Abstract
AIMS Impact of different post-space disinfectants (Saline, Sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) followed by ethylene-diamine-tetra-acetic acid (EDTA) and curcumin activated by microbubble emulsion (MBE) on the Vickers hardness (VH) of root canal dentin and extrusion bond strength (EBS) of Glass fiber post (GFP) and PEEK post. METHODS Ninety maxillary central incisors having fully formed roots were included. After the specimen's disinfection, root canal treatment was completed. Post space was prepared by removing gutta-percha using gates glidden drills. Teeth were then arbitrarily allocated into three groups based on the methods of disinfection regime used. Group 1: Saline, Group 2: NaOCl+ EDTA and Group 3: Curcumin activated by MBE (n = 30). Analysis of VH of radicular dentin was performed using a micro-Vickers tester on ten samples from each group. After post-space disinfection, twenty specimens from each group were further divided into two subgroups (n = 10) In group-1A 2A, and 3A, GFP was used. Whereas, prefabricated PEEK posts were used in 1B, 2B, and 3B subgroups. The PBS and failure modes were performed using a universal testing machine and stereomicroscope respectively. Data was analyzed using ANOVA and Tukey post hoc test to identify significant variations among groups concerning the MH and EBS of the different posts used (p = 0.05). RESULTS Group 2 (5.25 % NaOCl + 17 % EDTA) (0.15 ± 0.02 GPa) treated specimens presented lowest scores of VH. However, Group 1 (Saline) irrigated canals displayed the highest scores of surface hardness (0.25 ± 0.07 GPa). Additionally, a cervical third of 3A (CP activated by MBE + GFP) (11.22 ± 0.79 MPa) presented the highest scores of bond integrity. Whereas Group 1B (Saline + PEEK post) treated specimens presented the lowest scores of PBS (4.15 ± 0.15 MPa). CONCLUSION Curcumin activated by microbubble emulsion for disinfection of canal dentin demonstrated favorable VH. Similarly, glass fiber post-cemented in radicular walls disinfected with curcumin activated with MBE showed promising post-bond integrity to the canal dentin.

Abstract
To evaluate the effect of the photodynamic therapy (PDT) using with different photosensitizers on the bond strength of BioRoot RCS (BR) to radicular dentin by comparing with AH Plus (AH). The shaped root canals of 80 human mandibular premolars were divided into four groups based on the final disinfection protocol: NaOCl/EDTA, PDT with methylene Blue (MB), PDT with curcumin (CUR) and PDT with toluidine blue O (TBO) (n = 20). Each group was randomly divided into two subgroups (n = 10), according to the endodontic sealer used for obturation (n = 10). The test of push-out bond strength (PBS) was performed using an universal test machine. The data were analysed using ANOVA, Tukey post-hoc, and independent sample t-test (α = 0.05). MB-BR group showed the highest PBS at the cervical level (p < 0.05). The selection of the photosensitizer in PDT influenced adhesion of root canal sealers to radicular dentin.

Abstract
AIM The chief aim of the study was to determine/equate the surface roughness (SRa) and shear bond strength (BS) of pretreated PEEK discs with contemporary air abrasion techniques, photodynamic (PD) therapy by curcumin photosensitizer (PS) and conventional diamond grit straight fissure bur adhered to the composite resin discs. MATERIAL AND METHOD Two hundred discs of PEEK were prepared of 6 mm × 2 mm × 10 mm dimension. The discs were randomly divided into five groups (n = 40) for treatment, Group I: treatment with deionized distilled water (control group); Group II: PD therapy using curcumin PS; Group III: discs treated and abraded with air-borne particles (ABP) silica (30 μm particle size) modified alumina (Al); Group IV: ABP of alumina (110 μm particle size); and Group V: The PEEK were finished with 600-μm grit size straight diamond cutting bur installed in high speed hand-piece. The surface profilometer was used to evaluate the values of surface roughness (SRa) of pretreated PEEK discs. The discs were luted and bonded to discs of composite resin. The bonded PEEK samples were placed in Universal testing machine to evaluate shear BS. The type of BS failure for PEEK discs pre-treated with five regimes respectively was evaluated under stereo-microscope. The data was statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA and the comparisons between mean values of shear BS were evaluated by Tukey's test (ρ≤0.05). RESULTS The PEEK samples pre-treated with diamond cutting straight fissure burs displayed statistically significant highest value of SRa values (3.258± 0.785 µm). Similarly, the shear BS was observed to be higher for the PEEK discs pre-treated with straight fissure bur (22.37±0.78 MPa). A comparable difference but not statistically significant difference was observed between PEEK discs pre-treated by curcumin PS and ABP-silica modified alumina (ρ ≥ 0.05). CONCLUSION PEEK discs pre-treated with diamond grit straight fissure bur displayed highest values of SRa and shear BS. It was trailed by ABP-Al pre-treated discs; whereas the SRa and shear BS values for the discs pre-treated with ABP-silica modified Al and curcumin PS did not show competitive difference.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the outcome of post space disinfection using Er,Cr:YSGG laser (ECYL), riboflavin photosensitizer (RFP), and photon-induced photoacoustic streaming (PIPS) along with ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid (EDTA) as final irrigant on the bond values of glass fiber post (GFP) to the canal wall. Materials and methods: Forty human mandibular premolars were subjected to root canal treatment after decoronation till the cementoenamel junction. Post space was prepared using a Gates-Glidden drill leaving 4 mm of gutta perch at the apical third of the root section. Random allocation of samples was performed into four groups based on the post space disinfection (n = 10 each): Group 1: 1% RFP and 17% EDTA, group 2: 5.25% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) and 17% EDTA (control), group 3: PIPS and 17% EDTA, and group 4: ECYL and 17% EDTA. GFP was luted using Rely X Unicem. A universal testing machine and stereomicroscope were used to assess the push-out bond strength (PBS) and failure mode, respectively. Analysis of variance determined the PBS amid different experimental groups at three root levels. Multiple group comparison using means of tested groups was identified using post hoc Tukey. Results: The coronal third of group 2 (5.25% NaOCl +17% EDTA) demonstrated the highest PBS (8.83 ± 0.11 MPa). However, the lowest bond integrity (4.15 ± 0.52 MPa) was displayed in an apical third of group 1 (RFP +17% EDTA). The intergroup comparison revealed that 5.25% NaOCl +17% EDTA at all three levels demonstrated comparable outcomes of PBS with PIPS +17% EDTA and ECYL +17% EDTA specimens (p > 0.05). However, riboflavin +17% EDTA demonstrated the lowest bond strength (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Er,Cr: YSGG and PIPS in combination with 17% EDTA demonstrated comparable outcomes of bond score with those of conventional gold standard irrigation regime 5.25% NaOCl.

