Abstract
A new series of cationic ruthenium(II) complexes, [RuCl(PPh3)2(κ3-NNN-L1)]Cl (1), [RuH(PPh3)2(κ3-NNN-L2)]Cl (2), and [RuH(PPh3)2(κ3-NNN-L3)]Cl (3), bearing a 2,6-bis (1-R-5-methyl-pyrazol-3-yl) pyridine ligand (L1: R = H, L2: R = C6H4-p-CF3, L3: R = C6H4-p-OCH3), were synthesized and characterized with NMR, HRMS, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Their catalytic application was investigated in the acceptorless dehydrogenation (AD) of primary alcohols. Complex 1 outperformed 2 and 3 in terms of the selectivity towards the aldehydes, and provided the aldehydes with a yield of up to 99%, with good functional group tolerance under mild conditions. In addition, the only by-product of the reaction was dihydrogen, which can be collected as clean energy, and the reaction meets the requirements of environment-friendly chemistry. Complex 1 also proved to be a promising catalyst in the sequential AD/condensation reaction between the primary and secondary alcohols, affording α,β-unsaturated ketones in moderate to good selectivity.

Abstract
Protic pyrazoles (N-unsubstituted pyrazoles) have been versatile ligands in various fields, such as materials chemistry and homogeneous catalysis, owing to their proton-responsive nature. This review provides an overview of the reactivities of protic pyrazole complexes. The coordination chemistry of pincer-type 2,6-bis(1H-pyrazol-3-yl)pyridines is first surveyed as a class of compounds for which significant advances have made in the last decade. The stoichiometric reactivities of protic pyrazole complexes with inorganic nitrogenous compounds are then described, which possibly relates to the inorganic nitrogen cycle in nature. The last part of this article is devoted to outlining the catalytic application of protic pyrazole complexes, emphasizing the mechanistic aspect. The role of the NH group in the protic pyrazole ligand and resulting metal-ligand cooperation in these transformations are discussed.

Abstract
Two pentadentate N3,P2 ligands coordinate zinc(ii) by their N3 pocket. Four free phosphine donors allow the coordination of four AuCl moieties leading to a pentanuclear ZnAu4 complex. In contrast, the attempt to use the phosphines for chelating coordination of two Rh(CO)Cl units results in a well-organized rearrangement that ends up with the formation of a metallomacrocycle in high yields.

Abstract
Redox-active ligands bring electron- and proton-transfer reactions to main-group coordination chemistry. In this Forum Article, we demonstrate how ligand pKa values can be used in the design of a reaction mechanism for a ligand-based electron- and proton-transfer pathway, where the ligand retains a negative charge and enables dihydrogen evolution. A bis(pyrazolyl)pyridine ligand, iPrPz2P, reacts with 2 equiv of AlCl3 to afford [(iPrPz2P)AlCl2(THF)][AlCl4] (1). A reaction involving two-electron reduction and single-ligand protonation of 1 affords [(iPrHPz2P-)AlCl2] (2), where each of the electron- and proton-transfer events is ligand-centered. Protonation of 2 would formally close a catalytic cycle for dihydrogen production. At -1.26 V versus SCE, in a 0.3 M Bu4NPF6/tetrahydrofuran solution with salicylic acid or (HNEt3)+ as the source of H+, 1 produced dihydrogen electrocatalytically, according to cyclic voltammetry and controlled potential electrolysis experiments. The mechanism for the reaction is most likely two electron-transfer steps followed by two chemical steps based on the available reactivity information. A comparison of this work with our previously reported aluminum complexes of the phenyl-substituted bis(imino)pyridine system (PhI2P) reveals that the pKa values of the N-donor atoms in iPrPz2P are lower, which facilitates reduction before ligand protonation. In contrast, the PhI2P ligand complexes of aluminum are protonated twice before reduction liberates dihydrogen.
