Abstract
The successful fabrication is reported of highly crystalline Co nanoparticles interconnected with zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF-12) -based amorphous porous carbon using the molten-salt-assisted approach utilizing NaCl. Single crystal diffractometers (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analyses confirm the codoped amorphous carbon structure. Crystallite size was calculated by Scherrer (34 nm) and Williamson-Hall models (42 nm). The magnetic properties of NPCS (N-doped porous carbon sheet) were studied using a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The NPCS has a magnetic saturation (Ms) value of 1.85 emu/g. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analyses show that Co/Co3O4 nanoparticles are homogeneously distributed in the carbon matrix. While a low melting point eutectic salt acts as an ionic liquid solvent, ZIF-12, at high temperature, leading cobalt nanoparticles with a trace amount of Co3O4 interconnected by conductive amorphous carbon. In addition, the surface area (89.04 m2/g) and pore architectures of amorphous carbon embedded with Co nanoparticles are created using the molten salt approach. Thanks to this inexpensive and effective method, the optimal composite porous carbon structures were obtained with the strategy using NaCl salt and showed distinct electrochemical performance on electrochemical methodology revealing the analytical profile of Erdatifinib (ERD) as a sensor modifier. The linear response spanned from 0.01 to 7.38 μM, featuring a limit of detection (LOD) of 3.36 nM and a limit of quantification (LOQ) of 11.2 nM. The developed sensor was examined in terms of selectivity, repeatability, and reproducibility. The fabricated electrode was utilized for the quantification of Erdafitinib in urine samples and pharmaceutical dosage forms. This research provides a fresh outlook on the advancements in electrochemical sensor technology concerning the development and detection of anticancer drugs within the realms of medicine and pharmacology.

Abstract
To develop an electrochemical sensor for electroactive molecules, the choice and prediction of redox reactive sites of the modifier play a critical role in establishing the sensing mediating mechanism. Therefore, to understand the mediating mechanism of the modifier, we used advanced density functional theory (DFT)-based quantum chemical modeling. A carbon paste electrode (CPE) was modified with electropolymerization of brilliant blue, later employed for the detection of paracetamol (PA) and folic acid (FA). PA is an analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic prescription commonly used in medical fields, and overdose or prolonged use may harm the liver and kidney. The deficiency of FA associated with neural tube defects (NTDs) and therefore the quantification of FA are very essential to prevent the problems associated with congenital deformities of the spinal column, skull and brain of the fetus in pregnant women. Hence, an electrochemical sensor based on a polymerized brilliant blue-modified carbon paste working electrode (BRB/CPE) was fabricated for the quantification of PA and FA in physiological pH. The real analytical applicability of the proposed sensor was judged by employing it in analysis of a pharmaceutical sample, and good recovery results were obtained. The potential excipients do not have a significant contribution to the electro-oxidation of PA at BRB/CPE, which makes it a promising electrochemical sensing platform. The real analytical applicability of the proposed method is valid for pharmaceutical analysis in the presence of possible excipients. The prediction of redox reactive sites of the modifier by advanced quantum chemical modeling-based DFT may lay a new foundation for researchers to establish the modifier–analyte interaction mechanisms.

Abstract
The detection of folic acid in biological samples or pharmaceutical products is of great importance due to its implications in the biological functions of the human body, along with the development and growth of the fetus. The deficiency of folic acid can be reversed by the intake of different pharmaceutical formulations or alimentary products fortified with this molecule. The elaboration of sensing platforms represents a continuous work in progress, a task in which the use of conductive polymers modified with different functionalities represents one of the outcoming strategies. The possibility of manipulating their morphology with the use of templates or surfactants represents another advantage. A sensing platform based on carboxylic functionalized polypyrrole was synthesized via the electrochemical approach in the presence of a polymeric surfactant on a graphite-based surface. The sensor was able to detect the folic acid from 2.5 μM to 200 μM with a calculated limited of detection of 0.8 μM. It was employed for the detection of the analyte from commercial human serum and pharmaceutical products with excellent recovery rates. The results were double checked using an optimized spectrophotometric procedure that confirmed furthermore the performances of the sensor related to real samples assessment.

