Abstract
The current study aimed to synthesize seven new metal coordination complexes (Q1-Q7) with potential biomedical applications. Novel mononuclear, polynuclear and mixed-ligand coordination compounds of the elements, cadmium(ii) and silver(i) derived from a pyridine containing ligand (2,4,6-tris-(2-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine (TPT)) have been synthesized successfully with the general formulae [Cd(TPT)Cl6]·H2O and [Ag x (TPT) y (L)2(ClO4)](ClO4) z (x = 1,2,3, y = 1,2,3, L = PPh3 or phen, z = 1,2). The structural features were fully characterized using various spectroscopic techniques, such as infrared, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, 1D and 2D-NMR (1H, 13C, 31P, 1H-1H COSY and 1H-13C HSQCAD), CHN analysis, molar conductance (Λ), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and powder X-ray diffraction analysis. The structure of complex Q6 was also confirmed by single-crystal X-ray analysis. The luminescence and electrochemical properties of complexes, in solution, have been studied. X-ray crystallographic determination of the [Ag(TPT)(PPh3)2]ClO4·EtOH (Q6) complex shows that the Ag+ cation is bonded to one tridentate TPT ligand through NNN set of donor atoms and two triphenylphosphine ligands, giving the Ag+ a distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometry. X-ray powder diffraction analysis showed that metal complexes Q3, Q6 and Q7 display crystalline peaks. The complexes were evaluated for their in vitro antibacterial efficacy against various bacterial and fungal species. The in vitro efficacy against the MCF-7 human breast cancer cell line was assessed to determine the anticancer activities. The tri-nuclear silver complex Q3 shows great potential as a therapeutic candidate for treating breast cancer, since it exhibits a half-maximal inhibition concentration (IC50) of 13.45 ± 0.9 μM. Molecular docking simulations were also carried out to evaluate the interaction strength and properties of the metal complexes with selected cancer and bacteria relevant proteins namely cyclin-dependent kinase 2 (CDK2), cyclin-dependent kinase 6 (CDK6), signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3), and beta-lactamases from Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.

One pot synthesis of two potent Ag(I) complexes with quinoxaline ligand, X-ray structure, Hirshfeld analysis, antimicrobial, and antitumor investigations. Sci Rep 2022; 12:20881. Abstract
In one pot, the self-assembly of AgNO3 and 2-chloroquinoxaline (2Cl-quinox) in water-ethanol mixture afforded two novel crystalline Ag(I) complexes. The major product is the polymeric complex [Ag(2Cl-quinox)(NO3)]n; (1), while the minor product (2) comprises two molecules which are the monomeric [Ag(2Cl-quinox)2(NO3)]; (2a) and polymeric [Ag(2Cl-quinox)(NO3)]n; (2b) complexes. The single crystal X-ray structure revealed that 1 and 2b are made up of two-dimensional infinite sheets. In contrast, 2a is a monomeric complex which has a highly distorted tetrahedral geometry around Ag(I) center. In all cases, the 2Cl-quinox molecule acts as a terminal monodentate ligand. Complexes 1 and 2b have similar molecular structures and also have almost similar crystal packing. Using Hirshfeld surface analysis, the O…H hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking interactions contributed significantly to the molecular packing. Both complexes have broad-spectrum action towards multi drug-resistance bacteria. The most effective function of 2 is against Proteus morganii, with a MIC value of 8 μg/mL. Complex 2 (IC50 = 5.93 ± 0.52 μg/mL) has remarkably greater cytotoxic effect against lung carcinoma (A-549) than cis-platin (IC50 = 7.5 ± 0.69 μg/mL) and AgNO3 (IC50 = 14.7 ± 0.53 μg/mL). The higher Ag-content in 2 could be the main reason for its higher cytotoxicity than 1.

