Abstract
PURPOSE This study aimed to investigate the usefulness of measuring biomechanical parameters using the Corvis ST to predict the occurrence of hypotony maculopathy and choroidal detachment (CD) following trabeculectomy or bleb needling revision with mitomycin C. DESIGN Clinical cohort study. METHODS This study included 100 eyes of 100 patients who underwent trabeculectomy (88 eyes of 88 patients) or bleb needling (12 eyes of 12 patients) with mitomycin C. A significant predictor of hypotony complications was identified from (1) operation (trabeculectomy or bleb needling), (2) age, (3) sex, (4) disease type (primary open-angle glaucoma, exfoliation glaucoma or other), (5) lens status (phakia or pseudophakia), (6) preoperative Goldmann applanation tonometry (GAT) intraocular pressure (IOP), (7) preoperative central corneal thickness (CCT), (8) preoperative axial length (AL), (9) preoperative anterior chamber depth, (10) "Min IOP" (IOP value when hypotony complications occurred, otherwise the minimum IOP during 3 months from trabeculectomy or bleb needling), (11) preoperative corneal curvature, and (12-24) 12 Corvis ST parameters using multivariate logistic regression. RESULTS There were 13 and 21 eyes developed hypotony maculopathy and CD, respectively. Male gender, greater preoperative GAT IOP, and greater highest concavity deflection Amplitude were significant predictors of the occurrence of hypotony maculopathy (P < .05). On the other hand, shorter AL, thinner CCT, greater preoperative GAT IOP and pseudophakia were significant predictors of the occurrence of CD (P < .05). CONCLUSIONS A careful attention should be paid to the occurrence of hypotony maculopathy with male gender and greater highest concavity deflection Amplitude despite higher preoperative GAT IOP. Different risk factors were identified; shorter AL, thinner CCT, greater preoperative GAT IOP, and pseudophakia.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The aim of this work is to compare the Corvis ST stress-strain index (SSI) and highest concavity (HC) parameters at baseline and 1 month after initiating monotherapy with prostaglandin analogues (PGs) in eyes showing visual field (VF) progression or stability. METHODS In this prospective, single-center, observational study, newly diagnosed and treatment-naïve OAG patients were examined at baseline and 1 month after beginning monotherapy with topical PGs monotherapy. Goldmann applanation tonometry pressure readings, Corneal Hysteresis (ORA-CH), and the Corvis ST measurements were obtained at both visits. VF progression (Humphrey) was evaluated based on data from 6 years of follow-up after the baseline visit. Stress-strain index (SSI) and HC parameters in progressing (P) and non-progressing (NP) eyes were the main outcome measures. RESULTS Sixty-three eyes were analyzed; mean age was 64.63 ± 11.26 years; 47 eyes were NP and 16 eyes were P according to the event analysis performed by the Humphrey device. There were no significant differences in IOP, CCT, or Corvis parameters between NP and P groups at baseline. Nevertheless, at 1 month, the SSI index was 1.60 ± 0.34 vs. 1.80 ± 0.34 (p = 0.003) in NP vs. P eyes, respectively. HC parameters were different between the groups at 1 month (p < 0.05) suggesting an increased scleral rigidity in the P group. There was no significant difference in IOP between groups at 1 month. CONCLUSIONS The Corvis ST provides a corneal rigidity index (SSI) that seems to be related to VF progression when measured 1 month after initiating PGs monotherapy. Differences in HC parameters, indicative of increased scleral stiffness, are also evident at 1 month on latanoprost in the P eyes.

Abstract
Heschl's gyrus (HG), which includes primary auditory cortex, is highly variable in its shape (i.e. gyrification patterns), between hemispheres and across individuals. Differences in HG shape have been observed in the context of phonetic learning skill and expertise, and of professional musicianship, among others. Two of the most common configurations of HG include single HG, where a single transverse temporal gyrus is present, and common stem duplications (CSD), where a sulcus intermedius (SI) arises from the lateral aspect of HG. Here we describe a new toolbox, called 'Multivariate Concavity Amplitude Index' (MCAI), which automatically assesses the shape of HG. MCAI works on the output of TASH, our first toolbox which automatically segments HG, and computes continuous indices of concavity, which arise when sulci are present, along the outer perimeter of an inflated representation of HG, in a directional manner. Thus, MCAI provides a multivariate measure of shape, which is reproducible and sensitive to small variations in shape. We applied MCAI to structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data of N=181 participants, including professional and amateur musicians and from non-musicians. Former studies have shown large variations in HG shape in the former groups. We validated MCAI by showing high correlations between the dominant (i.e. highest) lateral concavity values and continuous visual assessments of the degree of lateral gyrification of the first gyrus. As an application of MCAI, we also replicated previous visually obtained findings showing a higher likelihood of bilateral CSDs in musicians. MCAI opens a wide range of applications in evaluating HG shape in the context of individual differences, expertise, disorder and genetics.

Abstract
Purpose: The aim of the present study is to calculate Concavity Shape Index (CSI) in patients with POAG and exfoliative glaucoma (XFG) and correlate CSI with the severity of glaucoma, comparing to control and ocular hypertension (OHT) patients. Methods: This was a cross‑sectional study with 146 eyes/146 subjects: 37 healthy eyes, 23 eyes with OHT and 86 glaucoma eyes (70 with POAG, 16 with XFG). The severity of glaucoma was scored with the Glaucoma Staging System 2 (GSS2). Corvis ST® was used to calculate CSI. Results: Central corneal thickness (CCT) was significantly thinner in POAG (526 ± 40.0 µm) and XFG (520 ± 38.2 µm) than control group (553 ± 28.8 µm). CSI had no significant differences between the groups. XFG had a higher mean of GSS 2 (2.42 ± 1.38) than POAG (1.87 ± 1.55) and OHT (1.87 ± 1.55). OHT had a significantly less deformable cornea than: control (higher A1 length, lower A1 velocity, higher A2 velocity), POAG (higher A1 length, lower A1 velocity, lower deflection amplitude at highest concavity), and XFG group (lower A1 velocity, lower deflection amplitude at highest concavity), which was independent of age and CCT. No significant correlation was found between GSS 2 and CSI. Discussion: OHT patients had stiffer corneas (less deformed by the air puff) when compared to control, POAG or XFG patients. A less deformable cornea could potentially be related to a more resistant LC/peripapillary sclera. As such, this would result in a lesser optic nerve susceptibility to IOP damage.

Abstract
The aim of the current study is to identify possible new Ocular Response Analyzer (ORA) waveform parameters related to changes of retinal structure/deformation, as measured by the peripapillary retinal arteries angle (PRAA), using a generative deep learning method of variational autoencoder (VAE). Fifty-four eyes of 52 subjects were enrolled. The PRAA was calculated from fundus photographs and was used to train a VAE model. By analyzing the ORA waveform reconstructed (noise filtered) using VAE, a novel ORA waveform parameter (Monot1-2), was introduced, representing the change in monotonicity between the first and second applanation peak of the waveform. The variables mostly related to the PRAA were identified from a set of 41 variables including age, axial length (AL), keratometry, ORA corneal hysteresis, ORA corneal resistant factor, 35 well established ORA waveform parameters, and Monot1-2, using a model selection method based on the second-order bias-corrected Akaike information criterion. The optimal model for PRAA was the AL and six ORA waveform parameters, including Monot1-2. This optimal model was significantly better than the model without Monot1-2 (p = 0.0031, ANOVA). The current study suggested the value of a generative deep learning approach in discovering new useful parameters that may have clinical relevance.
