Microphallus/Micropenis is a rare condition with significant physical and psychological implications for affected individuals. This article comprehensively reviews micropenis, its etiology, epidemiology, and various treatment options. We conducted a thorough literature review to collect relevant information on micropenis and microphallus, as well as related disorders. Our primary databases were PubMed, Medline, and Google Scholar. We searched for articles published in English between 2000 and 2023. Our analysis included 67 review articles, 56 research studies, 11 case reports, one guideline, and one editorial. Our search terms included "microphallus", "micropenis", "congenital hypogonadotropic hypogonadism", "androgen insensitivity syndrome", "pediatric management of micropenis", "testosterone therapy", and "psychosocial implications of micropenis". We focused on diagnosing micropenis and related conditions, including hormonal assessments, medical and surgical treatment options, psychosocial and psychological well-being, sexual development of adolescents, and sociocultural influences on men's perceptions of penile size. Additionally, we explored parenting and family dynamics in cases of micropenis and disorders of sex development, implications of hormonal treatment in neonates, and studies related to penile augmentation procedures and their effectiveness. The article highlights the importance of early diagnosis and intervention in addressing the physical and psychological well-being of individuals with micropenis. Surgical procedures, such as penile lengthening and girth enhancement, and non-surgical approaches like hormonal therapy are explored. The significance of psychological support, education, and lifestyle modifications is emphasized. Early management and comprehensive care are crucial for individuals with micropenis, from infancy to adolescence and beyond. A multidisciplinary approach involving urologists, endocrinologists, and mental health professionals is recommended. Regular assessment of treatment effectiveness and the need for updated guidelines are essential to provide the best possible care. Healthcare professionals should prioritize early diagnosis, and neonatologists should measure stretched penile length in neonates. A collaborative effort is needed among professionals, parents, and affected individuals to create a supportive environment that recognizes worth beyond physical differences. Continuous research and evidence-based updates are crucial for improving care standards.

Are androstenedione, dihydrotestosterone, thyroid-stimulating hormone, insulin-like growth factor I, and insulin-like growth factor binding protein 3 necessary for isolated micropenis healthy boys' evaluation without any phenotypic abnormalities? A cross-sectional study

The study aimed to familiarise primary care physicians and specialists with the minimum hormonal diagnostic tests necessary to assay isolated micropenis in healthy children without any phenotypic abnormality. Children aged 6-15 years (mean 11.6 ± 1.68) were assessed from May 2010 to September 2021 (N = 247). Multiple regression analysis showed correlations between stretched penile length (SPL) and hormonal assays as follows: follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH): r = 0.097, p = 0.035; luteinizing hormone (LH): r = 0.139, p = 0.012, thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH): r = -0.001, p = 0.321; testosterone (T): r = 0.118, p = 0.004; dihydrotestosterone (DHT): r = 0.002, p = 0.243; androstenedione (Δ4And): r = -0.004, p = 0.502; insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I): r = -0.003, p = 0.062; and IFG-binding protein 3 (IGF-BP₃ ): r = 0.052, p = 0.051. The most hormonal disorder was testosterone deficiency. TSH, Δ4And, and DHT were normal in all boys. SPL was significantly correlated with FSH, LH, and T, but there was no significant correlation between SPL and TSH, DHT, Δ4And, IGF-I, and IGF-BP₃ . Whenever the isolated micropenis is seen without other anomalies, it is sufficient to assay testosterone, FSH, and LH in the first step.

Dilemma on Indonesian adult with micropenis during COVID-19 pandemic: A case report and review article

Background

Micropenis usually has a series of causative factors that must be identified to determine the treatment modality.

Case presentation

A 24-years-old Indonesian male complained of a small penis since infancy. The patient has a short penis size (3 cm), no pubic hair, small scrotum, both testes cannot hide palpable, and tanner scale 2. The hormonal examination includes testosterone hormone of 14.94 ng/dL, luteinizing hormone of 14.89 mUI/mL, and follicle-stimulating hormone of 67.51 mUI/mL. Ultrasound showed no testicular location and only a prostate-like appearance of a size of 0.6 × 2.07 cm on the abdomen. The patient will receive therapy but was constrained by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Discussion

diagnosis of micropenis and gonadotropin hormone disorders must be detected early and receive treatment immediately for better results.

