Abstract
Tendon calcification is a common clinical condition that frequently occurs as a complication after tendon injury and surgery, or as an expression of fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva. This condition can be referred to by various names in clinical practice and literature, including tendon ossification, tendon mineralization, heterotopic ossification, and calcific tendonitis. The exact pathogenesis of tendon calcification remains uncertain, but current mainstream research suggests that calcification is mostly cell mediated. To further elucidate the pathogenesis of tendon calcification and to better simulate the overall process, selecting appropriate experimental animal models is important. Numerous animal models have been utilized in various clinical studies, each with its own set of advantages and limitations. In this review, we have discussed the advancements made in research on animal models of tendon calcification, with a focus on the selection of experimental animals, the sites of injury in these models, and the methods employed for modeling.

Abstract
Extraskeletal osteosarcoma (ESOS) is a rare malignant mesenchymal tumor that originates in the soft tissue. ESOS accounts for less than 1% of all soft tissue sarcomas and exhibits an aggressive behavior with a high propensity for local recurrence and distant metastasis. Despite advances in treatment, the prognosis for ESOS remains poor, with a five-year survival rate of less than 50% and 27% for metastatic patients. Ex vivo models derived from patient samples are critical tools for studying rare diseases with poor prognoses, such as ESOS, and identifying potential new treatment strategies. In this work, we established a novel ESOS ex vivo sarco-sphere model from a metastatic lesion to the dermis for research and functional testing purposes. The ex vivo cell model accurately recapitulated the native tumor, as evidenced by histomorphology and molecular profiles. Through a functional screening approach, we were able to identify novel individual anti-cancer drug sensitivities for different drugs such as romidepsin, miverbresib and to multiple kinase inhibitors. Overall, our new ESOS ex vivo cell model represents a valuable tool for investigating disease mechanisms and answering basic and translational research questions.

Abstract
Translocations involving FN1 gene have been described in several tumours, which share the presence of a cartilaginous matrix with or without calcifications and a good prognosis. They encompass: soft tissue chondroma, synovial chondromatosis, calcifying aponeurotic fibroma, phosphaturic mesenchymal tumour and a new spectrum of tumours: "the calcified chondroid mesenchymal neoplasms". We review all the clinical, histopathological and molecular data of these tumours and discuss the differential diagnoses.

Abstract
Acral soft tissue tumors are common neoplasms, a subset of which pose a diagnostic challenge. We report 10 cases of a previously unrecognized acral benign soft tissue tumor. These tumors arose on the fingers and toes and involved bone in half of cases. Histologically, the tumors were lobulated and displayed an abundant stroma made of variable fibrous, chondroid and myxoid material reminiscent of cartilaginous or myoepithelial differentiation. Tumor cells harbored small round to reniform nuclei with clear chromatin and inconspicuous nucleoli along with scant eosinophilic cytoplasm. The cells were mostly arranged haphazardly in the stroma but also in small clusters. No mitotic activity was detected. No specific feature was identified in recurrent cases. By immunohistochemistry, the cells consistently stained for CD34 (10/10), ERG (9/10), and SOX9 (7/10). Whole RNA sequencing identified a previously undescribed recurrent in frame THBS1-ADGRF5 gene fusion in all cases. The transcript was confirmed by RT-PCR and was not found in the control group of mimickers including soft tissue chondromas. We propose the name of Acral FibroChondroMyxoid Tumors for this new entity.

Abstract
MR imaging is nowadays regarded as the preferred imaging modality for evaluation of soft tissue lesions. As plain radiographs are often the first step in evaluation of musculoskeletal disorders, identification of subtle soft tissue signs may be helpful to select patients who need to be referred for subsequent MR imaging. Although not very sensitive, certain plain film findings, such as intralesional calcification or gas, may allow one to make to a more specific tissue diagnosis and may obviate the need for invasive diagnostic procedures and potential harmful treatment.

Abstract
An extraosseous or soft tissue chondroma is a rare, benign cartilaginous tumour characterised by the formation of mature hyaline cartilage. The majority of osseous chondromas are located within the medullary cavity of long bones. Soft tissue chondromas are extremely rare with only five cases affecting the bladder being reported in the literature. Soft tissue chondroma of the bladder is a rare cause of lower urinary tract symptoms and abdominopelvic pain. All reported cases of soft tissue chondromas of the bladder have occurred in women in their fifth to seventh decades of life. We describe the case of a 65-year-old woman diagnosed with a soft tissue chondroma of her bladder while being investigated for lower urinary tract symptoms.