Abstract
AIMS Assessment of the efficacy of final root canal irrigants Sapindus mukorossi (SM), Potassium titanyl phosphate laser (KTPL), and Fotoenticine (FTC) on the push-out bond strength (PBS) of zirconia post. MATERIALS AND METHODS The root canal procedure was initiated using the 10 K file and the working length was determined on single-rooted human premolar teeth after decoration. The canals were then enlarged using ProTaper universal system and filled using single cone gutta-percha (GP) and AH Plus resin sealer. Post space was prepared by removing 10mm of GP from the canal. All the teeth were then allocated into four groups based on the final irrigating regime used (n=10) Group 1: 5.25% NaOCl+17% EDTA, Group 2: 5.25% NaOCl + KTPL, Group 3: 5.25% NaOCl + FTC and Group 4: 5.25% NaOCl+ SM. Zirconia posts were cemented in the canal space. The specimens were sectioned and implanted in auto-polymerizing acrylic resin. A universal testing machine and stereomicroscope at 40x magnification were used for PBS and failure mode analysis. ANOVA and Tukey post hoc test were used to make group comparisons(p=0.05). RESULTS Group 4 (5.25% NaOCl+ SM) coronal section displayed the highest PBS (9.29±0.24 MPa). However, group 3 (5.25% NaOCl+ FTC) apical third (4.08±0.14 MPa) showed the lowest bond values. Group 2 (5.25% NaOCl+ KTP laser) and Group 3 at all three-thirds unveiled no significant difference in PBS(p>0.05). However, Group 1 (5.25% NaOCl+17%EDTA) and Group 4 displayed comparable outcomes of bond strength(p>0.05) CONCLUSION: Sapindus mukorossi has the ability to be used as a final root canal irrigant alternative to EDTA. However, future studies are still required to conclude the outcomes of existing research.

Abstract
AIMS To evaluate the effect of contemporary root canal irrigants i.e., Cold atmospheric argon plasma (CAAP), Chlorine p6 (Clp6), and chitosan on the push-out bond strength (PBS) of glass fiber post (GFP) and marten hardness (MH) of root canal dentin compared to NaOCl+EDTA. MATERIALS AND METHODS The anatomic crown of sixty human mandibular premolars was removed by transversal section till cement-enamel junction (CEJ). Root canals were prepared and canals were dried and obturated using gutta-percha points and AH plus sealer. Post space was prepared and specimens were arbitrarily divided into four groups based on the post-space irrigation. (n=15) Group 1: 5.25% NaOCl + 17% EDTA, Group 2: CAAP + 17% EDTA, Group 3: Chitosan + 17% EDTA and Group 4: Clp6 + 17% EDTA. For MH evaluation five samples from each disinfected group were taken and MH was assessed with the help of an ultra microhardness tester. GFP was cemented using self-etch dual cure cement on the remaining 10 samples from each group. Samples were vertically planted in acrylic resin blocks 1mm thick slices were subjected to push-out testing and failure mode analysis using a universal testing machine and Stereomicroscope. ANOVA and Tukey multiple comparison tests were used to compare the means of bond integrity attained (p=0.05). RESULTS The maximum values of PBS and MH were displayed in group 1 (5.25% NaOCl + 17% EDTA) specimens. However, group 3 exhibited the minimum values of bond strength and MH scores. Intergroup comparison analysis revealed that group 2, group 3, and group 4 displayed comparable outcomes of PBS and MH (p > 0.05). The cervical and middle third of group 1 specimens displayed a cohesive type of failure. However, the apical section of group 1 and other tested groups exhibited the adhesive type of failure. CONCLUSION Canal irrigation with 5.25% NaOCl and 17% EDTA appears to be better in terms of improving the bond integrity of fiber posts with no compromise in MH of the dentin as compared to the contemporary irrigant used.

Abstract
AIMS To estimate the effect of contemporary final root canal irrigants (Ozonated water (OW), Chitosan, and Fotoenticine (FTC) on the bond scores of glass fiber post (GFP) and Martens hardness (MH) of root dentin. MATERIALS AND METHODS Sixty extracted human premolars having a single straight canal that ends in a closed apex were included. Specimens were de-crowned till the cementoenamel junction preserving 12 mm of root length and were mounted vertically. Canal therapy was performed using a crown-down approach. Obturation was performed followed by post-space preparation. Samples were allocated into 4 groups based on chemical irrigations and photosensitizers used(n = 15). Group 1 (5.25% NaOCl + 17% EDTA), group 2 (5.25% NaOCl + FTC), group 3 (5.25% NaOCl + Chitosan), group 4 (5.25% NaOCl + OW). The ultra microhardness tester was put under a load of 5 mN at a speed of 1.5 mN/s for 1 s to assess the MH. The fiber post was luted with dual-cure cement and slices of 1 mm were prepared from each third of the tooth. PBS and failure mode analysis were performed using a universal testing machine (UTM) and stereomicroscope respectively. ANOVA and Tukey multiple comparisons t-tests for assessment of PBS and MH p > 0.05 RESULTS: Group 1 (5.25% NaOCl + 17% EDTA) exhibited the highest MH (0.19 ± 0.04 GPa). Whereas, group 2 (5.25% NaOCl + FTC) displayed the lowest MH (0.011 ± 0.14 GPa). The highest PBS was exhibited by the coronal third of group 1 (5.25% NaOCl + 17% EDTA) (7.11 ± 0.81 MPa). The apical section of group 3 specimens (5.25% NaOCl + Chitosan) (2.33 ± 0.26 MPa) unveiled the lowest PBS. Intergroup comparison analysis revealed that group 2 and group 3 displayed comparable outcomes of PBS. Group 1 and Group 4 also demonstrated no significant difference in the bond scores in all three sections. CONCLUSION OW as a final irrigant can be used as an alternative to EDTA as it improves the bond strength with minimum impact on marten hardness.