Conclusion

Micropenis is a medical diagnosis that depends on proper examination and management, and early diagnosis is essential to improve prognosis.

Congenital Micropenis: Etiology And Management

In the newborn, penile length is determined by a number of androgen dependent and independent factors. The current literature suggests that there are interracial differences in stretched penile length in the newborn and although congenital micropenis should be defined as a stretched penile length of less than 2.5 SDS of the mean for the corresponding population and gestation, a pragmatic approach would be to evaluate all boys with a stretched penile length below 2 cm, as congenital micropenis can be a marker for a wide range of endocrine conditions. However, it remains unclear as to whether the state of micropenis, itself, is associated with any long-term consequences. There is a lack of systematic studies comparing the impact of different therapeutic options on long-term outcomes, in terms of genital appearance, quality of life, and sexual satisfaction. To date, research has been hampered by a small sample size and inclusion of a wide range of heterogeneous diagnoses; for these reasons, condition-specific outcomes have been difficult to compare between studies. Lastly, there is a need for a greater collaborative effort in collecting standardized data so that all real-world or experimental interventions performed at an early age can be studied systematically into adulthood.

Prenatal Diagnosis and Classification of Fetal Hypospadias: The Role and Value of Magnetic Resonance Imaging

BACKGROUND

Prenatal diagnosis and classification of hypospadias are difficult and of value for management during perinatal and neonatal periods. The conventional approach for prenatal diagnosis of hypospadias is ultrasound; however, this technique may be inconclusive in certain cases, which prompts for further exploration with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

PURPOSE

To investigate the role of MRI in the prenatal diagnosis and classification of fetuses with hypospadias.

STUDY TYPE

Retrospective.

POPULATION

Thirty-five fetuses (median gestational age = 37, range 24-39 weeks) with possible hypospadias.

FIELD STRENGTH/SEQUENCE

Single-shot fast spin echo T2-weighted imaging, fast imaging employing steady-state acquisition (FIESTA), and three-dimensional FIESTA acquired at 1.5 T.

ASSESSMENT

Diagnosis and classification of hypospadias using MRI were performed by three experienced radiologists based on MRI features, including a short penile shaft, abnormal penile tip, penile curvature, bifid scrotum, "tulip sign," and penoscrotal transposition. The accuracy of MRI in the diagnosis and classification of hypospadias was assessed in comparison to postnatal clinical diagnosis. The interobserver agreement between radiologists was also assessed.

STATISTICAL TESTS

Kendall's W test was applied to assess the interobserver agreement between radiologists. Taking postnatal clinical diagnosis as the reference standard, the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and accuracy were calculated.

RESULTS

Of the 35 fetuses, 24 cases were confirmed as hypospadias through postnatal clinical diagnosis. The interobserver agreement between radiologists was substantial (Kendall's W = 0.781, P < 0.001). Of the 24 confirmed cases (13 cases of severe hypospadias and 11 cases of mild hypospadias), 22 cases were correctly diagnosed by MRI. The accuracy of MRI in the diagnosis of hypospadias, severe hypospadias, and mild hypospadias was 85.71%, 82.86%, and 80.00%, respectively.

DATA CONCLUSION

MRI has good performance in the diagnosis of fetal hypospadias. In addition, MRI could help evaluate the severity of fetal hypospadias.

Stretched penile length and total serum testosterone in term male neonates

Introduction

the reference values of stretched penile length vary with different ethnic group. There is paucity of data on the reference range of total serum testosterone in neonates especially in Africa. This study therefore was to determine the normal stretched penile length, total serum testosterone levels in term male newborns and to correlate them with anthropometric parameters.

Methods

this was a prospective cross-sectional study. One hundred and twenty-four consecutive healthy term male neonates were recruited in the first 72 hours of postnatal life. The stretched penile length (SPL) was measured with a rigid metric ruler. Weight, length and occipitofrontal circumference were also measured. Total serum testosterone level was determined using Enzyme Linked Immunoassay. Data were analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences for Windows version 20.

