New hybrid nanostructures based on keggin-type 12-tungstophosphate and some metal-semicarbazone complexes: Synthesis, x-ray crystal structures and spectroscopic studies

Synthesis and Characterisation of Monolacunary Keggin Monovanado-deca-tungstophosphate and Its Complexes with Transition Metal Cations

Five new complexes with metal cations (Mn²⁺, Fe³⁺, Co²⁺, Ni²⁺, and Cu²⁺) of monolacunary Keggin monovanado-deca-tungstophosphate, K₈[PVW₁₀O₃₉]·15H₂O, have been synthesised. The molar ratio of the combination between metal cations and K₈[PVW₁₀O₃₉]·15H₂O has been established to be 1:1, and its general molecular formulas were found to be: K_n[MPVW₁₀O₃₉(H₂O)]·xH₂O (n = 5 for M = Fe³⁺ and n = 6 for M = Mn²⁺, Co²⁺, Ni²⁺, and Cu²⁺). Optimal conditions for complexes' synthesis (pH, temperature, and reaction time) have been determined. The characterisation of K₈[PVW₁₀O₃₉]·15H₂O and of its compounds K_n[MPVW₁₀O₃₉(H₂O)]·xH₂O have been performed using AAS, TG-DTA-DTG, UV-VIS, IR, Raman, and powder XRD methods. In UV spectra, two maximums of absorption were obtained, at 200 and 250 nm, characteristic of Keggin polycondensate compounds. The coordination of cations Ni²⁺, Co²⁺, and Cu²⁺ through oxygen atoms from K₈[PVW₁₀O₃₉]·15H₂O in an octahedron system has been reflected with VIS spectroscopy. All these methods have proved the compositions and structures of K₈[PVW₁₀O₃₉]·15H₂O and K_n[MPVW₁₀O₃₉(H₂O)]·xH₂O, their similarity with other vanadotungstophosphates, and their achievements in the Keggin class. Additionally, all analysis methods have shown an increase in the degree of structural symmetry and the thermal stability of a polyoxoanion complex after attaching metal cations compared to the monolacunary, K₈[PVW₁₀O₃₉]·15H₂O.

Synergistic Catalysis of Ionic Liquid-Decorated Covalent Organic Frameworks with Polyoxometalates for CO2 Cycloaddition Reaction under Mild Conditions

The cycloaddition of carbon dioxide (CO₂) with epoxides to yield highly value-added cyclic carbonates is an effective way to chemically utilize and convert CO₂. Here, a heterogeneous catalyst of imidazole ionic liquid-decorated covalent organic framework with polyoxometalates (POM@ImTD-COF) was constructed by the covalent modification of ionic liquids to COFs and the electrostatic interaction between POMs and ionic liquids. The obtained POM@ImTD-COF shows high catalytic activity for CO₂ cycloaddition reaction under mild conditions (1 atm and 80 °C) in the presence of a co-catalyst, and the catalytic activity of POM@ImTD-COF has no obvious decrease during reusing five times. The excellent catalytic performance is mainly attributed to the synergistic effect of ionic liquids, POMs, and COFs. In the cycloaddition process, ionic liquids and the co-catalyst weaken the C-O bond of epoxides and promote the ring opening of epoxides. POMs as the Lewis acids facilitate the insertion of CO₂ to form reaction intermediates. The multiple activation effect of ionic liquids and POMs together with the CO₂ adsorption effect and well-dispersed active sites in COFs contribute to the remarkable catalytic performance.

Hydroxyapatite-Supported Polyoxometalates for the Highly Selective Aerobic Oxidation of 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural or Glucose to 2,5-Diformylfuran under Atmospheric Pressure

(NH4 )5 H6 PV8 Mo4 O40 supported on hydroxyapatite (HAP) (PMo4 V8 /HAP (n)) was prepared through the ion exchange of hydroxy groups. This ion exchange favored the oxidative conversion of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) to 2,5-diformylfuran (DFF) in a one-pot cascade reaction with 96.0 % conversion and 83.8 % yield under 10 mL/min of O2 flow. PMo4 V8 /HAP (31) was used to explore the production of DFF directly from glucose with the highest yield of 47.9 % so far under atmospheric oxygen, whereas the yield of DFF increased to 54.7 % in a one-pot and two-step reaction. These results indicated that the active sites in PMo4 V8 /HAP (31) retained their activities without any interference toward one another, which enabled the production of DFF in a more cost-saving way by only using oxygen and one catalyst in a one-step reaction. Meanwhile, the rigid structure of HAP and strong interaction in PMo4 V8 /HAP (31) allowed this catalyst to be reused for at least six times with high stability and duration.