Abstract
High nutrient loading in aquatic environment has become the main causative of harmful algae blooms (HABs) in water resources particularly pond, lake and river. HABs are mostly dominated by microalgae derived from the group of blue-green algae which are capable of releasing harmful toxins. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the inhibitory effects of thiourea derivatives on the growth of such blue-green algae. Thiourea derivatives have been proven to exhibit antifungal and antibacterial effects. However, there is still limited study had been conducted on the effect of thiourea derivatives toward blue-green algae species in recent years. In this research, a species of blue-green algae from Kenyir Lake, Terengganu, Malaysia was successfully isolated using morphological characters and molecularly identified as Synechoccus elongatus. Four new thiourea derivative compounds were also successfully synthesised. The compounds were designed with variation on different R-substitution group and characterised using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) to confirm their molecular structure. Those compounds were characterised as 1-Benzyl-3-(3,5-dimethoxy-benzoyl)-thiourea (C1), 1-(3-Chloro-benzyl)-3-(3,5-dimethoxy-benzoyl)-thiourea (C2), 1-(3,5-Dimethoxy-benzoyl)-3-(3-methyl-benzyl)-thiourea (C3) and 1-(3,5-Dimethoxy-benzoyl)-3-(3-trifluoromethyl-benzyl)-thiourea (C4). For the inhibition assessment,S. elongatus were treated with C1-C4 for 5 day at concentration of 2, 5, 10 and 20 μg/ml, respectively. C3 compound showed the highest inhibition percentage with 98% of inhibition after 5 days treatment. By using Bradford method, protein extraction of S. elongatus was conducted at the highest inhibition percentage. Protein concentration of treated species was observed with 3.28 μg/ml as compared to protein concentration of control with 6.48 μg/ml. This result indicated the reduction of protein content after the treatment. Protein band pattern was identified intensed after the treatment SDS PAGE was carried out. The thiourea derivatives compound proved to have successfully inhibited the growth of blue-green algae. Hence, further study should be carried out to ensure the compound can be practically utilized in the pond and in natural environment.

Abstract
Abstract
A heteroleptic silver(I) complex of bis(diphenylphosphano)methane (DPPM) and thiourea (tu) with the formula [Ag2(DPPM)2(tu)3](NO3)2 · 2H2O (1) was prepared and characterized by infrared (IR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (1H, 13C, and 31P) spectroscopic methods, and X-ray crystallography. The crystal structure determination has shown that the complex (1) is dinuclear having each silver(I) ion coordinated by two phosphorus atoms of DPPM molecules and two sulfur atoms of tu ligands adopting a distorted tetrahedral environment. The two silver atoms are bridged by one of the three tu molecules. The other two tu ligands are coordinated in a terminal mode; one with each silver(I) ion. The dinuclear units are associated to each other through hydrogen bonding interactions to form a three-dimensional network in the solid state. Complex 1 showed significant activity against two Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa), and molds (Aspergillus niger, Penicillium citrinum), while the activities were poor towards yeasts (Candida albicans, Saccharomyces cerevisiae).

Abstract
One-pot synthesis of a new magnetic disinfectant was achieved through the polymerization of thiourea and formaldehyde in the presence of magnetite nanoparticles (MTUF). The obtained magnetic chelating resin was loaded with Ag(I) ions. This material was tested as a disinfectant for water pathogenic microorganism's deactivation. The toxicity of MTUF before and after Ag(I) loading was estimated. The antimicrobial activity tests of MTUF-Ag were carried out against Escherichia coli, Salmonella Typhimurium, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa as examples of Gram-negative bacteria; Listeria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, and Bacillus subtilis as examples of Gram-positive bacteria; and Candida albicans as representative for fungi. The results showed that the minimum inhibitory dosage (MID) of MTF-Ag against Escherichia coli, Salmonella Typhimurium, Listeria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, and mixed culture were 1.5, 2.0, 1.0, 1.5, and 1.5 mg/mL, respectively, after 40 min of contact time. While C. albicans was more resistant to the magnetic disinfectant, only three log reductions were done at 2.5 mg/mL. The studied MTUF-Ag was successfully tested for water and wastewater pathogenic microorganism's deactivation. It can be concluded that MTUF-Ag could be a good candidate for water disinfection.