Results

a total of 124 term male neonates were recruited. The postnatal age of recruited neonates was one to 70 hours with a mean of 22.8 ± 17.6 hours and the mean of estimated gestation age was 38.5 ± 1.3 weeks. The range of stretched penile length was from 2.1 to 3.9 cm with a mean of 3.2 ± 0.4 cm and SPL less than 2.2 cm was considered as micropenis. The mean total serum testosterone level was 357.4 ± 241.7 ng/dl. The SPL had a positive correlation with the birth weight, length and total serum testosterone. The total serum testosterone and birth length were predictors of stretched penile length.

Conclusion

among the studied population the mean stretched penile length was 3.2 cm and mean total serum testosterone was 357.4 ng/dL.

Fate of the micropenis and constitutional small penis: do they grow to normalcy in puberty?

INTRODUCTION

Penile length is an important indicator of male sexual development. Scarce data were reported on penile length measurements in children comparing changes between prepuberty and puberty for the small penile issue with long-term follow-up.

OBJECTIVE

The purpose of this study was to investigate the possibility of catch-up growth of the penile length of boys with a small penis in the long-term follow-up.

STUDY DESIGN

From April 2001 to December 2016, 27 boys who visited the outpatient clinic owing to a small penis, without any chromosomal anomalies and other genital disorder, were investigated retrospectively. Micropenis is defined as 2.5 standard deviations less than the mean stretched penile length (SPL) of age. Periodic penile length, testicular volume, hormonal levels (serum testosterone, luteinizing hormone (LH), and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)), and bone age were measured. Pubertal development was recorded by using the Tanner scale. The effect of hormonal therapy and the factors attributable to the increment of the penile length were evaluated.

RESULTS

The mean age at the first visit was 9.8 years (5-12 years) and that at puberty was 12.6 years (10-16 years). The length of the penis at the initial visit was 4.0 ± 0.8 cm (2.5-6.0) and at puberty, 7.3 ± 1.8 cm (4.0-12.0). Nine patients diagnosed with micropenis no longer had a micropenis in puberty. The less the age-matched SPL, the more the increment of SPL that was observed (rho = - 0.548, P = 0.003). The mean increment of SPL in the hormonal therapy group (11 boys) and the non-hormonal therapy group (16 boys) was not statistically different (43.5 ± 22. 9% vs 41.5 ± 21.6%, respectively, P = 0.497).

DISCUSSION

This study explains how much the growth of a small penis catches up in puberty. From the point of view of the increment of SPL, the increment was higher in boys who belonged to the smaller penis group. Hormonal therapy does not attribute to an increase in the length after long-term follow-up. Limitations of this study were its retrospective origin with a small number of patients in a single center.

CONCLUSION

Catch-up growth of the small penis at puberty was accomplished in most children with a small penis before puberty. Hormonal treatment was not significantly correlated with the penile length increment in the long-term follow-up.

Efficacy and safety of percutaneous administration of dihydrotestosterone in children of different genetic backgrounds with micropenis

BACKGROUND

Exogenous androgen supplement is an optional treatment for micropenis; however, its use in childhood is controversial due to potential side effects.

METHODS

Twenty-three children (mean age: 4.07±3.4 years) with micropenis of unknown causes harboring the 46,XY karyotype were recruited in an open prospective study. Androgen receptor (AR), steroid 5α-reductase-2 (SRD5A2), and SRY genes were sequenced; 2.5% dihydrotestosterone (DHT) transdermal gel (0.1-0.3 mg/kg/day) was applied and titrated within the normal DHT serum reference ranges. Stretched penile length (SPL) was measured before therapy, and after 1, 3 and 6 months of DHT gel treatment, respectively.

RESULTS

Two patients were found with AR gene mutations and five patients with SRD5A2 gene mutations. Average stretched penile lengths (SPLs) were 1.68±0.6 cm at baseline and 2.2±0.66 cm, 2.6±0.59 cm and 2.9±0.55 cm (mean ± 1 SD) after 1, 3 and 6 months of treatment, respectively. Fourteen cases (61%) reached standard penile length ranges (>-2.5 SD) and medication was discontinued; six cases (26%) were satisfied with the improved penile lengths despite failing to reach the aged matched standards. Three infants (13%) discontinued the medication after 3 months due to anxiety about the potential side effects. No significant side effects were found except the elevated DHT serum levels after therapy.

