Abstract
The synthesis of new water-soluble N-alkylated derivatives of 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane is presented. Ru(PPh3)2Cl2 has been used to react with 1-(4-nitrobenzyl)-3,5-triaza-1-azonia-7-phosphaadamantane bromide (PTAR). By using elemental analysis, NMR, and IR spectroscopy, the obtained compounds were identified. The UV-visible absorption spectroscopy has been used to monitor the complexation of various transition metal cations. Studies on conductivity have been utilized to validate the complexes' stoichiometries. Using the disc diffusion method, five bacteria strains were used for the study of the antimicrobial activity of compounds 1-3. All tested pathogens, including M luteus LB 141107, were found to have strong biologic activity against the compounds tested in this study. Additionally, DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) has been tested for its ability to scavenge hydrogen peroxide and free radicals. According to our results, these compounds exhibit excellent radical scavenging properties.

Abstract
AbstractThe synthesis of hexa- and dodecapeptides functionalized with two Au(I)–phosphine complexes is reported. The high stability of the Au(I)–phosphine bond allowed orthogonal peptide-protecting-group chemistry, even when using hard Lewis acids like boron tribromide. This enabled the preparation of an Fmoc-protected lysine derivative carrying the Au(I) complex in a side chain, which was used in standard Fmoc-based solid-phase peptide synthesis protocols. Alanine and leucine repeats in the metallododecapeptide formed α-helical secondary structures in 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol–H2O and 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropanol–H2O mixtures with high thermal stability, as shown by temperature-dependent CD spectroscopy studies.

Abstract
New stable thiolate gold(I) derivatives containing the alkylated phosphanes [PTA-CH2Ph]Br and [PTA-CH2COOMe]Br derived from 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane (PTA) have been prepared by different routes of synthesis. By the use of basic media to deprotonate the corresponding thiol in the former and by transmetallation reactions from tin (IV) complexes, in the later, thus avoiding side reactions on the phosphane. Strong antiproliferative effects are observed for most of the compounds, including the chloro- and bromo precursors with the series of phosphanes derived from PTA, in human colon cancer cell lines (Caco-2, PD7 and TC7 clones). Apoptosis-induced cell death is found for all compounds, being the thiolate derivatives with [PTA-CH2Ph]Br the most effective, as shown by an annexin-V/propidium iodide double-staining assay.