Abstract
AIMS Evaluation of antimicrobial efficacy of contemporary disinfection Malachite green (MG), Terminalia chebula (T. chebula), and Indocyanine green (ICG)) against E. faecalis and their effect on push-out bond strength (PBS) of glass fiber post (GFP) bonded to root dentin in comparison to conventional irrigation used (Sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) + Ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (17% EDTA). MATERIALS AND METHODS Root canal treatment was initiated on sixty human single-rooted premolars and working length was established. The canals were enlarged using ProTaper universal system till F3. The prepared canals were obturated with Gutta-percha (GP) and AH Plus sealer followed by post-space preparation. Twenty canals contained a standard strain of E. faecalis (n=5 in each group) cultured overnight at 37 °C in BHI broth. All the samples were randomly allocated into four groups based on post-space irrigation. (n = 10) Group 1: 5.25% NaOCl+17% EDTA (Control), Group 2: 5.25% NaOCl + ICG, Group 3: 5.25% NaOCl + MG and Group 4: 5.25% NaOCl + T. chebula. Survival rates of E. faecalis were evaluated on the twenty specimens. GFP was placed on the remaining samples using self-etch dual-cure pastes and sectioning was performed in 1 mm thick slices. PBS and failure mode were analyzed using a universal testing machine and stereomicroscope. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey multiple comparison t-tests were used for data analysis. (p = 0.05). RESULTS 5.25% NaOCl+17% EDTA demonstrated (0.11±0.01 CFU/mL) the lowest survival rate of E. faecalis. However, Group 2 (5.25% NaOCl + ICG) exhibited the highest survival rate (0.52 ± 0.10). Furthermore, the coronal third of group 4 (5.25% NaOCl + T. chebula) (8.71±0.25 MPa) specimens demonstrated the highest PBS of GFP. However, an apical section of group 2 samples (5.25% NaOCl + ICG) (1.21±0.71 MPa) displayed the lowest outcome of bond integrity. CONCLUSION Terminalia chebula when used as a final canal disinfectant seems to be promising in improving canal sterility and the bond strength of GFP to the root dentin.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This systematic review aimed to investigate the effectiveness of CUR-mediated PDT (Curcumin mediated PDT) as an adjunct to conventional chemo-mechanical debridement and/or standard PDT of the RC system with endodontic infections. METHODS The focused research question was: "Whether the application Curcumin mediated PDT as an adjunct is more effective than the traditional chemo-mechanical debridement and/or standard PDT of the RC system alone for improving antibacterial and/or mechanical features among subjects undergoing RCT?". An electronic literature search was performed in Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science. In vitro reports utilizing Curcumin mediated PDT as an adjunct to conventional chemo-mechanical debridement considering permanent dentition assessing the antibacterial and/or mechanical effect were included. RESULTS Eighteen articles were included in the review, out of which 13 studies assessed the antibacterial activity, while 5 evaluated the mechanical properties. Most of the studies concluded that Curcumin mediated PDT had a significant antibacterial activity than the conventional chemo-mechanical debridement and/or standard PDT. Four of the five studies suggested that Curcumin mediated PDT had no impact on the push-out bond strength of root dentin. Furthermore, the significant heterogeneity in the data from the included studies did not permit the author to carry out a meta-analysis. CONCLUSION There is potential for application of Curcumin mediated PDT as an adjunct to the conventional chemo-mechanical debridement and/or standard PDT in reducing the bacterial load, however, Curcumin mediated PDT has minimal effect on enhancing the pushout bond strength of fiber posts to radicular dentin. Moreover, clinical studies are required to provide a more conclusive opinion on the efficacy of Curcumin mediated PDT for RCT procedures.

Abstract
AIM To assess and compare push-out bond strength (PBS) when canal disinfected with 5.25% NaOCl, 400 nm femtosecond laser, and natural PS activated by PDT (CP and Zn (II) Ce6 methyl ester) on bond efficacy of radicular dentin bonded to glass fiber post. MATERIAL AND METHODS A sum of 40 non-traumatic, cautiously extracted with closed apex human mandibular premolars were collected and decoronated up to the cement-o-enamel junction. Canals of all specimens were cleaned and shaped using a Protaper universal NiTi system via a crown-down approach, then finally dried out and obturated with gutta-percha. Post alignment space was formed with peso reamers and sanitized. Then samples were randomly allocated into four groups as per the radicular dentin designated disinfection protocols. Group 1 disinfected with curcumin photosensitizer + EDTA, group 2: 5.25% NaOCl and EDTA, group 3: Zn (II) Ce6 methyl ester and EDTA and group 4 sanitized with 400 nm fs-laser + EDTA. GFP was cemented into the radicular canal space and specimens were placed in a thermocycler. Segmentation of the root was done at three levels (coronal, middle, and apical) and positioned in a universal testing machine for PBS analysis. Failure mode analysis was performed using a stereomicroscope and statistical analysis was executed by one-way ANOVA and Tukey multiple comparison tests at a statistically significant level of p < 0.05. RESULTS The highest PBS was revealed by group 2 canal disinfected with 5.25% NaOCl +17% EDTA (control) at coronal (9.49 ± 1.42 MPa) and middle (7.545 ± 0.15 MPa) root levels. Whereas, the lowest PBS was displayed by group 3: Zn (II) Ce6 methyl ester +17% EDTA at coronal (6.31 ± 0.54 MPa) middle (4.85 ± 0.11 MPa) root levels respectively. Intergroup comparison presented that radicular dentin disinfected with 400 nm femtosecond laser + 17% EDTA substantiated comparable PBS result to group 2 (control) at all three root levels (p > 0.05). Likewise, root surface disinfection with Curcumin activated by PDT+17% EDTA unveiled no statistically significant result for specimens disinfected with Zn(II) Ce6 methyl ester +17% EDTA(p > 0.05). Furthermore, apical root segments in all groups showed a substantial decrease in PBS value and were comparable (p > 0.05). CONCLUSION The bond efficacy of glass fiber post to radicular dentin disinfected with 400 nm femtosecond laser has the potential to be used as an alternative to conventional sodium hypochlorite.