CONCLUSIONS

Short term and local application of DHT at low doses in patients with micropenis could accelerate penile growth effectively without evident side effects; however, precautions still need be taken due to the paucity of long term study and the lack of ideal DHT dosage.

The Change of Stretched Penile Length and Anthropometric Data in Korean Children Aged 0-14 Years: Comparative Study of Last 25 Years

There has been a great improvement in height and weight of Korean children owing to economic development over the last 25 years. This study aimed to evaluate the penile length of Korean children today and to compare it with a previous Korean study reported in 1987. The cross-sectional study was conducted with 909 Korean boys aged 0-14 years who had been brought to outpatient clinics of five tertiary hospitals (Busan, Ulsan, and Changwon) between September 2013 and May 2015. The stretched penile length (SPL) was measured and the testicular size was measured using orchidometry (mL). Student's t-test or Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare the result of our study and the study reported in 1987. SPL of Korean children gradually increased from 4.1 ± 0.8 cm at 0-1 year old to 9.6 ± 3.0 cm at 13-14 years old, the most rapidly during the age of 13. While body weight and testicular size significantly increased from 1987 in most of age groups, there were no significant changes in SPL although there was in some age groups. Height decreased in the infants < 1 year old and increased in the children > 6 years old. With the great economic development over the last quarter century in Korea, height, body weight, and testicular size of children significantly increased but there was no significant change in SPL except penile growth pattern.

Penile length, digit length, and anogenital distance according to birth weight in newborn male infants

PURPOSE

Anogential distance (AGD) and the 2:4 digit length ratio appear to provide a reliable guide to fetal androgen exposure. We intended to investigate the current status of penile size and the relationship between penile length and AGD or digit length according to birth weight in Korean newborn infants.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

Between May 2013 and February 2014, among a total of 78 newborn male infants, 55 infants were prospectively included in this study. Newborn male infants with a gestational age of 38 to 42 weeks and birth weight>2.5 kg were assigned to the NW group (n=24) and those with a gestational age<38 weeks and birth weight<2.5 kg were assigned to the LW group (n=31). Penile size and other variables were compared between the two groups.

RESULTS

Stretched penile length of the NW group was 3.3 ± 0.2 cm, which did not differ significantly from that reported in 1987. All parameters including height, weight, penile length, testicular size, AGD, and digit length were significantly lower in the LW group than in the NW group. However, there were no significant differences in AGD ratio or 2:4 digit length ratio between the two groups.

CONCLUSIONS

The penile length of newborn infants has not changed over the last quarter century in Korea. With normal penile appearance, the AGD ratio and 2:4 digit length ratio are consistent irrespective of birth weight, whereas AGD, digit length, and penile length are significantly smaller in newborns with low birth weight.

Etiological evaluation of patients presenting with isolated micropenis to an academic health care center

OBJECTIVE

To evaluate etiology of the patients with micropenis presenting to a tertiary health care center.

METHODS

In this prospective study all patients who were referred with a diagnosis of micropenis from October 2009 through October 2010, underwent a complete evaluation including measurement of stretched penile length.

RESULTS

In 20 (31 %) among a total of 65 patients, measured stretched penile length was not consistent with the description of micropenis. True presence of micropenis was confirmed in the remaining 45 of total 65 cases (69 %). Etiological cause was determined in 29 patients (44 %) with the most common cause being hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. No etiological cause could be found in 16 patients (25 %).

CONCLUSIONS

In approximately one third of patients the presence of micropenis was not confirmed. The most common causes of misdiagnosis were buried penis due to obesity, erroneous measurement of stretched penile length, and/or lack of knowledge on population standards for penile length. Etiological basis of micropenis is rather heterogeneous. Despite extensive investigations, no causal link was found in around one fourth of cases. Accurate measurement and utilization of internationally accepted standards is utmost important for diagnosis and management of micropenis.

Micropenis represents a clinical sign that should be diagnosed at birth (or in utero) by the detection of a normally structured penis with a length 2.5 SD below the mean for age. Micropenis can be classified as due to deficient testosterone secretion or action. Evaluation of the gonadotropic and testicular function during the mini-puberty is often helpful in evaluating the etiology. Management of micropenis should focus on achieving a suitable penis length, in order to allow an adequate urination, normal sexual intercourses and a good self-body image. Irrespective of the underlying cause, a short course of T should be tried in patients with micropenis to assess the ability of the penis to respond to it. Topical 5a-dihydrotestosterone gel has also been reported to be effective. Children with hypopituitarism and GH deficiency respond to appropriate hormonal therapy. Psychological counseling is helpful and often necessary.

