Abstract
This study presents a tetra-substituted phthalonitrile derivative, namely, diethyl 2-(3,4-dicyano-2,5-bis(hexyloxy)-6-(4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenoxy)phenyl)malonate (a), cyclotetramerizing in the presence of some metal salts. The resultant hexadeca-substituted metal phthalocyanines [M= Co, Zn, InCl)] (b-d) were used for the modification of reduced graphene oxide for the first time. The effect of the phthalonitrile/metal phthalocyanines on biological features of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) was extensively examined by the investigation of antioxidant, antimicrobial, DNA cleavage, cell viability, and antibiofilm activities of nanobioagents (1-4). The results were compared with those of unmodified rGO (nanobioagent 5), as well. Modification of reduced graphene oxide with the synthesized compounds improved its antioxidant activity. The antioxidant activities of all the tested nanobioagents also enhanced as the concentration increased. The antibacterial activities of all the nanobioagents improved by applying the photodynamic therapeutic (PDT) method. All the phthalonitrile/phthalocyanine-based nanobioagents (especially phthalocyanine-based nanocomposites) exhibited DNA cleavage activities, and complete DNA fragmentation was observed for nanobioagents (1-4) at 200 mg/L. They can be used as potent antimicrobial and antimicrobial photodynamic therapy agents as well as Escherichia coli microbial cell inhibitors. As a result, the prepared nanocomposites can be considered promising candidates for biomedicine.

Abstract
Spin-polarized electrons can improve the efficiency and selectivity of photo- and electro-catalytic reactions, as demonstrated in the past with magnetic or magnetized catalysts. Here, we present a scheme in which spin-polarized charge separation occurs at the interfaces of nonmagnetic semiconductors and molecular films in the absence of a magnetic field. We take advantage of the spin-valley-locked band structure and valley-dependent optical selection rule in group VI transition metal dichalcogenide (TMDC) monolayers to generate spin-polarized electron-hole pairs. Photoinduced electron transfer from WS2 to fullerene (C60) and hole transfer from MoSe2 to phthalocyanine (H2Pc) are found to result in spin polarization lifetimes that are 1 order of magnitude longer than those in the TMDC monolayers alone. Our findings connect valleytronic properties of TMDC monolayers to spin-polarized interfacial charge transfer and suggest a viable route toward spin-selective photocatalysis.

Abstract
In this study, novel tetrasubstituted metallo- and metal-free phthalocyanines containing 7-hydroxy-4′-methoxyisoflavonoxy moieties at peripheral and non-peripheral positions have been prepared by cyclotetramerization of corresponding phthalonitriles. The most obvious feature of these quaternized complexes is their extensive solubility and non-aggregated species (especially non-peripherally substituted) in organic solvents such as chloroform, tetrahydrofuran, dimethylformamide and dimethylsulfoxide, which makes them candidates for use in many applications in different fields. The new compounds have been characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, UV-vis, 1H and [Formula: see text]C NMR and MS (Maldi-TOF MS). Voltammetric and in situ spectroelectrochemical measurements have been performed with the aim of characterizing the electron transfer properties of the compounds on Pt in dimethylsulfoxide/tetrabutylammonium perchlorate, compared to those of previously reported corresponding compounds with tetra 6-hydroxyflavonoxy substituents. The effect of aggregation on the redox character of these complexes was also discussed.

Abstract
The molecular structure of the substituted phthalonitrile was analyzed crystallographically and compared with optimized geometric structure. The structural properties of the compound such as energy, vibrational frequency, ground state transitions, (1)H and (13)C NMR chemical shifts, NBO analysis and hyperpolarizability were computed by DFT (Density Functional Theory) method and compared with experimental results. The novel Mg(II) and Sn(II) phthalocyanines synthesized from the substituted phthalonitrile and their aggregation behaviors were investigated in different solvents and at different concentrations in DMSO.

Abstract
The reaction of 4-(2′,3′,4′,5′,6′-pentafluorobenzyloxy)phthalonitrile with 2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5-octafluoropentanol leads to the formation of 4-[2′,3′,5′,6′-tetrafluoro-4′-(octafluoropentoxy) benzyloxy]-phthalonitrile. The reaction was achieved by regioselective substitution reaction of the p-fluorine atoms of pentafluorobenzyloxy group by perfluoroalkoxy group. The tetramerization of the new dinitrile derivative in the presence of zinc, cobalt, copper or manganese salts results in the corresponding phthalocyanines. The prepared compounds have been characterized by elemental analyses, FT-IR, UV-vis, 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR, 19 F NMR and mass spectroscopies, consistent with the proposed structures. The influence of solvent and concentrations on the aggregation of the phthalocyanine complexes was studied by electronic spectroscopy.