Abstract
AIM The present study aimed to assess the bond integrity of curcumin photosensitizer (CPS) Photodynamic therapy (PDT) on fiber post disinfection bonded to radicular dentin in comparison to the conventional fiber post sterilant used. MATERIALS AND METHODS Fifty human permanent single-rooted premolars were utilized with the crown part sectioned using up to the cementoenamel junction. Root canal preparation was performed followed by canal obturation with gutta-percha (GP) and resin-based sealer. The post space was prepared using peso reamers leaving 4 mm at the apical part of the post space. Fifty glass fiber posts (GFP) were divided into five groups based on the surface disinfectant (n = 10). group 1: Autoclave sterilization (AS) group 2: chlorhexidine digluconate (CHX dig), group 3: CPS solution, group 4: 35% phosphoric acid (PA) gel, and group 5: No disinfection. Cementation was performed using dual-cure self-etch resin cement. Each tooth was sectioned and placed on the universal testing machine. Failure mode was analyzed using a stereomicroscope at 40x magnification. Statistical analysis was performed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey multiple comparison tests. (p = 0.05). RESULTS Intragroup comparison analysis demonstrated that group 2 in which 2% CHX dig was used as a post-surface disinfectant revealed the highest bond integrity at all three levels. Group 5 where no disinfectant was used to decontaminate the post surface exhibited the lowest bond values. In all the investigated groups, PBS values showed a downward trend from coronal to the apical third of the post space. Group 1 in which AS was used to sterilize the fiber post and group 3 in which CPS was smeared to decontaminate the GFPs surface-displayed comparable outcomes of PBS to group 5 specimens at all three levels. (p > 0.05). CONCLUSION CHX dig and PA post-surface disinfection displayed a positive impact on bond strength with the radicular dentin. However, CPS and AS do not reveal any effect on the PBS when used for post-decontamination.

Abstract
AIM To assess and equate the efficacy of different disinfection protocols autoclave, chlorhexidine (CHX), PDT utilizing Rose Bengal (RB), chitosan, and Er, Yag laser and their effect on fracture strength of PMMA denture-based polymer (DBP) colonized with C. Albicans, S. aureus, S.mutans, and E.coli. MATERIAL AND METHODS A total of 50 (n = 10) PMMA DBP were manufactured and adulterated with the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC) of diverse microbial colonies inhabited by C. Albicans, S. aureus, S.mutans, and E.coli. The specimens were subjected to different denture disinfection approaches by randomly distributing in into five groups i.e., Er, Yag laser, RB, autoclave, CHX, and Chitosan, respectively for appraising antimicrobial effectiveness. PMMA fracture load was also assessed and statistical analysis was performed for CFU/mL (log10) of exposed C. Albicans, S. aureus, S.mutans, and E.coli by one-way ANOVA and Tukey's multiple comparison test at a significance level of p < 0.05. RESULTS Intergroup comparison disclosed that denture disinfection with Er, Yag laser, autoclave, Chitosan, and CHX (control) validated comparable antimicrobial efficacy to denture against all inspected CFU/mL (log10) (p>0.05). The intragroup comparison revealed that DBP sanitization with Er, Yag laser, autoclave, Chitosan, RB, and CHX substantiated equivalent effective antimicrobial efficacy in plummeting CFU/mL (log10) of S. mutans and E. coli (p>0.05) but in consideration to S.aureus and C.albicans, all groups resulted in declining their count except 5µm RB activated by PDT(p < 0.05). No significant difference was perceived in fracture load of PMMA denture base among Er, Yag laser, RB, chitosan, and CHX (control) (p > 0.05) except autoclave decontamination procedure that indicated the least fracture strength of DBP when disinfected (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION Er, Yag laser, and Chitosan activated by PDT have the potential to be used as an alternative to chlorhexidine for disinfecting Polymethyl methacrylate denture base as they demonstrated the highest antimicrobial efficacy against E. coli, C. Albicans, S aureus, and S. mutans with optimal fracture load.

Abstract
AIM To assess the impact of adjunctive final root canal disinfection regime curcumin photosensitizer (CP) activated by Photodynamic therapy (PDT), Er, Cr: YSGG laser (ECL), and Potassium titanyl Phosphate (KTP) laser on the bond integrity of two endodontic Bioceramic (BC) sealers. MATERIALS AND METHOD Decoration of eighty human single-rooted teeth was performed up to a cementoenamel junction. After instrumentation, all samples were irrigated with 2.25% NaOCl solution followed by 17% EDTA. The specimens were divided arbitrarily into 8 groups (n = 10) based on the adjunctive final irrigation method used. Group 1 and 5 (Control): No adjunctive regime, cleaned using 2.25% NaOCl + 17% EDTA, group 2 and group 6: CP activated by PDT, Group 3 and Group 7 using ECL, Group 4 and Group 8: KTP laser. Following disinfection samples in groups 1, 2, 3, and 4 were obturated using Sankin apatite root canal sealer (SARS). Specimens in groups 5, 6, 7, and 8 were obturated using Pro-root endo sealer (PRES). Sectioning of samples was performed. The sectioned specimens were subjected to a compressive loading exerted via a steel plunger moving at a 0.5 mm/min crosshead speed till debonding. Means and standard deviations (SD) of EBS of BC sealer with the root canal dentin were assessed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Post Hoc Tukey multiple comparison tests. The level of significance was measured at p = 0.05. RESULTS The coronal section of samples in group 5 (Na-E-PRES) exhibited the highest bond value. The lowest PBS was displayed by the middle third of specimens in group 6. Group 1 (Na-E-SARS), group 3 (Na-E-ECL-SARS), group 5 (Na-E-PRES), and group 7 (Na-E-ECL-PRES) exhibited comparable bond values (p>0.05). Whereas, group 2 (Na-E-PDT-SARS) and group 4 (Na-E-PTPL-SARS), group 6 (Na-E-PDT-PRES), and group 8 (Na-E-PTPL-PRES) were found to be comparable (p>0.05). CONCLUSION Adjunctive use of Er, Cr: YSGG laser displayed better extrusion bond strength with BC root canal sealer compared to CP activated by PDT and KTP laser. Bond strength is influenced by the type of irrigation.

