Abstract
Dopamine replacement therapy (DRT) of Parkinson's disease (PD) may trigger non-motor complications, some of which affect hedonic homeostatic regulation. Management of iatrogenic alterations in the affective state in PD is unsatisfactory, partly because of the limitations in the experimental models that are used in the preclinical investigation of the neurobiology and therapy of these alterations. In this connection, we recently employed a new experimental approach consisting in measuring the emission of 50-kHz ultrasonic vocalizations (USVs), a marker of positive affect, in hemiparkinsonian rats treated with drugs used in the DRT of PD. To further strengthen our approach, we here evaluated how the acute and repeated (× 5, on alternate days) administration of apomorphine (2 mg/kg, i.p.) or L-3,4-dihydroxyphenilalanine (L-DOPA, 12 mg/kg, i.p.) modified the immunoreactivity for Zif-268, a marker of neuronal activation, in the nucleus accumbens (NAc), caudate-putamen (CPu) and medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC), which are brain regions that regulate emotional states and drugs' affective properties. Acute and repeated treatment with either apomorphine or L-DOPA stimulated the emission of 50-kHz USVs in hemiparkinsonian rats, and this effect was paired with increased Zif-268 immunoreactivity in the NAc and CPu, but not mPFC. These findings indicate that subcortical and cortical regions may differently regulate the emission of 50-kHz USVs in hemiparkinsonian rats treated with dopaminergic drugs used in the DRT of PD. Moreover, they provide further evidence that measuring 50-kHz USV emissions in hemiparkinsonian rats may be a relevant approach to investigate at the preclinical level the affective properties of antiparkinsonian drugs.

Abstract
Addictions often develop in a social context, although the influence of social factors did not receive much attention in the neuroscience of addiction. Recent animal studies suggest that peer presence can reduce cocaine intake, an influence potentially mediated, among others, by the subthalamic nucleus (STN). However, there is to date no neurobiological study investigating this mediation in humans. This study investigated the impact of social context and drug cues on brain correlates of inhibitory control in individuals with and without cocaine use disorder (CUD) using functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI). Seventeen CUD participants and 17 healthy controls (HC) performed a novel fMRI "Social" Stop-Signal Task (SSST) in the presence or absence of an observer while being exposed to cocaine-related (vs. neutral) cues eliciting craving in drug users. The results showed that CUD participants, while slower at stopping with neutral cues, recovered control level stopping abilities with cocaine cues, while HC did not show any difference. During inhibition (Stop Correct vs Stop Incorrect), activity in the right STN, right inferior frontal gyrus (IFG), and bilateral orbitofrontal cortex (OFC) varied according to the type of cue. Notably, the presence of an observer reversed this effect in most areas for CUD participants. These findings highlight the impact of social context and drug cues on inhibitory control in CUD and the mediation of these effects by the right STN and bilateral OFC, emphasizing the importance of considering the social context in addiction research. They also comfort the STN as a potential addiction treatment target.

Abstract
Introduction Dopaminergic medications can trigger impulsive-compulsive behaviors (ICBs) in pre-disposed patients with Parkinson's disease (PD), but what this implies on a neurocognitive level is unclear. Previous findings highlighted potentially exacerbated incentive motivation (willingness to work for rewards) and choice impulsivity (preferring smaller, immediate rewards over larger, delayed rewards) in PD patients with ICBs (PD + ICBs). Methods To deeply understand this evidence, we studied 24 PD + ICBs and 28 PD patients without ICBs (PD-ICBs). First of all, patients underwent the assessment of impulsivity traits, mood, anxiety, and addiction condition. We further administered robust objective and subjective measures of specific aspects of motivation. Finally, we explored whether these processes might link to any heightened antisocial behavior (aggression and risky driving) in PD + ICBs. Results High levels of positive urgency trait characterized PD + ICBs. They choose to exert more effort for rewards under the conditions of low and medium reward probability and as reward magnitude increases. Findings on choice impulsivity show a great tendency to delay discounting in PD + ICBs, other than a high correlation between delay and probability discounting. In addition, we found what appears to be the first evidence of heightened reactive aggression in PD patients with ICBs. Exacerbated incentive motivation and delay discounting trended toward positively predicting reactive aggression in PD + ICBs. Discussion Our promising results suggest that there might be immense value in future large-scale studies adopting a transdiagnostic neurocognitive endophenotype approach to understanding and predicting the addictive and aggressive behaviors that can arise from dopaminergic medication in PD.

Abstract
An emerging body of literature suggests that long-term gut inflammation may be a silent driver of Parkinson’s disease (PD) pathogenesis. Importantly, specific nutritive patterns might improve gut health for PD risk reduction. Here, we review the current literature on the nutritive patterns and inflammatory markers as a predictor for early detection of PD. This knowledge might be used to foster the detection of early nutritive patterns and preclinical biomarkers to potentially alter PD development and progression.