Abstract
The basic objective of this investigation is to explore potential metallo-organic antimicrobial agents based on silver-heterocyclic-2-thiones. In this respect, a series of silver(I) halide complexes with imidazolidine-2-thiones (L-NR, R=H, Me, Et, Prn, Bun, Ph), namely, mononuclear [AgX(L-NR)(PPh3)2] (X, R: Cl, Bu, 1; Br, Ph, 7); [AgX(L-NR)3] (Br, Bu, 5; Br, Prn, 8) and halogen bridged dinuclear [Ag2(μ-X)2(L-NR)2(PPh3)2] (Cl, Bun, 2; Cl, Ph, 3; Cl, Prn, 4; Br, Ph, 6) have been synthesized and characterized using modern techniques. The thio-ligands are terminally S-bonded in all the complexes. The in vitro antimicrobial potential and biosafety evaluation of the above complexes as well as that of previously reported analogous silver complexes has been studied against Gram positive bacteria, namely, Staphylococcus aureus (MTCC 740) and Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Gram negative bacteria Klebsiella pneumoniae (MTCC 109), Salmonella typhimurium (MTCC 98) and a yeast Candida albicans (MTCC 227). Most of the complexes tested have shown significant antimicrobial activity with low values of minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC). Significantly, the activity against MRSA is an important outcome of this investigation. Among complexes tested for their cytotoxicity using MTT [3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide] assay, some complexes showed low cellular toxicity with high percent cell viability. A dinuclear complex [Ag2(μ-Cl)2(L-NPh)2(PPh3)2] 3 with 93.3% cell viability emerges the most important candidate for further investigations.

Abstract
In the title compound, C14H18N2O2S, the piperidine ring has a chair conformation. Its mean plane is twisted with respect to the 4-meth-oxy-benzoyl ring, with a dihedral angle of 63.0 (3)°. The central N-C(=S)-N(H)-C(=O) bridge is twisted with an N-C-N-C torsion angle of 74.8 (6)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming chains along the c-axis direction. Adjacent chains are linked by C-H⋯π inter-actions, forming layers parallel to the ac plane. The layers are linked by offset π-π inter-actions [inter-centroid distance = 3.927 (3) Å], forming a supra-molecular three-dimensional structure.

Abstract
A new series of aspirin bearing alkylated amines moieties 1–12 were synthesised by reacting isothiocyanate with a series of aniline derivatives in overall yield of 16–56%. The proposed structures of all the synthesised compounds were confirmed using elemental analysis, FTIR, and 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. All compounds were evaluated for antibacterial activities against E. coli and S. aureus via turbidimetric kinetic and Kirby Bauer disc diffusion method. Compound 5 bearing meta -CH3 substituent showed the highest relative inhibition zone diameter against tested bacteria compared to ortho and para substituent. Furthermore, aspirin derivatives bearing shorter chains exhibited better bacterial inhibition than longer alkyl chains.

Abstract
The title complex, [AgBr(C7H7NS)(C18H15P)2], was obtained from the reaction of silver(I) bromide with benzene-carbo-thio-amide (C7H7NS) and tri-phenyl-phosphane (C18H15P) in the mixed solvent of aceto-nitrile and ethanol. The mononuclear complex exhibits a distorted tetra-hedral coordination geometry about the metal atom, arising from one S atom of a benzene-carbo-thio-amide ligand, two P atoms of two tri-phenyl-phosphane mol-ecules and one bromide ion. An intra-molecular N-H⋯Br hydrogen bond is observed and in the crystal structure, inversion dimers linked by pairs of N-H⋯Br and C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds are observed. In addition, C-H⋯π inter-actions occur, leading to [101] chains. Hirshfeld-surface analyses are presented and discussed.

Abstract
In the title compound, [Ag2(C3H6N2S)4(C18H15P)2](C2H3O2)2·[Ag(C2H3O2)(C3H6N2S)(C18H15P)2]2·2C2H3N·4H2O, the Ag(I) ion in the mononuclear neutral complex exhibits a distorted tetra-hedral environment with coordination by two P atoms from tri-phenyl-phosphane (PPh3) ligands, one S atom of an imidazolidine-2-thione (etu) ligand and one O atom of an acetate anion. The binuclear cationic complex comprises two inversion-related [Ag(C3H6N2S)2(C18H15P)] units with Ag(I) ions bridged by two S atoms from etu ligands forming a four-membered Ag-S-Ag-S ring. Each Ag(I) ion is coordinated by a P atom of a PPh3 ligand, two S atoms of bridging etu ligands and the terminal S atom of an etu ligand in a distorted tetra-hedral environment. In the crystal, the mononuclear complex is linked to lattice water mol-ecules through O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a chain along [100]. In addition, the binuclear complex mol-ecules are connected to acetate anions and lattice water mol-ecules via O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and O-H⋯S hydrogen bonds, also along [100].