Penile length nomogram for Asian Indian prepubertal boys

BACKGROUND

Penile length-for-age nomograms in prepubertal boys may aid in early recognition of endocrine and genetic disorders associated with abnormal phallic size. There are scarce data on the penile length measurements in children beyond the neonatal period and there is a lack of such a nomogram for Asian Indians.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

Of the boys who were admitted in our ward or seen in the outpatient setting for genitalia-unrelated surgical problems, 20 consecutive boys were included in each of the following ten age slots (total of 200 subjects): 0-1, 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, 5-6, 6-7, 7-8, 8-9, and 9-10 years. Their stretched penile length (SPL) measurements were used to establish the normal range (mean ± 2 SD) of penile length-for-age in prepubertal Indian boys. Mean ± 2.5 SD was also calculated to define the cut-offs for micropenis and macropenis, respectively, in each age group.

RESULTS

A rapid increase is seen in penile length up to 4 years of age. A much slower increase is implied thereafter.

CONCLUSION

This study provides reference values of penile lengths for Asian Indian boys aged 0-10 years.

Micropenis: etiology, diagnosis and treatment approaches

Micropenis is a medical diagnosis based on correct measurement of length. If stretched penile length is below the value corresponding to - 2.5 standard deviation of the mean in a patient with normal internal and external male genitalia, a diagnosis of micropenis is considered. Micropenis can be caused by a variety of factors including structural or hormonal defects of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. It can also be a component of a number of congenital syndromes. For the etiological evaluation, endocrinologic tests are important. This article reviews the etiology, diagnosis, treatment and management of micropenis.

Change in penile length in children: preliminary study

Purpose

Studies of penile length in children have been rarely conducted. In Korea, great improvements in height and weight have been observed because of economic development over the past 25 years. We investigated the current status of penile length in Korean children and compared the results with those of a previous Korean study conducted in 1987.

Materials and Methods

The subjects in this study were 233 boys aged 1 to 158 months, each of whom had been brought to outpatient clinics between April and October 2011. Penile length was measured according to the stretched penile length (SPL) technique; testicular size was measured (in ml) by using orchidometry. A comparison of penile lengths between the current study and the 1987 study was made by using Student's t-test.

Results

SPL increased significantly by 0.7 to 1.1 cm in most age groups (p<0.05). Current anthropometric measures of Korean children such as height, body weight, and testicular size have increased compared with those from 1987.

Conclusions

Penile length has increased significantly over the last quarter century. Therefore, it is suggested that novel reference values for penile length in prepubertal Korean children be determined in studies with a larger community-based population in order to diagnose and treat size-related penile disorders.

Male genital abnormalities in intrauterine growth restriction

OBJECTIVE

Previous studies have shown a correlation between hypospadias and intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), suggesting an association between placental insufficiency and abnormal genital development. This study sought to analyze the association of IUGR and genital abnormalities apparent on fetal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

METHODS

This retrospective study included 22 MRI scans of 20 male fetuses between 20 and 35 weeks of gestation presenting with IUGR. On MRI, penile length and testicular descent were evaluated. Student's t-testing and analysis of covariance were used to compare MRI penile length measurements with published normative data obtained from fetal ultrasonography (US) and MRI. McNemar testing was used to evaluate testicular descent in IUGR, compared with reported fetal MRI normative data.

RESULTS

The penile length in IUGR fetuses was shorter than in normal fetuses (p<0.001). Furthermore, six of 20 fetuses presented with a micropenis (2.5 SD below the mean value for age). Undescended testes were significantly more frequent in IUGR fetuses than in normal fetuses (p=0.004).

CONCLUSION

Our data confirm that abnormal fetal growth may be associated with penile shortening and, potentially, also undescended testes.

Impaired puberty, fertility, and final stature in 45,X/46,XY mixed gonadal dysgenetic patients raised as boys

CONTEXT

Gender assignment followed by surgery and hormonal therapy is a difficult decision in the management of 45,X/46,XY patients with abnormal external genitalia at birth considering the paucity of studies evaluating pubertal development and fertility outcome, most notably for patients raised as boys.

