherical nanoparticles with considerable aggregation. EDS and elemental mapping analysis confirm the incorporation of Al within ZnO host lattice. The relatively large surface area as estimated from N2 adsorption makes the nanopowders very favorable for the uptake Cd(II), Cr (IV), Co (II) and Ni(II) from aqueous solution. The ZnO:Alx% with 1 wt% Al exhibits the highest uptake rate of heavy metal ions. The adsorption process has been found to be spontaneous and endothermic and obey Langmuir adsorption model. The high tendency of the prepared nanoparticles to eliminate heavy metal ions renders them suitable candidates for environmental remediation. Desorption studies with 0.1 M NaOH indicate that ZnO:Alx% can be regenerated effectively.