Abstract
This study is on current developments concerning ferrocene (FC) and its derivatives on the basis of electrochemical biosensors and sensors. The distinct physiochemical characteristics of FC have enabled the development of new sensor devices, specifically electrochemical sensors. Several articles have focused on the implementation of FC as an electrode constituent while discussing its electrochemical behavior. Furthermore, typical FC-design-based biosensors and sensors are considered as well as practical examples. The favorable design of FC-based biosensors and general sensors needs adequate control of their chemical and physical characteristics in addition to their surface immobilization and functionalization.

Abstract
An electrochemical sensor for detection of the content of aspartame was developed by modifying a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) with multi-walled carbon nanotubes decorated with zinc oxide nanoparticles and in-situ wrapped with poly(2-methacryloyloxyethyl ferrocenecarboxylate) (MWCNTs@ZnO/PMAEFc). MWCNTs@ZnO/PMAEFc nanohybrids were prepared through reaction of zinc acetate dihydrate with LiOH·H2O, followed by reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization of 2-methacryloyloxyethyl ferrocenecarboxylate, and were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Raman, X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), atomic force microscope (AFM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and transmission electron microscope (TEM) techniques. The electrochemical properties of the prepared nanohybrids with various composition ratios were examined by cyclic voltammetry (CV), and the trace additives in food and/or beverage was detected by using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The experimental results indicated that the prepared nanohybrids for fabrication of electrochemical modified electrodes possess active electroresponse, marked redox current, and good electrochemical reversibility, which could be mediated by changing the system formulations. The nanohybrid modified electrode sensors had a good peak current linear dependence on the analyte concentration with a wide detection range and a limit of detection as low as about 1.35 × 10-9 mol L-1, and the amount of aspartame was measured to be 35.36 and 40.20 µM in Coke zero, and Sprite zero, respectively. Therefore, the developed nanohybrids can potentially be used to fabricate novel electrochemical sensors for applications in the detection of beverage and food safety.

Abstract
An electrode has been developed based on using a composite of hematoxylin/graphene/ZnO nanocomposite to modify a glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The electrode (HGGCE) was tested and found to be applicable for the voltammetric analysis of levodopa in the presence of vitamin B6, theophylline and guaifenesin using a 0.1 M phosphate buffer solution (PBS) pH 7 as the solvent. The HGGCE was used as the working electrode in cyclic voltammetry (CV) and square wave voltammetry (SWV) studies on the electrochemical behavior of levodopa at its surface. The results showed a dramatic enhancement in the oxidation current of levodopa and a shift in its oxidation potential towards more negative potentials as opposed to identical tests using bare GCE as the working electrode. The studies showed that the increase in the oxidation current has two linear profiles in two concentration ranges of 0.05 - 90.0 and 90.0 - 1000.0 μM. The detection limit of SWV analysis using the modified electrode was determined to be 0.03 μM (S/N = 3). Further advantages of the methods based on HGGCE include the simple modification procedure of the electrode, as well as its excellent sensitivity and reproducibility. The modified electrode was eventually found to be applicable to the determination of mixtures of levodopa, vitamin B6, theophylline and guaifenesin in real samples.

Abstract
A noble glassy carbon electrode modified with Au nanoparticles and 2-amino-4-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-6-(hydroxymethyl)-8-oxo-4,8-dihydropyrano[3,2-b]pyran-3-carbonitrile, was fabricated for electrocatalytic determination of hydrazine (AuNPs/APP/GCE). Large over-potential and interference of some species are two limitation factors for the determination of hydrazine at bare electrode. This modified electrode is able to shift a signal to the negative potential, and can amplify the oxidation current of hydrazine by 28.0 time, compared to bare electrode. The diffusion coefficient, D, and the heterogeneous rate constant, kh, for the oxidation of hydrazine at the modified surface were calculated by chronoamperometric studies. Finally, the fabricated sensor was agreeably utilized for the determination of hydrazine in real samples.

