Coordination polymers fabricated from Cd(NO3)2 and N,N′,O-pincer-type isonicotinoylhydrazone-based polytopic ligands – an insight from experimental and theoretical investigations

Three new Cd(ii) coordination polymers based on isonicotinohydrazide ligands (HLI, HLII) differing in the presence of a methyl unit have been obtained and extensively characterized by experimental and computational approaches.

Supramolecular lead(ii) architectures engineered by tetrel bonds

The structures, including tetrel bonding, of Pb^II coordination compounds assembled from N′-(pyridin-2-ylmethylene)picolinohydrazide, N′-(pyridin-2-ylmethylene)nicotinohydrazide and N′-(1-(pyridin-2-yl)ethylidene)isonicotinohydrazide ligands are discussed.

Crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of di-iodido-{N'-[(E)-(phen-yl)(pyridin-2-yl-κN)methylidene]pyridine-2-carbohydrazide-κ2 N',O}cadmium(II)

In each of the two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, [CdI2(C18H14N4O)], the N,O,N'-tridentate N'-[(E)-(phen-yl)(pyridin-2-yl-κN)methyl-idene]pyridine-2-carbohydrazide ligand and two iodide anions form an I2N2O penta-coordination sphere, with a distorted square-pyramidal geometry, with an I atom in the apical position. Both mol-ecules feature an intra-molecular N-H⋯N hydrogen bond. In the crystal, weak aromatic π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid separation = 3.830 (2) Å] link the mol-ecules into dimers.

Supramolecular Assemblies in Pb(II) Complexes with Hydrazido-Based Ligands

Herein, we describe the synthesis and single crystal X-ray diffraction characterization of several Pb(II) complexes using Schiff base hydrazido-based ligands and different counterions (NO3−, I– and ClO4). In the three complexes reported in this work, the lead(II) metal exhibits a high coordination number (n > 8) and thus it is apparently not involved in tetrel bonding interactions. Moreover, the aromatic ligands participate in noncovalent interactions that play an important role in the formation of several supramolecular assemblies in the solid state of the three Pb(II) complexes. These assemblies have been analyzed by means of Hirshfeld surface analysis and DFT calculations.
