Abstract
Electrospinning technique is well-known for the generation of different fibers. While it is a "simple" technique, it lies in the fact that the fibers are typically produced in the form of densely packed two-dimensional (2D) mats with limited thickness, shape, and porosity. The highly demanded three-dimensional (3D) fiber assemblies have been explored by time-consuming postprocessing and/or complex setup modifications. Here, we use a classic electrospinning setup to directly produce 3D fiber macrostructures only by modulating the spinning solution. Increasing solution conductivity modifies electrodynamic jet behavior and fiber assembling process; both are observed in situ using a high-speed camera. More viscous solutions render thicker fibers that own enhanced mechanical stiffness as examined by finite element analysis. We reveal the correlation between the universal solution parameters and the dimensionality of fiber assemblies, thereof, enlightening the design of more "3D spinnable" solutions that are compatible with any commercial electrospinning equipment. After a calcination step, ultralightweight ceramic fiber assemblies are generated. These inexpensive materials can clean up exceptionally large fractions of oil spillages and provide high-performance thermal insulation. This work would drive the development and scale-up production of next-generation 3D fiber materials for engineering, biomedical, and environmental applications.

Abstract
Tissue engineering (TE) has attracted the widespread attention of the research community as a method of producing patient-specific tissue constructs for the repair and replacement of injured tissues. To date, different types of scaffold materials have been developed for various tissues and organs. The choice of scaffold material should take into consideration whether the mechanical properties, biodegradability, biocompatibility, and bioresorbability meet the physiological properties of the tissues. Owing to their broad range of physico-chemical properties, inorganic materials can induce a series of biological responses as scaffold fillers, which render them a good alternative to scaffold materials for tissue engineering (TE). While it is of worth to further explore mechanistic insight into the use of inorganic nanomaterials for tissue repair, in this review, we mainly focused on the utilization forms and strategies for fabricating electrospun membranes containing inorganic components based on electrospinning technology. A particular emphasis has been placed on the biological advantages of incorporating inorganic materials along with organic materials as scaffold constituents for tissue repair. As well as widely exploited natural and synthetic polymers, inorganic nanomaterials offer an enticing platform to further modulate the properties of composite scaffolds, which may help further broaden the application prospect of scaffolds for TE.

Abstract
Electrospinning (e-spinning) has been widely applied to fabricate flat films accumulated by microfibers for tissue engineering. In order to acquire an uneven surface morphology, two methods have been applied traditionally. The first uses a designed receiving substrate, which is stable, but suppresses the flexibility. The second uses dual solvents to achieve bimodal distribution of the fiber diameter. However, the bimodal fiber diameter causes inhomogeneity. To solve these challenges, cryogenic electrospinning, using a flat substrate and a single solvent, was performed in this study to obtain uneven films. By applying a low temperature to the flat receiving substrate, uneven e-spun films with wall-like structures were achieved through the self-assembly of uniform filaments. In addition, the wall-like structures enhanced the mechanical properties of the e-spun films. Moreover, the cryogenic e-spinning produced micropores on the fiber surface, which have the potential to promote esophageal epithelial cell adhesion, proliferation and differentiation.

Tissue Engineering 3D Porous Scaffolds Prepared from Electrospun Recombinant Human Collagen (RHC) Polypeptides/Chitosan Nanofibers. APPLIED SCIENCES-BASEL 2021. Abstract
Electrospinning, the only method that can continuously produce nanofibers, has been widely used to prepare nanofibers for tissue engineering applications. However, electrospinning is not suitable for preparing clinically relevant three-dimensional (3D) nanofibrous scaffolds with hierarchical pore structures. In this study, recombinant human collagen (RHC)/chitosan nanofibers prepared by electrospinning were combined with porous scaffolds produced by freeze drying to fabricate 3D nanofibrous scaffolds. These scaffolds exhibited high porosity (over 80%) and an interconnected porous structure (ranging from sub-micrometers to 200 μm) covered with nanofibers. As confirmed by the characterization results, these scaffolds showed good swelling ability, stability, and adequate mechanical strength, making it possible to use the 3D nanofibrous scaffolds in various tissue engineering applications. In addition, after seven days of cell culturing, NIH 3T3 was infiltrated into the scaffolds while maintaining its morphology and with superior proliferation and viability. These results indicated that the 3D nanofibrous scaffolds hold great promise for tissue engineering applications.