Abstract
AIM The present study aimed to assess the effect of PDT, herbal and chemical disinfectants on the dental pathogen adherence to soft denture liner colonized with E. coli, C. Albicans, S.aureus, and S. mutans. MATERIAL AND METHODS A total of 20 samples of soft-lined removable acrylic complete dentures were fabricated and subjected to the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC) for the inoculation of E.coli, C.albicans, S.mutans and S.aureus in an in-vitro setup. The samples were then randomly divided into four groups and immersed in group 1: 5 µm of Rose Bengal (RB), group 2: Neem extract, group 3: Tea tree oil (TTO), and group 4: 0.12% CHX solutions respectively. Statistical analysis was accomplished by the SPSS 10 statistical software for Windows at a significance level p< 0.05. Two-way ANOVA and Tukey's multiple comparison test were used to analyze the data and compare the means and standard deviation values of CFU/mL (log10) for exposed E. coli, C. albicans, S aureus, and S. mutans. RESULTS Intragroup comparison indicated E.coli and C.albicans did not unveil a decrease in reduction CFU/mL (log10) when SDL irradiated with RB 5 µm. Whereas, CFU/mL (log10) values of S.aureus; 2.62±0.68 CFU/mL and S.mutans: 3.41±0.13 CFU/mL plunged significantly (p<0.05). Likewise, S. aureus and S. mutans CFU/mL (log10) strain values display reduction when treated with all four disinfectants while the count of C.albicans unveiled a significant plunge with CHX, TTO and neem extract except RB (p<0.05) CONCLUSION: 0.12% CHX and TTO have enhanced antimicrobial efficacy in reducing adhered bacterial colonies of E.coli, C.albicans, S.aureus, and S.mutans (CFU)/mL on a denture soft liner.

Abstract
AIM The present study aimed to appraise the effect of Diode laser (DL), riboflavin, and curcumin on the bond strength of adhesive restorative material and the effects of pretreatment on microleakage scores. MATERIAL AND METHODS Ninety caries-free human permanent premolars were obtained and disinfected. All specimens were mounted till CEJ. To provide standardization, a 2 × 2 mm flat non-carious cervical lesion (NCCL) dentin surface was exposed. This was followed by dentin surface roughening/cervical groove preparation with a round bur. After tooth surface preparation, ninety specimens were divided arbitrarily into three groups. Group 1: NCCL exposed to DL; group 2: NCCL pretreated with riboflavin photosensitizer (RFP) and group 3 pretreated with curcumin photosensitizer (CP). All the three groups were further divided into two subgroups A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2 based on the restorative material used (n=15). Subgroup A1, B1, and C1 were restored with composite resin (CR). Subgroup A2, B2, and C2 were restored with RMGIC. Ten samples from each subgroup were evaluated for shear bond strength (SBS) testing under a universal testing machine (UTM). Five from each subgroup were evaluated for microleakage assessment. Bond strength and microleakage analysis were performed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) with a Post-hoc test (Tukey's post hoc test) at a significance level (p=0.05). RESULTS The group A1, DL-CR shows the highest SBS (16.41± 0.4 MPa). However, CP-RMGIC groups demonstrated the lowest bond integrity. RFP-CR and the DL-CR group displayed comparable outcomes of SBS (p>0.05). The highest microleakage was observed with CP-RMGIC. The least microleakage was displayed by DL-CR. CONCLUSION Noncarious cervical lesions pretreated with diode laser and riboflavin photosensitizer showed better shear bond strength and reduced microleakage when bonded to composite resin than non-carious cervical lesions pretreated with curcumin.

Abstract
AIM The present study was designed to estimate the disinfection and surface roughness (Ra) of colonized (E. coli, C. albicans, S.aureus, and S. mutans) PEEK implant abutment disinfected with PDT, chemical, and herbal agents. MATERIAL AND METHODS The American Type Culture Collection (ATCC) inoculated E.coli, C.albicans, S.mutans, and S.aureus in an in-vitro scenario using 60 PEEK implant abutment samples provided by the manufacturer. Following that, the samples were distributed in four disinfection methods categories - group 1: 5mM Rose Bengal PS (RB), group 2: ultrasonic disinfection (UD), group 3: 2% glutaraldehyde (GaH), and group 4: tea tree oil (TTO). To scrutinize the data and compare the means and standard deviations of CFU/mL (log10) for exposed E. coli, Candida albicans, S.aureus, and S.mutans, a two-way ANOVA and Tukey's multiple comparison test were performed. RESULTS Specimens treated with 2% GaH, UD, and TTO validated a significant reduction in E. coli, C. albicans, S aureus, and S. mutans CFU/mL (log10) colonies. Intragroup assessment designated that there is no reduction in CFU/mL (log10) of E.coli and C.albicans when PEEK implant abutment specimens are irradiated with 5Mm RB. A decline is seen in values of S. aureus, and S. mutans microbial strains on treatment with all four cleansers while the computation of C.albicans and E.coli colonies unveiled significant reduction with GaH, UD, and TTO except RB (p<0.05). The results of Ra showed that PEEK fabricated implant abutment specimens, when treated with UD (3.472±0.561μm), displayed a significantly higher Ra value as compared to other analyzed cleansing methods. CONCLUSION . Disinfection with 2% glutaraldehyde and Tea tree oil showed maximum antimicrobial efficacy and lower Ra values for PEEK implant abutments colonized with bacterial strains of E.coli, C.albicans, S.aureus, and S.mutans.

