Abstract
Two novel complexes, [(C7H10NO2)CdCl3]n(I) and [(C7H9NO2)CuCl2],havebeen synthesized and characterized. Single crystal X-ray diffraction revealed that in compound (I), 2,6-dimethanol pyridinium acts as a monodentate ligand through the O atom of the hydroxyl group. Contrarily, the 2,6-dimethanol pyridine ligand interacts tridentately with the Cu(II) ion via the nitrogen atoms and the two oxygen (O, O’) atoms of the two hydroxyl groups. The structure’s intermolecular interactions were studied using contact enrichment ratios and Hirshfeld surfaces. Following metal coordination, numerous hydrogen connections between entities and parallel displacement stacking interactions between pyridine rings dictate the crystal packing of both compounds. The aromatic cycles generate layers in the crystal for both substances. Powder XRD measurements confirmed the crystalline sample phase purity. SEM confirmed the surface homogeneity, whereas EDX semi-quantitative analysis corroborated the composition. IR spectroscopy identified vibrational absorption bands, while optical UV-visible absorption spectroscopy investigated optical properties. The thermal stability of the two materials was tested using TG-DTA.

Abstract
The impetus to modeling of enzyme mimics comes from their potential to provide insight to the alternate mechanistic pathways of the native enzymes. The present study demonstrates the syntheses and characterization of two different cobalt(II) complexes, [Co(pdm)(Phen)Cl]Cl·H2O (1) and [Co(pmmH)2(SCN)2] (2) with the aminoalcohol ligands such as pyridine-2,6-dimethanol (pdmH2) or 2-pyridinemonomethanol (pmmH) and their assessment as catechol oxidase (CO) enzyme mimic. Single Crystal X-ray diffraction and powder X-ray diffraction data suggest the octahedral environment around the Co(II) ion and the complexes form extensive 1D or 2D propagating network as a result of non-covalent interactions (O···H and C-H···π). TD-DFT calculations were used to explain the spectral bands obtained during the UV-Vis absorption studies and it is ascertained that the transitions were mainly of the intra-ligand charge transfer (ILCT) type. The catecholase biomimetic catalytic activity of the synthesized complexes has been investigated in detail and the kinetics is also performed. The results obtained show that both the complexes catalyze the aerobic oxidation of catechol to the corresponding o-quinone. The Kcat value for 1 is 106.99 h‒1 and for 2 is 90.32 h‒1 in methanol. It may be mentioned here that 1 and 2 are effective catalysts, with the order of activity being 1 > 2. The order of enzymatic activity is well justified by CV and DFT studies.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. Sarma.

Reactivity of Coordinated 2-Pyridyl Oximes: Synthesis, Structure, Spectroscopic Characterization and Theoretical Studies of Dichlorodi{(2-Pyridyl)Furoxan}Zinc(II) Obtained from the Reaction between Zinc(II) Nitrate and Pyridine-2-Chloroxime. Abstract
This work reports our first results in the area of the reactivity of coordinated chloroximes. The 1:2:2:2 Zn(NO3)2∙6H2O/Eu(NO3)3∙6H2O/ClpaoH/Et3N reaction mixture in MeOH, where ClpaoH is pyridine-2-chloroxime, resulted in complex [ZnCl2(L)] (1); L is the di(2-pyridyl)furoxan [3,4-di(2-pyridyl)-1,2,5-oxadiazole-2-oxide] ligand. The same complex can be isolated in the absence of the lanthanoid. The direct reaction of ZnCl2 and pre-synthesized L in MeOH also provides access to 1. In the tetrahedral complex, L behaves as a Npyridyl,N′pyridyl-bidentate ligand, forming an unusual seven-membered chelating ring. The Hirshfeld Surface analysis of the crystal structure reveals a multitude of intermolecular interactions, which generate an interesting 3D architecture. The complex has been characterized by FTIR and Raman spectroscopies. The structure of 1 is not retained in DMSO (dimethylsulfoxide) solution, as proven by NMR (1H, 13C, 15N) spectroscopy and its molar conductivity value. Upon excitation at 375 nm, solid 1 emits blue light with a maximum at 452 nm; the emission is of an intraligand character. The geometric and energetic profiles of possible pathways involved in the reaction of ClpaoH and Zn(NO3)2∙6H2O in MeOH in the presence of Et3N has been investigated by DFT (Density Functional Theory) computational methodologies at the PBE0/Def2-TZVP(Cr)∪6-31G(d,p)(E)/Polarizable Continuum Model (PCM) level of theory. This study reveals an unprecedented cross-coupling reaction between two coordinated 2-pyridyl nitrile oxide ligands.