Abstract
In the dinuclear title complex, [Ag2Cl2(C7H8N2S)(C25H22P2)2]·0.5CH3CN, each Ag(I) ion displays a distorted tetra-hedral coordination geometry with two P atoms from two bis-(di-phenyl-phosphan-yl)methane (dppm) ligands, one bridging chloride ion, one terminal chloride ion and one terminal S atom from the N,N'-phenyl-thio-urea (ptu) ligand. The dppm ligands and the bridging chloride ion force the two Ag atoms into close proximity, with a short Ag⋯Ag separation of 3.2064 (2) Å. In the crystal, complex mol-ecules are linked by N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds forming a dimer. The dimers are linked via weak C- H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds forming a two-dimensional supra-molecular architecture in the yz plane. In addition, an intra-molecular N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bond is observed.

Abstract
The title complex, [Ag3Br2(C25H22P2)3]Br·C7H8N2S, comprises a trinuclear [Ag3Br2(C25H22P2)3](+) unit, a Br(-) anion and one N,N'-di-methyl-thio-urea mol-ecule (ptu). Three Ag(I) ions are linked via two μ3-bridging Br atoms, leading to a distorted triangular bipyramid with an Ag⋯Ag separation range of 3.1046 (6)-3.3556 (6) Å. The triangular Ag3 arrangement is stabilized by six P atoms from three chelating bis-(di-phenyl-phosphan-yl)methane (dppm) ligands. The Ag(I) ion presents a distorted tetra-hedral coordination geometry. In the crystal, the bromide anion is connected to the ptu mol-ecule through N-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds [graph-set motif R 2 (1)(6)]. Each bromide/ptu aggregate links the complex ion via C-H⋯S and C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds, leading to the formation of a three-dimensional network. Two phenyl rings from two dppm ligands were modelled as disordered over two sites.

Abstract
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cu(NCS)(C3H8N2S)(C27H26P2)], contains two independent mononuclear complex mol-ecules. In each, the Cu(I) ion exhibits a distorted tetra-hedral geometry by coordination with two P atoms from one 1,3-bis(diphenylphosphino)propane (dppm) ligand, one terminal S atom of one N,N'-di-methyl-thio-urea (dmtu) ligand and one terminal N atom of the thio-cyanato ligand. The dppp ligand is involved in a bidentate coordination mode with the Cu(I) ion, forming a six-membered CuP2C3 ring. In both mol-ecules, the coordination of the dmtu ligand is further stabilized by an intra-molecular N-H⋯N hydrogen bond with an S(6) graph-set motif. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by N-H⋯S hydrogen bonds forming a zigzag chain along the a-axis direction. In one independent mol-ecule, one of the phenyl rings of the dppp ligand is disordered over two sites with refined occupancies 0.639 (11):0.361 (11) and this corresponds with a mutual disorder of the dmtu ligand in the other independent mol-ecule giving the same ratio of refined occupancies. The structure was refined as a two-component inversion twin.