Abstract
AIM To evaluate and compare the influence of contemporary surface treatments of air abrasions, sulfuric acid, and Photodynamic therapy (PDT) on the adhesive bonding and surface roughness of Poly-ether-ether-ketone (PEEK) bonded to resin composite. MATERIAL AND METHODS One hundred and fifty PEEK (disc-shaped) specimens of 10 mm diameter and 2mm thickness were prepared. Specimens were subjected to the following surface treatments, Control (no treatment), PDT, air abrasion using Alumina particles (110 μm) (AA-AP), Sulfuric acid (SA), and air abrasion using diamond particles (10-20 μm) AA-DP. Surface roughness (Ra) of treated samples were evaluated using surface profilometer. Universal testing machine was used to evaluate shear bond strength after composite resin build-up. Stereomicroscope was utilized for failure analysis of de-bonded samples of all five groups. Statistical analysis was performed utilizing one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) to measure means and standard deviations of SBS among studied groups and the means of SBS were paralleled by Tukey multiple comparison tests (p>0.05). RESULTS The highest SBS was observed by 98% SA (19.25 ± 0.68 MPa). While specimen treated with PDT (11.69 ± 0.12 MPa) showed the lowest SBS. PEEK surface, treated with PDT and AA-DP demonstrated comparable SBS (p>0.05). PEEK when pretreated with 98% SA (2.658 ± 0.658μm) exhibited a significantly higher Ra value as compared to other surface-treated groups (p< 0.05). CONCLUSION PEEK surface treated with SA showed the highest SBS and surface roughness compared to other groups. Surface roughness of PEEK treated with PDT, AA-AP, and AA-DP demonstrated no difference in Ra. PEEK surface treatment technique should be further investigated to develop reliable adhesive resin bonding.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) and laser-activated irrigation (LAI) are adjunctive therapies developed to enhance the effectiveness of root canal disinfection. Sealer penetration into dentinal tubules is significant for preventing re-infection, and the sealer's penetration ability is affected by the chemo-mechanical preparation of the root canal. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of aPDT and LAI on dentinal tubule penetration of MTA-based root canal sealer. METHODS Forty single-rooted mandibular premolars were divided into four groups (n = 10): control, methylene blue 50 mg/L (MB50), curcumin 500 mg/L (C500), and Er,Cr:YSGG and sodium hypochlorite (LAI). The smear removal efficiency of the groups on intraradicular dentin was evaluated with a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) was performed to determine the depth of penetration of MTA Fillapex into dentinal tubules. Data were analyzed statistically. RESULTS The maximum penetration depth of the C500 group was significantly higher than that of the other groups in all three levels of root sections (p<0.05). Regarding mean penetration depth, the highest values were obtained from the C500 group. However, there was no statistically significant difference between the C500 and MB50 groups in the middle and coronal thirds of the root (p>0.05). The LAI group showed the lowest penetrated area percentage in the middle and coronal third of the root (p<0.05). The C500 and LAI groups were more effective in removing the smear layer than the control and MB50 groups. CONCLUSION aPDT could enhance the penetration of MTA-based root canal sealer into dentin tubules.

Abstract
AIM To evaluate the shear bond strength (SBS) of caries effected dentin (CAD) bonded to resin-modified glass ionomer cement (RMGIC) after being disinfected with different methods their effect on microleakage scores. MATERIAL AND METHODS Based on criteria of ICDAS seventy-five teeth were selected and disinfected. All samples were grounded and a cavity prepared followed by random allocation of samples into different disinfection groups i.e., methylene blue photosensitizer (MBP), Silver diamine fluoride (SDF), Ozone (O3); curcumin photosensitizer (CP) and chlorhexidine (CHX) (n = 15). All samples were restored with resin modified glass ionomer (RMGIC) incrementally. Ten specimens from each group were placed in universal testing machine (UTM) to calculate bond failure and failure type. Five samples from each group were evaluated for microleakage scores. SBS and microleakage scores was examined using analysis of variance (ANOVA) with a Post-hoc test. For all tests p-value, less than 0.5 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS The highest SBS was observed in CAD disinfected with CP bonded to RMGIC (16.42 ± 1.10 MPa). Similarly, the lowest bond values were demonstrated by CAD disinfected with MBP (9.21 ± 0.22 MPa) bonded to RMGIC respectively. CAD disinfected with CHX (Control) bonded to RMGIC demonstrated the lowest microleakage scores and showed a significant difference compared to other experimental groups (p< 0.05). CONCLUSION Curcumin along with O3 has the potential to be used as a disinfectant in CAD as it improves SBS to RMGIC. CHX demonstrates low microleakage scores with decrease of bond integrity.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to compare the push-out bond strength of fiber posts by using two different resin cement after the treatments of post space with photodynamic therapy, gaseous ozone and conventional disinfection solution. METHODS The root canal treatments of one hundred maxillary incisors were performed. The roots were randomly distributed into 5 groups (n = 20). NaOCl of 2.5% + EDTA of 17% in group 1, CHX of 2% in group 2, toluidine blue + diode laser as the photodynamic therapy (PDT) in group 3 and ozone in group 4 were applied to the post spaces. Group 5 was washed with distilled water as control group. Each group was divided into two subgroups according to the adhesive types and the posts were bonded by using RelyX and LinkForce. The bond strength was calculated using the push-out test method. Resin tag formations were photographed with SEM. The push-out bond strength was analyzed by ANOVA and Tukey tests (p = .05). RESULTS The PDT group, which showed the highest PBS among the groups bonded with LinkForce at all levels, was significantly higher than Ozone and DW groups (p<.05). NaOCl and ozone treatments provided the highest PBS among the groups bonded with RelyX for all levels and this difference was significant according to the DW group (p < .05). CONCLUSION Post space treatments improved the bond strength of the fiber post in both types of resin cement.

Abstract
AIM To assess the efficacy of photosensitizers (CP, riboflavin) and gaseous ozone in comparison to the conventional radicular dentin disinfectant (NaOCl) on push-out bond strength (PBS) of PFRC post cemented to radicular dentin MATERIAL AND METHOD: Human single-rooted teeth were collected, steriled implanted in polyvinyl pipes up to a cement-o-enamel junction and de coronated. Cleaning and shaping of the canal were performed using the crown down technique followed by obturation of the canal space. Canal space was prepared using peso reamers and samples were divided into four groups based on types of canal disinfectant protocols. Group 1: Riboflavin+ 17%EDTA; group 2: Curcumin Photosensitizer + 17% EDTA; group 3: Gaseous Ozone disinfection (O3) +17% EDTA and group 4 control 2.5% NaOCl +17% EDTA. Within the canal space, fiber post was cemented and cured, and thermocycled. PBS was evaluated using a Universal testing machine (UTM) and failure modes using a stereomicroscope at 40x magnification. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to determine the mean and standard deviation of push-out bond strength (PBS). The Tukey multiple comparison tests (p = 0.05) was used to compare the means of PBS RESULTS: The highest PBS was displayed in group 2 CP+ 17% EDTA at all three root levels, coronal (8.81±0.61), middle (7.77±0.55), and apical (5.25±0.61). The lowest PBS was revealed in group 4, disinfected with 2.5% NaOCl +17% EDTA (control) at coronal (6.12±0.54), middle (5.46±0.84), and apical (3.00±1.88) levels. The most prevailed fracture mode was an adhesive failure (cement-dentin interface). CONCLUSION Radicular dentin disinfected with PDT using CP, riboflavin, and O3 displayed similar PBS at all root segments. NaOCl is a convenient, traditional, and commonly used disinfectant, and it's effects on PBS is still controversial.

