Abstract
The ligand, N'-(furan-2-ylmethylene)-2-hydroxybenzohydrazide (H2L), was synthesized characterized through various spectral studies which cleared out that the free ligand existed in keto form. The ligand upon reaction with Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) acetates yielded complexes with stoichiometric ratio 1:2 (M:L) which has been validated through the elemental and mass spectral measurements. The IR and NMR spectral studies of the isolated complexes disclosed that the ligand chelated to metal ion in mononegative bidentate fashion via the azomethine nitrogen and deprotonated enolized carbonyl oxygen. Moreover, the DFT quantum chemical calculations designated that the ligand and Ni(II) complex exhibited the highest and lowest values of HOMO, LUMO energies and HOMO-LUMO energy gap, respectively. Furthermore, the in vitro cytotoxic activity towards HePG-2 and HCT-116 cell lines of the isolated compounds was investigated and the data cleared out that the ligand was more potent than the metal complexes.

Abstract
In this work, new thiosemicarbazides (ECA-1, ECA-2) and their Cu (II) complexes (ECA-1-Cu, ECA-2-Cu) were synthesized and their structures were characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FT-IR, LC-MS, UV-Vis, and thermogravimetric analysis methods. Also, the surface morphology of the all compounds were examined by SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope). In the second stage, in vitro antioxidant capacity of the obtained compounds was investigated. The evaluation of the antioxidant properties of both synthesized ligands and complexes in this study was carried out by DPPH and FRAP methods. According to the results, both complexes exhibited more antioxidant capacity than the corresponding ligands. When antioxidant effects are compared for DPPH (SC50 = 5.27 ± 0.05 μM) and for FRAP (7845.69 ± 16.75 mmolTE/g), compound ECA-2-Cu appears to have the best inhibition effect. The complexes were found non-electrolytic in nature with melting point of above 250 °C, and electronic spectra and magnetic behavior demonstrated that the complexes were found to be tetrahedral geometry. Further, in silico the ADMET properties which studies are a significant role in improving and predicting drug compounds were calculated using web-based platforms. The theoretical calculations were made using the method of Density Functional Theory (Frontier molecular orbital analyze and Nonlinear optical properties). Also, molecular docking studies were performed to evaluate the binding interactions between the ligand and complex compounds and Human Peroxiredoxin 2. Both in vitro and in silico results indicated that synthesized compounds could act as potent antioxidant agents.

Abstract
The newly synthesized Schiff's base derivative, N-allyl-2-(2-oxoacenaphthylen-1(2H)-ylidene)hydrazine-1-carbothioamide, has been characterized by different spectral techniques. Its reaction with Co(II), Ni(II), and Zn(II) acetate led to the formation of 1 : 1 (M:L) complexes. The IR and NMR spectral data revealed keto-thione form for the free ligand. On chelation with Co(II) and Ni(II), it behaved as mononegative and neutral tridentate via O, N1, and S donors, respectively, while it showed neutral bidentate mode via O and N1 atoms with Zn(II). The electronic spectra indicated that all the isolated complexes have an octahedral structure. The thermal gravimetric analyses confirmed the suggested formula and the presence of coordinated water molecules. The XRD pattern of the metal complexes showed that both Co(II) and Ni(II) have amorphous nature, while Zn(II) complex has monoclinic crystallinity with an average size of 9.10 nm. DFT modeling of the ligand and complexes supported the proposed structures. The calculated HOMO-LUMO energy gap, ΔEH-L, of the ligand complexes was 1.96–2.49 eV range where HAAT < Zn(II) < Ni(II) < Co(II). The antioxidant activity investigation showed that the ligand and Zn(II) complex have high activity than other complexes, 88.5 and 88.6%, respectively. Accordingly, the antitumor activity of isolated compounds was examined against the hepatocellular carcinoma cell line (HepG2), where both HAAT and Zn(II) complex exhibited very strong activity, IC50 6.45 ± 0.25 and 6.39 ± 0.18 μM, respectively.

Abstract
Ion sensor properties of the carboxamide and carbothioamide compounds carrying 4-quinolone group were investigated by means of emission spectrometry in methanol-water (1:1). The compounds were selectively complexed with Cu2+, Pd2+, and Fe3+ among many metal ions. The complex stoichiometry and the stability constant were determined by fluorimetric measurements. The carboxamide compound having phenyl group (QPO) showed sensitivity for Fe3+ ion with a linear range between 0.1 and 0.7 mg/L. The new method was applied in the determination of iron in the spiked tap water samples and the sandy-soil reference material. A modified standard addition method was used to remove the matrix effect. Limit of detection was 0.03 mg/L for the Fe3+ determination method. The carboxamide compound with benzyl group (QBO) showed sensitivity for Cu2+ ion with linear range 0-0.4 mg/L. There was no matrix effect for copper determination in the spiked tap water samples. The detection limit of the method for Cu2+ ion was 0.05 mg/L. The quantification limits of the methods were low enough to determine iron and copper amount in drinking water samples according to EPA.

Abstract
2-(3-Ethylthioureido)benzoic acid was prepared and characterized by electronic spectrum, elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum and mass spectrum. The produced ligand was applied for the preconcentrative of Fe3+, Co2+, Cu2+ and Zn2+ in aqueous samples by cloud point extraction methodology. Triton X-114 was used as extractant. Experimental parameters that may affect the extraction process were examined and optimized; such as pH, ligand and triton concentrations, type of diluting solvent, extraction temperature and ionic strength. The calibration curves were linear upto 500μgL-1 for Fe3+, Cu2+ and Zn2+ and upto 200μgL-1 for Co2+. The achieved detection limits were 1.5, 0.23, 0.71 and 0.35μgL-1 for Fe3+, Co2+, Cu2+ and Zn2+ respectively. The accuracy was established by analysis of certified reference materials (Seronorm whole blood L2 and ZCS ZC85006 Tomato). The proposed procedure was used for preconcentration of these metal ions in water, biological and food samples prior to their determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry.