OBJECTIVE

The purpose of this study was to describe the pubertal course of 20 45,X/46,XY patients born with ambiguous genitalia and raised as boys.

METHODS

This is a multicenter retrospective study.

RESULTS

Mean age at study was 25.6±2.4 years. Eighty-five percent of the patients presented a 'classical' mixed gonadal dysgenetic phenotype at birth. Puberty was initially spontaneous in all but three boys, although in six other patients, testosterone therapy was subsequently necessary for completion of puberty. Sixty-seven percent of the remaining patients presented signs of declined testicular function at the end of puberty (increased levels of FSH and low levels of testosterone and/or inhibin B). Moreover, an abnormal structure of the Y chromosome, known to alter fertility, was found in 10 out of 16 (63%) patients. Two patients developed testicular cancer. Half of the patients have adult penile length of <80 mm. Mean adult height is 156.9±2 cm, regardless of GH treatment.

CONCLUSIONS

In summary, 45,X/46,XY children born with ambiguous genitalia and raised as boys have an altered pubertal course and impaired fertility associated with adult short stature, which should, therefore, be taken into consideration for the management of these patients.

Aspectos clínicos e moleculares do hipogonadismo hipogonadotrófico isolado congênito

O hipogonadismo hipogonadotrófico isolado (HHI) congênito caracteriza-se pela falta completa ou parcial de desenvolvimento puberal em decorrência de defeitos na migração, síntese, secreção ou ação do hormônio liberador de gonadotrofinas (GnRH). Baixas concentrações de esteroides sexuais e valores reduzidos ou inapropriadamente normais de gonadotrofinas hipofisárias (LH e FSH) definem, do ponto de vista laboratorial, essa condição clínica. A secreção dos demais hormônios hipofisários encontra-se normal, bem como a ressonância magnética de região hipotalâmica-hipofisária, demonstrando a ausência de uma causa anatômica. Alterações olfatórias, como anosmia ou hiposmia, podem estar associadas ao HHI, caracterizando a síndrome de Kallmann. Uma lista crescente de genes está envolvida na etiologia do HHI, sugerindo a heterogeneidade e a complexidade da base genética dessa condição. Distúrbios na rota de migração dos neurônios secretores de GnRH e dos neurônios olfatórios formam a base clínico-patológica da síndrome de Kallmann. Mutações nos genes KAL1, FGFR1/FGF8, PROK2/PROKR2, NELF, CHD7, HS6ST1 e WDR11 foram associadas a defeitos de migração neuronal, causando a síndrome de Kallmann. É notável que defeitos nos genes FGFR1, FGF8, PROKR2, CHD7 e WDR11 foram também associados ao HHI sem alterações olfatórias (HHI normósmico), porém em menor frequência. Adicionalmente, defeitos nos KISS1R, TAC3/TACR3 e GNRH1/GNRHR foram descritos exclusivamente em pacientes com HHI normósmico. Neste trabalho, revisaremos as características clínicas, hormonais e genéticas do HHI.

Abnormalities of the penis in utero--hypospadias on fetal MRI

OBJECTIVE

To demonstrate the visualization of penile abnormalities on fetal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

METHODS

This retrospective study included five fetuses (25+0 to 31+6 gestational weeks) with penile abnormalities, positively depicted on fetal MRI, using prenatal ultrasonography (US) as a standard of reference. On MRI, the penis, as well as the scrotum and testicles, were evaluated. All fetal organs were reviewed to define penile abnormalities as isolated or in association with other anomalies. Furthermore, US and MRI findings were compared.

RESULTS

Posterior hypospadias were demonstrated in all five fetuses, and abnormal testicular descent in two. Associated anomalies were present in all five fetuses on MRI, including abdominal/urogenital pathologies in four; brain pathologies in three; and craniofacial, cardiac, musculoskeletal, pathologies each in one fetus, and intrauterine growth retardation in one fetus. Compared to US, additional MRI findings were shown in four of five fetuses.

CONCLUSIONS

Our MRI results demonstrate the visualization of fetal penile abnormalities and associated pathologies, which may provide information for perinatal management. MRI may show additional findings compared to prenatal US in certain cases.
