Synthesis, characterization and dielectric properties of novel axial coumarin-substituted titanium(IV) phthalocyanines

Electrical and gas sensing properties of novel cobalt(II), copper(II), manganese(III) phthalocyanines carrying ethyl 7-oxy-4,8-dimethylcoumarin-3-propanoate moieties

The synthesis of metallophthalocyanines (M [Formula: see text] Co, Cu, Mn) bearing four ethyl 7-oxy-4,8-dimethylcoumarin-3-propanoate moieties was performed. These novel compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, [Formula: see text]H-NMR spectroscopy, FT-IR, UV-vis and mass spectral data. DC and AC electrical properties of the films of metallophthalocyanines were investigated in the temperature range of 295–523 K. AC measurements were performed in the frequency range of 40–10[Formula: see text] Hz. Activation energy values of the films took place between 0.55 eV–0.93 eV. Impedance spectroscopy measurements revealed that bulk resistance decreases with increasing temperature, indicating semiconductor properties. DC conductivity results also supported this result. Their gas sensing properties were also investigated for the vapors of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), [Formula: see text]-butyl acetate (200–3200 ppm) and ammonia (7000–56000 ppm) between temperatures 25–100°C. Sensitivity and response times of the films for the tested vapors were reported. The results were found to be reversible and sensitive to the vapors of [Formula: see text]-butyl acetate and ammonia. It was found that Mn(OAc)Pc showed better sensitivity than CoPc and CuPc for [Formula: see text]-butyl acetate vapors at all measured vapor concentrations and temperatures. Mn(OAc)Pc also showed better sensitivity than CoPc and CuPc for ammonia vapors at 22°C.

Coumarin-Tetrapyrrolic Macrocycle Conjugates: Synthesis and Applications

This review covers the synthesis of coumarin-porphyrin, coumarin-phthalocyanine and coumarin-corrole conjugates and their potential applications. While coumarin-phthalocyanine conjugates were obtained almost exclusively by tetramerization of coumarin-functionalized phthalonitriles, coumarin-porphyrin and coumarin-corrole conjugates were prepared by complementary approaches: (a) direct synthesis of the tetrapyrrolic macrocycle using formylcoumarins and pyrrole or (b) by functionalization of the tetrapyrrolic macrocycle. In the last approach a range of reaction types were used, namely 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions, hetero-Diels-Alder, Sonogashira, alkylation or acylation reactions. This is clearly a more versatile approach, leading to a larger diversity of conjugates and allowing the access to conjugates bearing one to up to 16 coumarin units.

DBU-Catalysed Synthesis of Metal-Free Phthalocyanines and Metallophthalocyanines Containing 2(3,4-Dimethoxyphenyl)Ethanol and 4-Hydroxybenzaldehyde Groups: Characterisation, Antimicrobial Properties and Aggregation Behaviour

The synthesis, characterisation, and spectral and antimicrobial properties of novel peripherally tetra-substituted metal-free phthalocyanines and metallophthalocyanines bearing four 2(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)ethanol or 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde substituents is reported. The aggregation behaviour of these compounds was investigated in different concentrations of DMSO. The compounds exhibited antimicrobial activity against test microorganisms.

One-pot three-component Biginelli-type reaction to synthesize 3,4-dihydropyrimidine-2-(1H)-ones catalyzed by Co phthalocyanines: Synthesis, characterization, aggregation behavior and antibacterial activity

The synthesis of a novel phthalonitrile derivative with pyridine-2-thiol and 2,4,6-trimethylphenylamine substituents functionalized groups and its peripherally tetrasubstituted cobalt phthalocyanine and cationic phthalocyanines complexes were reported. The aggregation investigations carried out in different concentrations indicate that Co Phthalocyanines compounds 3,4 do not have any aggregation behavior for the concentration range of 6×10(-4)-14×10(-6)M in DMSO. The ion binding properties of Co Phthalocyanines compounds 3,4 show the formation of stable complex with Co(2+). In addition 3,4-Dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-one derivatives were synthesized by modified Biginelli cyclocondensation reaction catalyzed by MPc as Lewis base. The structures of the synthesized compounds have been successfully characterized by the spectroscopic methods (IR, (1)H NMR, (13C)NMR, UV-Vis, mass spectrometry, elemental analysis and NMR 2D). The influence of substrate/catalyst ratio, solvent was also investigated to find optimal reaction on this synthesis for getting the highest conversion. Different parameters were examined for finding optimal conditions of catalysis. In addition; the compounds 3-11 were investigated for antimicrobial activity. Most of them exhibited important antimicrobial activity.

Novel Nonmetalated Hydrophobic and Metalated Phthalocyanines Bearing Pyridine-2-Thiol and 2,4,6-Trimethylphenylamine Substituents: Synthesis, Spectroscopic, Aggregation and Thermal Properties

Novel metal–free and metallo-phthalocyanines, with different substituents at peripheral positions, have been synthesised by cyclotetramerisation of 4-(2,4,6-trimethylphenylamino)phthalonitrile and 4-(pyridine-2-ylsulfanyl)phthalonitrile in the presence of the corresponding divalent metal salts [Zn(II), Cu(II), Co(II) and Ni(II)]. Quaternisation of the metallophthalocyanine functionality produced quaternised cationic Zn, Cu, Ni and Co phthalocyanines, which are soluble in DMF, H2O and DMSO. The aggregation behaviour of these compounds was investigated in different concentrations of DMSO. Their thermal stability and electronic stability are reported.