Abstract
Parkinson's disease (PD) patients with impulse control disorders (ICD) frequently report hypersensitivity to rewards. However, a few studies have explored the effectiveness of modulation techniques on symptoms experienced by these patients. In this study, we assessed the effect of anodal tDCS over the DLPFC on reward responsiveness and valuation in PD patients with ICD. 43 participants (15 PD patients with ICD, 13 PD without ICD, and 15 healthy matched controls) were asked to perform a reward-craving test employing both explicit (self-ratings of liking and wanting) and implicit (heart rate and skin conductance response) measures, as well as two temporal discounting tasks with food and money rewards. Each participant performed the experimental tasks during active anodal tDCS of the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), anodal tDCS of the primary motor cortex (M1), and sham tDCS. Results showed increased wanting and a steeper temporal discounting of rewards in PD with ICD compared to the other groups. Moreover, we found that PD without ICD exhibit reduced liking for rewards. tDCS results capable to modulate the altered intensity of PD patients' liking, but not wanting and temporal discounting of rewards in PD patients with ICD. These findings confirm that alterations in reward responsiveness and valuation are characteristics of impulse control disorders in patients with PD but suggest that anodal tDCS over the left DLPFC is not capable to influence these processes. At the same time, they provide new insight into affective experience of rewards in PD.

Abstract
Social decision making is a highly complex process that involves diverse cognitive mechanisms, and it is driven by the precise processing of information from both the environment and from the internal state. On the one hand, successful social decisions require close monitoring of others' behavior, in order to track their intentions; this can guide not only decisions involving other people, but also one's own choices and preferences. On the other hand, internal states such as own reward or changes in hormonal and neurotransmitter states shape social decisions and their underlying neural function. Here, we review the current literature on modulators and determinants of human social decisions.

Abstract
Dopamine replacement therapy used in Parkinson's disease (PD) may induce alterations in the emotional state that can underlie the manifestation of iatrogenic psychiatric-like disturbances. The preclinical investigation of these disturbances is limited, also because few reliable paradigms are available to study the affective properties of dopaminomimetic drugs in parkinsonian animals. To provide a relevant experimental tool in this respect, we evaluated whether dopaminomimetic drugs modified the emission of 50-kHz ultrasonic vocalizations (USVs), a behavioral marker of positive affect, in rats bearing a unilateral lesion with 6-hydroxydopamine in the medial forebrain bundle. Apomorphine (2 or 4 mg/kg, i.p.), L-3,4-dihydroxyphenilalanine (L-DOPA, 6 or 12 mg/kg, i.p.), or pramipexole (2 or 4 mg/kg, i.p.) were administered in a test cage (× 5 administrations) on alternate days. Seven days after treatment discontinuation, rats were re-exposed to the test cage to measure conditioned calling behavior and thereafter received a drug challenge. Hemiparkinsonian rats treated with either apomorphine or L-DOPA, but not pramipexole, markedly vocalized during repeated treatment and after challenge, and showed conditioned calling behavior. Moreover, apomorphine, L-DOPA and pramipexole elicited different patterns of 50-kHz USV emissions and rotational behavior, indicating that calling behavior in hemiparkinsonian rats treated with dopaminomimetic drugs is not a byproduct of motor activation. Taken together, these results suggest that measuring 50-kHz USV emissions may be a relevant experimental tool for studying how dopaminomimetic drugs modify the affective state in parkinsonian rats, with possible implications for the preclinical investigation of iatrogenic psychiatric-like disturbances in PD.

Abstract
An increasing number of studies suggests that implicit attitudes toward food and body shape predict eating behaviour and characterize patients with eating disorders (EDs). However, literature has not been previously analysed, thus differences between patients with EDs and healthy controls and the level of automaticity of the processes involved in implicit attitudes are still matters of debate. The present systematic review aimed to synthetize current evidence from papers investigating implicit attitudes towards food and body in healthy and EDs populations. PubMed, EMBASE (Ovid), PsycINFO, Web of Science and Scopus were systematically screened and 183 studies using different indirect paradigms were included in the qualitative analysis. The majority of studies reported negative attitudes towards overweight/obese body images in healthy and EDs samples and weight bias as a diffuse stereotypical evaluation. Implicit food attitudes are consistently reported as valid predictors of eating behaviour. Few studies on the neurobiological correlates showed neurostimulation effects on implicit attitudes, but the automaticity at brain level of implicit evaluations remains an open area of research. In conclusion, implicit attitudes are relevant measures of eating behaviour in healthy and clinical settings, although evidence about their neural correlates is limited.
