Abstract
A cyclic Fe6 like a “six-vane windmill” and a bricky Fe18 clusters as a “Chinese knot” were obtained. Moreover, the alkali-induced conversion from Fe6 to Fe18 has been achieved, realizing the nuclearity enlargement and structural regulation.

Abstract
Byssus is a thread-like seafood waste that has a natural high efficiency in anchoring many metal ions thanks to its richness of diverse functional groups. It also has structural stability in extreme chemical, physical and mechanical conditions. The combination of these properties, absent in other waste materials, has novelty suggested its use as matrix for water remediation. Thus, pristine byssus, upon de-metalation, was studied to remove metal ions from ideal solutions at pH 4 and 7, as model chemical systems of industrial and environmental polluted waters, respectively. The byssus matrix's uptake of metal ions was determined by ICP-OES and its surface microstructure investigated by SEM. The results showed that the byssus matrix excellently uptakes metal ions slightly reorganizing its surface micro-structure. As example of its efficiency: 50 mg of byssus absorbed 21.7 mg·g-1 of Cd2+ from a 10 mM solution at pH 7. The adsorption isotherm models of Freundlich and Langmuir were mainly used to describe the system at pH 7 and pH 4, respectively. In conclusion, we showed that the byssus, a waste material that is an environmental issue, has the potential to purify polluted industrial and environmental waters from metal ions.

Abstract
The reaction of CoCl2·6H2O, N,N-bis-(2-hy-droxy-eth-yl)glycine and tri-ethyl-amine (Et3N) in ethanol solution under solvothermal conditions produced crystals of [N,N-bis-(2-hy-droxy-eth-yl)glycinato]chloridocobalt(II), [Co(C6H12NO4)Cl]. The CoII ion is coordinated in a slightly distorted trigonal-bipyramidal environment which is defined by three O atoms occupying the equatorial plane and the N and Cl atoms in the apical sites. In the crystal, two types of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds connect the mol-ecules, forming a two-dimensional network parallel to (001). The mol-ecular structure of the title compound confirms the findings of FTIR, elemental analysis, ESI-MS analysis and TG analysis. By using the density functional theory (DFT) (B3LYP) method with 6-31G(d) basis set, the molecular structure has been calculated and optimized.

Abstract
The title compound, [Co(C6H12O4)2]·H2O, was prepared by mild heating of an aqueous solution. The Co(II) ion has a slightly distorted octahedral coordination environment which is defined by two N atoms occupying the apical position, while the equatorial plane is furnished by two hy-droxy O atoms and two carboxyl-ate O atoms. The four hy-droxy O atoms from two distinct N,N-bis-(2-hy-droxy-eth-yl)glycine (bicH2 (-)) ligands act as hydrogen-bond donors with two carboxyl-ate O atoms as acceptors to form O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonded layers extending parallel to (100). In addition, the guest water mol-ecule acts as both a hydrogen-bond donor and acceptor, so that each Co(bicH2)2 mol-ecule is connected simultaneously to six neighbouring Co(bicH2)2 and two guest water mol-ecules by hydrogen bonding.

Abstract
The reaction of N, N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)glycine (bicine; bicH3) with Cd(O2CPh)2 · 2H2O in MeOH yielded the polymeric compound [Cd2(O2CPh)2(bicH2)2]n(1). The complex crystallizes in the tetragonal space group P41212. The lattice constants are a = b = 12.737(5) and c = 18.288(7) Å. The compound contains chains of repeating {Cd2(O2CPh)2(bicH2)2} units. One CdII atom is coordinated by two carboxylate oxygen, four hydroxyl oxygen, and two nitrogen atoms from two symmetry-related 2.21111 (Harris notation) bicH2− ligands. The other CdII atom is coordinated by six carboxylate oxygen atoms, four from two bicH2− ligands and two from the monodentate benzoate groups. Each bicinate(-1) ligand chelates the 8-coordinate, square antiprismatic CdII atom through one carboxylate oxygen, the nitrogen, and both hydroxyl oxygen atoms and bridges the second, six-coordinate trigonal prismatic CdII center through its carboxylate oxygen atoms. Compound 1 is the first structurally characterized cadmium(II) complex containing any anionic form of bicine as ligand. IR data of 1 are discussed in terms of the coordination modes of the ligands and the known structure.
