Polymer Supported Nitrogen-Bridged Symmetrical Binuclear Dioxidomolybdenum(VI) Complexes and Their Homogeneous Analogues as Potential Catalysts for Efficient Synthesis of 2-Amino-3-Cyano-4H-Chromenes/Pyrans. [PMID: 38491788 DOI: 10.1002/chem.202400631] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Grants] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 02/16/2024] [Revised: 03/15/2024] [Accepted: 03/15/2024] [Indexed: 03/18/2024]
Abstract
Reaction of 2-chloromethyl-1H-benzimidazole with known intermediates (i-iii), prepared from diaminoguanidine hydrochloride with salicylaldehyde, 5-bromosalicylaldehyde or 3,5-di-tert-butylsalicylaldehyde, in the presence of triethylamine (NEt3) led to the formation of benzimidazole appended new ligands, H4L1-H4L3 (I-III). The homogeneous nitrogen-bridged symmetrical binuclear complexes, [(MoVIO2)2(L1)(H2O)2] (1), [(MoVIO2)2(L2)(H2O)2] (2) and [(MoVIO2)2(L3)(MeOH)2] (3) have been isolated by reacting these ligands with [MoVIO2(acac)2] in a 1 : 2 molar ratio in refluxing methanol. Using 1 : 1 (ligand to Mo precursor) molar ratio under above reaction conditions resulted in the corresponding mononuclear complexes, [MoVIO2(H2L1)(MeOH)] (4), [MoVIO2(H2L2)(H2O)] (5) and [MoVIO2(H2L3)(MeOH)] (6). The binuclear heterogeneous compounds [(MoVIO2)2(L1)(DMF)2]@PS (PS-1), [(MoVIO2)2(L2)(DMF)2]@PS (PS-2) and [(MoVIO2)2(L3)(DMF)2]@PS (PS-3) have been obtained by immobilization of 1-3 onto chloromethylated polystyrene (PS) beads. All synthesized ligands, homogeneous as well as supported compounds have been characterized by elemental analyses and various spectroscopic methods. Single crystal X-ray diffraction study of complexes 1 and 3 confirms their nitrogen-bridged symmetrical binuclear structures while 4 is mononuclear. Heterogeneous compounds (PS-1-PS-3) have further been studied by microwave plasma atomic emission spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and field emission scanning electron microscopy along with energy dispersive spectroscopy. These compounds (homogeneous and heterogeneous) were explored for catalytic applications to one-pot multicomponent reactions (MCRs) for efficient synthesis of biologically active 2-amino-3-cyano-4H-chromenes/pyrans (21 examples). Optimising various reaction parameters helped in achieving as high as 97 % yields of products. Though, only half equivalent of the binuclear complexes (1-3) was required compared to mononuclear analogues (4-6) to achieve comparable yields, heterogeneous catalysts have an added advantage due to their stability and recyclability. Suitable reaction mechanism has also been proposed based on isolated intermediates.

Abstract
Catalysis of cross-coupling reactions under phosphane-free conditions represents an important ongoing challenge. Although transition metal complexes based on the thiosemicarbazone unit have been known for a very long time, their use in homogeneous catalysis has been studied only relatively recently. In particular, reports of cross-coupling catalytic reactions with such complexes have appeared only in the last 15 years. This review provides a survey of the research in this area and a discussion of the prospects for future developments.

Abstract
The syntheses of a new set of metal complexes MoO2L′(CH3OH), VOL′(CH3O)(CH3OH), , , SnL′Cl2 and SnL′I2 with a new ligand (L = (2,2′(disulfanediylbis((ethylthio)methylene)bis(hydrazin-2-yl-1-ylidene)bis(methanylylidene)) diphenol; L′ = S-ethyl-3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)methylenedithiocarbazate are described along with characterization by elemental analysis, mass spectrometry, spectroscopic (IR, 1H- and 13C-NMR) and TGA techniques. The crystal structures of compounds were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and compared to powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) patterns of the nano complexes obtained using ultrasonic methods. The PXRD results indicate that the compounds synthesized by ultrasonic methods have high crystallinity. The compounds were evaluated in an in vitro cytotoxicity study with two human cancer cell lines. The results of this study revealed that all complexes exhibit good cytotoxic activity when compared to the clinical drug, cisplatin. Interaction of the samples with human serum albumin (HSA) was investigated using fluorescence spectrophotometric methods and the Stern–Volmer quenching constant (KSV) and free energy changes (ΔG) were calculated at 298 K. The fluorescence quenching method is used to determine the number of binding sites (n) and association constants (Ka) at the same temperatures. New metal complexes are synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, mass spectrometry, spectroscopic, TGA and X-ray techniques. The compounds were evaluated in an in vitro cytotoxicity. Interaction of the samples with HSA was investigated.![]()

Abstract
In continuation of our previous work, a series of furan-thiazolidinone hybrids was prepared by Knoevenagel condensation of 3-(furan-2-ylmethyl)-2-(phenylimino)-1, 3-thiazolidin-4-one with different aryl aldehydes in presence of strong base. Some members of the series exhibited remarkable antiamoebic activity and cell viability. Three compounds (3, 6 and 11) showed excellent binding energy for Entamoeba histolytica O-acetyle-l-serine sulfohydrolase and Entamoeba histolytica thioredoxin reductase. These compounds demonstrated significant inhibition of O-acetyle-l-serine sulfohydrolase. The promising antiamoebic activity and enzymatic assay of 3, 6 and 11 make them promising molecules for further lead optimization in the development of novel antiamoebic agents.

Abstract
A series of chalcones (4-21) possessing N-substituted ethanamine were synthesized by the aldol condensation reaction of 1-(4-(2-substituted ethoxy)phenyl)ethanones with different aldehydes preceded by the reaction of 2-chloro N-substituted ethanamine hydrochloride and 4-hydroxy acetophenone. The structure of all the synthesized compounds was elucidated by various spectral and X-ray diffraction studies. The compounds were screened against HM1: IMSS strain of Entamoeba histolytica and cytotoxicity was performed on A549 (non-small cell lung cancer cell line) cells by MTT assay. Out of eighteen compounds twelve showed better activity then the standard drug metronidazole. The compound 9, 14 and 19 showed good cell viability, hence were least toxic.