Abstract
Extraskeletal osteosarcoma is a rare malignant tumor with histologic similarities to primary bone osteosarcoma. However, there are distinct differences in epidemiology, imaging features, biological characteristics, prognosis, and management compared with osteogenic osteosarcoma. Extraskeletal osteosarcoma is usually characterized as high-grade neoplasm with clinically aggressive behavior, poor prognosis, frequent recurrence/lymphogenic metastatsis, and resistence to chemotherapy. A noteworthy feature of extraskeletal osteosarcoma is the fact that almost all existing biological phenomena described in mesenchymal oncopathology (except primary-multiple lesions) are present in this tumor, namely: secondary malignancy, association with syndromes, partial spontaneous regression of the tumor, dedifferentiation, bone invasion, biphasic pathology. In this paper, we have discussed in detail the tumor morphology, histological subtypes, prognostic factors and differential diagnosis.

Abstract
Ossifying fibromyxoid tumor (OFMT) is a rare lesion that generally occurs in the soft tissues of proximal limbs. OFMT most often presents as a single swelling arising from the subcutaneous soft tissues or skeletal muscles of the extremities. Multifocal presentation is exceedingly rare. Complete surgical excision should be performed to prevent local recurrence.
Introduction Ossifying fibromyxoid tumor (OFMT) is a rare lesion that generally occurs in the soft tissues of proximal limbs, head or neck and presents as a slowly growing mass. Abdominal or trunk locations are extremely rare. Presentation of case We report a case of 50-year-old man who presented with a painless, slow growing epigastric mass for 5 years. Radiologic assessment revealed a well circumscribed median subcutaneous parietal mass lesion present in front of the xiphoid process suspicious of a calcified hydatid cyst. Diagnosis of OFMT was made on histopathological examination of the resected specimen. Discussion OFMT most often presents as a single swelling arising from the subcutaneous soft tissues or skeletal muscles of the extremities. Multifocal presentation is exceedingly rare. Radiologically, a peripheral shell of bone is seen in more than 50% cases. On MRI, myxofibrous stroma appears isointense to muscle on T1 and of intermediate to high signal intensity on T2. Surgical excision is the mainstay of treatment. Histologically, the tumor has a thick fibrous capsule with a complete or partial underlying layer of metaplastic woven or lamellar bone. Tumor is composed of uniform round, ovoid, or spindle-shaped cells arranged in nests and cords embedded in a variably myxoid and collagenous Alcian blue-positive stroma. On immunochemistry, the tumor cells are positive for S100 protein and desmin in 90% and 50% cases respectively. Conclusion OFMT is a rare soft tissue tumor with malignant potential often misdiagnosed as a benign lesion. Complete surgical excision should be performed to prevent local recurrence.

Abstract
Chondromas are benign tumors composed of mature hyaline cartilage (Bahnassy & Abdil-Khalik, 2009). Extraskeletal presentation of chondromas is extremely rare and mostly occurs in the soft tissues of the extremities, mainly the hands and feet (Bahnassy & Abdil-Khalik, 2009; Rapini et al, 2007). There are currently only 3 case reports in the literature of chondroma of the urinary bladder (Cho & Horvai, 2015; Reichard et al, 2014; Sloan & Rapoport, 1985). Here we present a case of urinary bladder chondroma with low proliferative potential managed by transurethral resection.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There are no data about the role of MMPs polymorphism in development of osteosarcoma. PATIENTS AND METHODS Two-hundred fifty-one patients with osteosarcoma and 251 healthy controls were included to investigate the association between the MMP2, 3, 9 polymorphisms and the risk of osteosarcoma. RESULTS Compared with the MMP2 SNP rs243865 homozygote CC, The heterozygous CT genotype was associated with significantly increased risk for osteosarcoma (OR = 1.86, 95% CI = 1.18-4.22, p = 0.014); the TT genotype was associated with increased risk for osteosarcoma (OR = 1.92, 95% CI = 1.21-3.52, p = 0.028). However, the genotype and allele frequencies of MMP3 rs3025058 and MMP9 rs3918242 polymorphisms were not significantly different. CONCLUSION MMP2 rs243865 genotype was associated with increased risk for development of osteosarcoma in Chinese Han population.