Abstract
Background:
Preserving the strength and durability of dentin bonds is a concern of dental researchers and practitioners.
Objective:
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of treating etched dentin with vitamin C and curcumin suspension as cross-linking agents on the shear bond strength and durability of a universal dental adhesive.
Methods:
Extracted human third molar teeth were collected. Fifty-six flat coronal dentin surfaces were divided equally into four groups: (1) treated with adhesives; (2) etched with 37% H3PO4 for 10s before application of adhesives; (3) same as group (2), but with dentin treated with 2.5% curcumin suspension for 60s before the application of adhesive; and (4) same as group (3), but with the use of a 20% vitamin C suspension instead of a curcumin suspension. Filtek Z350XT composite was built for all samples. Half of the samples in each group were subjected to thermocycling. Shear bond strength was measured using a universal testing machine. Scanning electron microscopy was used to investigate the dentinal surfaces after treatment.
Results:
Treatment with curcumin suspension preserved immediate and long-term bond strength. Conversely, treatment of etched dentin with vitamin C solution significantly reduced the immediate bond strength, but a significant improvement was observed after aging. SEM showed that both cross-linking agents resulted in narrowing or closing of the dentinal tubules, with an adhesive mode of failure.
Conclusion:
The application of curcumin or vitamin C suspension to acid-etched dentin resulted in different effects on immediate and long-term shear bond strength when using universal adhesives.

Abstract
AIM Present lab-based study intended to appraise the effect of nisin, Mixture of Tetracycline, Acid and Detergent (MTAD), and photodynamic therapy (PDT) when used as a canal disinfectant on push-out bond strength (PBS) of fiber post to radicular dentin MATERIALS AND METHODS: Forty uni-radicular premolar teeth were extracted and disinfected in 0.5 % thymol solution. All specimens were decoronated to achieve standardize root length of 14 mm. Cleaning and shaping of the canal were done using protaper NiTi system. The canal space was dried and obturated. Post space was prepared using peso reamers up to 10 mm length and samples were randomly divided into 4 groups (n = 10). Group 1 irrigated with 10 % Nisin with MTAD, group 2: 1.3 % NaOCl and MTAD, Group 3 irrigated with 2.5 % NaOCl and 17 % EDTA and post space of samples in group 4 with PDT with MTAD. Fiber-reinforced composite post (FRCP) was fitted in canal space using self-etch resin cement. Each sample was cut into 1 mm from coronal, middle, and apical and subjected to PBS via a universal testing machine. For comparison of means, Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey multiple comparison test was used maintaining the level of significance at p < 0.05. RESULT Samples in group 3 post space irrigated with 2.5 % NaOCl and 17 % EDTA demonstrated the highest PBS at all root levels (cervical: 8.83 ± 0.14 MPa, middle: 7.63 ± 0.82 MPa and apical: 5.82 ± 0.32 MPa) in comparison to other tested groups. Whereas, group 1 in which Nisin 10 % with MTAD was used as a canal disinfectant displayed the lowest PBS at all levels (cervical: 6.91 ± 0.54 MPa, middle: 6.15 ± 0.31 MPa, and apical: 3.62 ± 0.68 MPa). CONCLUSION Post space irrigated with 1.3 % NaOCl and MTAD shows PBS similar to control group 2.5 % NaOCl and 17 % EDTA. Both types of irrigation methods have potential and can be recommended in clinical scenarios. Whereas, 10 % Nisin and PDT with MTAD as chelator needs further inquiry.

Abstract
AIM To investigate the efficacy of conventional root canal treatment (cRCT) with adjunctive photodynamic therapy (aPDT) against microbial biofilms within infected c-shaped root canals. METHODS In this in vitro report, the inoculation of 20 freshly extracted human mandibular molar teeth having c-shaped root canal configuration was performed with E. faecalis and P. aeruginosa to produce three-day biofilms in prepared canal system. PDT used a combination of chlorin (ce6) and polyethylenimine (PEI) as the photosensitizer (PS). A 200 μ-fiber was employed to deliver a 660 nm diode laser light into the root canal, and this was compared and conjugated with conventional endodontic treatment utilizing antiseptic irrigation and mechanical debridement. RESULTS The utilization of aPDT (group-2) resulted in a considerable decrease in the count of E. faecalis and P. aeruginosa from 12.84 ± 2.18 CFU/mL to 5.13 ± 0.67 CFU/mL, and from 14.06 ± 3.98 CFU/mL to 4.82 ± 1.05 CFU/mL pre-and post-treatment, respectively. A statistically significant reduction in the bacterial counts of both microbes was observed after treatment among the samples of the both study groups (p < 0.05). Specimens in group-2 (8.42 ± 1.14 MPa) demonstrated the highest mean push-out bond strength, whereas the lowest was shown by samples in group-1 (7.08 ± 1.09 MPa). ANOVA showed no statistical difference between the research groups (p = 0.676). The independent t-test revealed that the mean push-out bond strength scores of the cervical segments were higher than the apical and middle segments of roots in research groups (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION In c-shaped root canals, the application of photodynamic therapy as an adjuvant to conventional root canal treatment contributes to a statistically significant decrease in the microbial count of E. faecalis and P. aeruginosa along with an improved push-out bond strength of the root canal filling material with root.