Abstract
Biomedical application of selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) demands the eco-friendly composite for synthesis of SeNPs. The present study reports an aqueous extract of Allium sativum (AqEAS) plug-up the current need. Modern spectroscopic, microscopic and gravimetric techniques were employed to characterize the synthesized nanoparticles. Characterization studies revealed the formation of crystalline spherical shaped SeNPs. FTIR spectrum brings out the presence of different functional groups in AqEAS, which influence the SeNPs formation and stabilization. Furthermore the different aspects of the interaction between SeNPs and CT-DNA were scrutinized by various spectroscopic and cyclic voltametric studies. The results reveals the intercalation and groove binding mode of interaction of SeNPs with stacked base pair of CT-DNA. The Stern-Volmer quenching constant (KSV) were found to be 7.02×106M-1 (ethidium bromide), 4.22×106 M-1 (acridine orange) and 7.6×106M-1 (Hoechst) indicating strong binding of SeNPs with CT-DNA. The SeNPs - CT-DNA interactions were directly visualized by atomic force microscopy. The present study unveils the cost effective, innocuous, highly stable SeNPs intricate mechanism of DNA interaction, which will be a milestone in DNA targeted chemotherapy.

Abstract
Free radicals are formed as byproducts of metabolism, and are highly unstable due to the presence of unpaired electrons. They readily react with other important cellular components such as DNA causing them damage. Antioxidants such as (+)-catechin (CAT), neutralize free radicals in the blood stream. Hence there is a need for detection and quantification of catechin concentration in various food sources and beverages. Electro-oxidative properties of catechin were investigated using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). A carbon paste working electrode modified by electropolymerizing methylene blue (MB) was fabricated. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) techniques were used to study the surface morphology of the electrode. Quasi-reversible electron transfer reaction occurred at +0.260V through a diffusion controlled process. In comparison to the bare carbon paste electrode (CPE), there was a significant 5.3 times increment in anodic current sensitivity at the modified electrode at physiological pH. Our findings indicate that for the electro-oxidation of CAT, CPE is a better base material for electropolymerization of MB compared to glassy carbon electrode (GCE). Nyquist plot followed the theoretical shape, indicating low interfacial charge transfer resistance of 0.095kΩ at the modified electrode. Calibration plots obtained by DPV were linear in two ranges of 1.0×10-3 to 1.0×10-6 and 1.0×10-7 to 0.1×10-8M. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) was 4.9nM and 14nM respectively. Application of the developed electrode was demonstrated by detecting catechin in green tea and spiked fruit juice with satisfactory recoveries. The sensor was stable, sensitive, selective and reproducible.

Abstract
It has been reported that tungsten disulfide (WS2) can bind single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) with high affinity while it has less affinity toward double stranded DNA (dsDNA). In this work, for the first time, the high affinity between WS2 and ssDNA was used to construct stable sensing interface for ATP detection. A DNA sequence with -SH at one end was first immobilized on Au electrode. WS2 nanosheets were immobilized on the SH-DNA/Au electrode surface due to the strong affinity between WS2 and ssDNA. Then the WS2 nanosheets were used to immobilize ATP binding aptamer (ABA) through the high affinity between WS2 and ssDNA, too. When ATP reacts with the ABA aptamer, duplex will be formed and dissociated from the WS2 nanosheets. On the basis of this, an electrochemical aptasensor for ATP was fabricated. This ATP sensor showed high sensitivity, selectivity and stability due to the unique WS2-ssDNA interactions and the specific aptamer-target recognition. Furthermore, this strategy was generalized to detect Hg2+ using a mercury-specific aptamer (MSO). This strategy can be expected to offer a promising approach for designing high-performance electrochemical aptasensors for a spectrum of targets.