Abstract
Three new thiourea ligands derived from the condensation of aroyl- and aryl-isothiocyanate derivatives with 2,6-diaminopyridine, named 1,1'-(pyridine-2,6-diyl)bis(3-(benzoyl)thiourea) (L1), 1,1'-(pyridine-2,6-diyl)bis(3-(2-chlorobenzoyl)thiourea) (L2) and 1,1'-(pyridine-2,6-diyl)bis(3-(4-chlorophenyl)thiourea) (L3), their oxido-vanadium(IV) complexes, namely [VO(L1('))(H2O)] (C1), [VO(L2('))(H2O)] (C2) and [VO(L3('))(H2O)] (C3), and also, dioxo-vanadium(V) complex containing 4-hydroxy-2,6-pyridine dicarboxylic acid (chelidamic acid, H2dipic-OH) and metformin (N,N-dimethylbiguanide, Met), named [H2Met][VO2(dipic-OH)]2·H2O (C4), were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, FTIR and (1)H NMR and UV-visible spectroscopies. Proposed structures for free thiourea ligands and their vanadium complexes were corroborated by applying geometry optimization and conformational analysis. Solid state structure of complex [H2Met][VO2(dipic-OH)]2·H2O (triclinic, Pī) was fully determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. In this complex, metformin is double protonated and acted as counter ion. The antibacterial properties of these compounds were investigated in vitro against standard Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial strains. The experiments showed that vanadium(IV) complexes had the superior antibacterial activities than novel thiourea derivatives and vanadium(V) complex against all Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial strains.

Abstract
In the mononuclear title complex, [Ag(C5H12N2S)(C18H15P)3](CH3COO)·CH3OH, the Ag(I) ion is in a distorted tetra-hedral coordination geometry formed by three P atoms from three tri-phenyl-phosphane ligands and one S atom from an N,N'-di-ethyl-thio-urea ligand. In the crystal, the acetate anion is connected to the complex mol-ecule via a pair of N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds [graph-set motif R (2) 2(8)] and the solvent methanol mol-ecule is connected to the anion via an O-H⋯O hydrogen bond. This aggregate is further connected through a weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bond, forming a chain along [100]. In addition, sixfold phenyl embraces with inter-molecular distances of 6.6463 (13)-6.667 (2) Å are arranged in a chain along [001]. The combination of hydrogen bonding and phen-yl⋯phenyl inter-actions leads to the formation of a two-dimensional network parallel to (010).

Abstract
In the dinuclear title compound, [Cu2I2(C3H8N2S)(C25H22P2)2]·1.5CH3CN, each CuI atom exhibits a distorted tetrahedral coordination with two P atoms from two bis(diphenylphosphanyl)methane (dppm) ligands, one metal-bridging S atom from the 1-ethylthiourea (ettu) ligand and one iodide ion. The dppm ligand and the bridging S atom of the ettu ligand force the two copper atoms into close proximity, leading to the formation of a close intramolecular Cu⋯Cu contact [3.3747 (17) Å]. The conformation of the dimeric complex is such that the two dppm ligands are located on one side of the dinuclear metal complex, while the two iodine atoms are pointed towards the other side of the complex, a conformation that is stabilized by two intramolecular N—H⋯I hydrogen bonds between the ettu NH2 and NHEt moieties and the I atoms. Another pair of symmetry-equivalent N—H⋯I hydrogen bonds is established between neighboring molecules across an inversion center, linking molecules into dimers. The dimers are connected with each other and with the interstitial acetonitrile solvent molecules via a range of weaker C—H⋯I and C—H⋯S interactions and through weak C—H⋯π interactions, leading to the formation of a three-dimensional network. One of the acetonitrile solvent molecules is disordered in a 1:1 ratio across a crystallographic inversion center.

Abstract
The dinuclear title complex, [Ag2(C6H7N2S)2(C18H15P)2], comprises two inversion-related [Ag(C6H7N2S)(C18H15P)] units. The pyrimidinethiolate anion acts both as a bridging and a chelating ligand. The AgI ions are linked via two μ2-S donor atoms, which generate a strictly planar Ag2S2 core with an Ag⋯Ag separation of 2.9569 (4) Å. The AgI ion presents a distorted tetrahedral coordination geometry. In the crystal, weak C—H⋯N and C—H⋯S hydrogen bonds link the complex molecules into a two-dimensional network parallel to (010).

Abstract
A three-component and one-pot reaction between 2,6-diaminopyridine or 1,2-diaminobenzene and ammonium thiocyanate with the subsequent addition of an aroyl chloride afforded the bis-1-(aroyl)-3-(aryl)thiourea in excellent yields. It was important to make the thiocyanate derivatives first and then to use those to prepare the thiourea derivatives.