Abstract
AIM To investigate push-out bond strength (PBS) of fiber post to radicular dentin after using different cementation techniques. MATERIAL AND METHODS Sixty single-rooted premolars were disinfected and cleaned by mechanical instrumentation. S1, S2, and SX were used for canal shaping and finishing of the canal was carried out using F1 and F2. This was followed by constant irrigation and smear layer removal using 17%EDTA. The canal was dried filled with gutta-percha and canal space was prepared using a peso reamer. Based on cementation techniques, samples were randomly allocated into six groups. Group 1: One-step Monoblock MC; Group 2: One-step, Monoblock MC-NA (no adhesive) GFP; Group 3: One-step, RX-MC-Monoblock; Group 4: Two-step, RX-MC; Group 5: Two-step, RX-FZ; and Group 6: Two-step RX-FZ-custom post. All specimens were mounted in polyvinyl pipes using acrylic resin up to cement enamel junction. All specimens were mounted in a universal testing machine subjected to push-out forces at a speed of 0.5 mm/min. Five samples from each group were sputter-coated with 6 nm gold thickness for 300 s at 250 mA. The coated specimens were assessed under the scanning electron microscope (SEM). Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey Kramer multiple comparisons tests were performed to compare means among groups maintaining the level of significance at (p < 0.001). RESULTS The highest PBS was displayed in RX-MC-Monoblock (199.020 ± 21.432 MPa). Whereas, lowest PBS was found in Monoblock MC-NA (no adhesive)-GFP (76.440 ± 9.468 MPa). Among one-step groups, RX-MC Monoblock exhibited the highest PBS (199.020 ± 21.432 MPa) comparable to one-step Monoblock MC (134.28 ± 19.37 MPa) (p > 0.05). Similarly, among two-steps groups, two-step RX-MC demonstrated significantly higher PBS values than two-step RX-FZ (143.340 ± 23.68 MPa) and RX-FZ-custom post (86.90 ± 7.41 MPa) (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION One-step RX-MC-Monoblock technique using self-adhesive cement and core foundation composite resin material multicore flow when cured simultaneously exhibited the highest bond integrity of post retention compared to other cementation technique.

Abstract
AIM The aim of the present study was to assess post space disinfection using different irrigants and their effect on radicular dentin bond to SERC. MATERIALS AND METHODS Forty single rooted mandibular 2nd premolars were collected and disinfected. All samples were decoronated maintaining root length of 12 mm and embedded vertically in acrylic resin. Shaping of the canal was performed using reciprocating system. Canals were dried using paper points and obturated with gutta percha via lateral condensation. Peso-reamers were used to create post space up to 10 mm. The post space was irrigated with 1% NaOCl before being randomly allocated into four groups (n = 10) according to different methods of canal disinfection. Samples in group 1 were subjected to photoactivated disinfection (PAD), group 2 irrigated with ethanol based propolis group 3 disinfected using ozone and group 4 irrigated with 2.25 % NaOCl with 17 % EDTA and ECL. GFP was fitted using SERC. Each sample was cut into 1 mm from coronal, middle and apical and subjected to pushout bond strength (PBS) via universal testing machine. Fracture analysis were confirmed by stereomicroscope at 40x magnification. For comparison of means, Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey multiple comparison test was used maintaining the level of significance at p < 0.05. RESULTS The highest PBS at all three levels were found in group 4, canal disinfected with 2.5 % NaOCl with 17 % EDTA and ECYL. Whereas, the lowest PBS was observed in group 1. Inter group comparison, prosthetic space disinfected with propolis extract showed no significant difference to group 4 canal disinfected with 2.5 % NaOCl with 17 % EDTA and ECYL at all three levels (p > 0.05). Intra group comparison in all experimental groups showed no significant difference was noted in coronal and middle thirds of group 1, group 2 and group 3 respectively (p > 0.05). CONCLUSION 2.5 % NaOCl with EDTA and ECL treatment (group 4) remains the gold standard when used as a final canal irrigant. Propolis can be used as potential irrigant for canal disinfectant provided if the composition becomes standardized.

Abstract
AIM To determine the push out bond strength (PBS) of fibre reinforced composite post (FRCP) bonded to radicular dentin using different cement types total etch resin cement (TERC) and Self-adhesive resin cement (SARC) conditioned with (PDT, 5.25 % NaOCl with EDTA and 1% NaOCl) MATERIALS AND METHODS: Sixty freshly extracted (orthodontic purpose) human single rooted mandibular premolars were collected. Teeth were disinfected and coronal part of all samples were removed. Cleaning shaping and finishing of canal space was performed and filled with gutta percha via lateral condensation. Post space was prepared and disinfected with three irrigating solutions. Samples in group 1 and 2 disinfected 5.25 % NaOCl with EDTA, group 3 and 4 steriled with 1% NaOCl and group 5 and 6 disinfected with Methylene Blue photodynamic therapy (PDT). Based on the resin cement, FRCP was luted with TERC in group 2, 4 and 5; and with SARC in group 1,3 and 6 respectively. All specimens were subjected to aging and push-out bond strength (PBS) on universal testing machine after sectioning of each sample in three segments (coronal, middle and apical). Following push out bond strength (PBS), debonded surface were observed under stereomicroscope at 40x magnification. PBS were equated by means of analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey's post hoc test maintaining level of significance (p < 0.05) RESULTS: Group 1 (SARC) and 2 (TERC) disinfected with 5.25 % NaOCl with 17 % EDTA, TERC (group 2) showed higher extrusion bond strength at all three levels coronal (9.25 ± 0.21 MPa) middle (8.81 ± 0.94 MPa) and apical (8.21 ± 0.93 MPa). Whereas, canal space sterilized with 1% NaOCl [group 3 (SARC) and group 4 (TERC)], posts cemented with TERC exhibited the higher PBS at all three levels of root canal (10.22 ± 0.36 MPa), (9.68 ± 0.51 MPa), (6.33 ± 0.08 MPa). Similarly, among PDT disinfected fiber post [group 5 (TERC) and group 6 (SARC)], TERC exhibited the greater PBS values at coronal, middle and apical levels (6.25 ± 0.39 MPa) (5.17 ± 0.22 MPa) (4.32 ± 0.69 MPa) compared to SARC specimens CONCLUSION: Irrespective of canal irrigant, fiber post bonded with TERC showed higher PBS at coronal and middle third. Fiber post bonded with SARC when irrigated with 5.25 % NaOCl with EDTA, 1% NaOCl displayed higher PBS at apical third. Canal disinfected using PDT showed lower PBS for FRCP compared to 5.25 % NaOCl with EDTA and 1% NaOCl.
