Abstract
In this present work, we calculate the electronic, spectroscopic and nonlinear optical properties (NLO) of N-dialkyl-imidazolium hexafluorophosphate (CNMIM.PF6, where N = 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20) ionic liquid crystal molecules under the effect of alkyl chain length variation in cation moiety [CNMIM]+ with fixed anion [PF6]-. CONTEXT: The majority of research on ionic liquid crystal to date has been focused on experiments, while theoretical studies on the optical properties of ionic liquid crystal have been extremely rare. Nonlinear phenomena in optical devices have attracted many researchers. Therefore, results of NLO properties may favor facile synthesis and fabrication of novel-type of materials as well as optoelectronic devices. Spectroscopic studies elucidate further insight into ionic liquid crystal behavior. The results demonstrate that variations in alkyl chain length have an impact on the conformers' electrical, spectroscopic, and NLO properties as well as their stability. The stability of ionic liquid crystal molecules increases with increase in the alkyl chain length and the energy band gap range is 6.64-6.29 eV. Understanding ionic liquid crystal's physical behavior requires an understanding of their dipole moments and NLO features, which are covered in this article. The results of NLO characteristics for all ionic liquid crystal molecules show that their first-order hyperpolarizabilities are higher than the reference molecule (urea). METHODS: The electronic (molecular energy band gap, electrostatic potential map, as well as HOMO-LUMO orbitals) and spectroscopic (IR-RAMAN, UV) properties were evaluated with the help of theoretical model at B3LYP/6-31G(d) while the NLO study has been performed using B3LYP and M06-2X with different basis sets 6-31G(d) and 6-311++G(d,p), as implemented in Gaussian09 software.

Abstract
Alpha-lipoic acid is an organic, sulfate-based compound produced by plants, humans, and animals. As a potent antioxidant and a natural dithiol compound, it performs a crucial role in mitochondrial bioenergetic reactions. A healthy human body, on the other hand, can synthesize enough α-lipoic acid to scavenge reactive oxygen species and increase endogenous antioxidants; however, the amount of α-lipoic acid inside the body decreases significantly with age, resulting in endothelial dysfunction. Molecular orbital energy and spin density analysis indicate that the sulfhydryl (-SH) group of molecules has the greatest electron donating activity, which would be responsible for the antioxidant potential and free radical scavenging activity. α-Lipoic acid acts as a chelating agent for metal ions, a quenching agent for reactive oxygen species, and a reducing agent for the oxidized form of glutathione and vitamins C and E. α-Lipoic acid enantiomers and its reduced form have antioxidant, cognitive, cardiovascular, detoxifying, anti-aging, dietary supplement, anti-cancer, neuroprotective, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties. α-Lipoic acid has cytotoxic and antiproliferative effects on several cancers, including polycystic ovarian syndrome. It also has usefulness in the context of female and male infertility. Although α-lipoic acid has numerous clinical applications, the majority of them stem from its antioxidant properties; however, its bioavailability in its pure form is low (approximately 30%). However, nanoformulations have shown promise in this regard. The proton affinity and electron donating activity, as a redox-active agent, would be responsible for the antioxidant potential and free radical scavenging activity of the molecule. This review discusses the most recent clinical data on α-lipoic acid in the prevention, management, and treatment of a variety of diseases, including coronavirus disease 2019. Based on current evidence, the preclinical and clinical potential of this molecule is discussed. LANGMUIR : THE ACS JOURNAL OF SURFACES AND COLLOIDS 2021; 37:14713-14723. Abstract
Rheological properties are critical for determining real applications of supramolecular gels in various fields. Correspondingly, the modulation of gel rheology will be very important for meeting real requirements. In this aspect, a few strategies were applied to tune the rheological behaviors of supramolecular gels, but some specific interactions like charge transfer (CT) interactions were less explored at the molecular level. Herein, we report a pyrene-containing derivative of diphenylalanine as a donor gelator and naphthalenediimide or 3,5-dinitrobenzene as matching acceptor molecules. It was found that the viscoelastic properties and strength of the original gel could be tuned through addition of different acceptor molecules to the original gel with changing the ratios of the selected acceptor molecules. As a result, storage modulus was continuously adjusted over a wide range from 190,000 to 50,000 Pa by CT interactions. Furthermore, the mechanism of the CT-induced change in rheological properties was understood and clarified through relevant techniques (e.g., UV-Vis, fluorescence, and FT-IR spectroscopy and TEM). The findings in this work would provide a novel strategy to modulate the rheological properties of supramolecular gels for adaption to broader fields of real applications.

Abstract
A new approach of characterizing the specific properties of 4-(trans-4'-n-alkylcyclohexyl) benzoates, based on the interaction of the acidic and basic testing substances, for their form Crystalline, Smectic B and Nematic have been proposed. The testing substances selected for our study have been considered in the light of the results obtained in the previous research and the data available in the literature for other liquid crystals with different structures. The DN values denoting the electron donor number in the Gutmann scale and the AN* values indicating the acceptor number in the Riddle-Fowkes scale have been chosen in the estimation of the electron acceptor parameter KA and electron donor parameter KD values. The temperature-dependent quotients of KA to KD are employed for the assessment of the electron donor-acceptor properties of 4-(trans-4'-n-alkylcyclohexyl) benzoates. The 4-(trans-4'-n-alkyl cyclohexyl) benzoates tested have the affinity to act as a donor of electrons concerning electron acceptor of the testing substance. The sizes and shapes effects of the testing substances (or penetrants) and the LCs tested (or solvents while in mesophases) are taken into account. The inverse gas chromatography tests were supported by the Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship modelling technique to determine which part (or group) of liquid crystals tested was dominant in the interaction with the testing substances.
