Synthesis and characterization of (π-allyl)palladium(II) complexes containing dialkylbiaryl phosphine ligands

Chemoselective hydrogenation of aromatic nitro compounds in the presence of homogeneous Pd based catalysts

The chemoselective reduction of aromatic nitro compounds to amine derivatives was easily performed with remarkable yields under ultrasonic conditions in a H₂O/MeOH mixture (v/v = 1/4). In this process, commercially available BINAP.PdCl₂ and NaBH₄ were used as homogenous catalysts and the hydrogen source, respectively. The developed method has a high economic value and can be adapted to the industry. A variety of nitroarene derivatives were reacted by undergoing the BINAP.PdCl₂ catalyzed reduction reaction. All nitroarenes were selectively hydrogenated to aromatic primary amines with quantitative yields in 15 min. The obtained primary amines were determined by ¹H and ¹³C nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.

A General and Selective Synthesis of Methylmonochlorosilanes from Di-, Tri-, and Tetrachlorosilanes

Direct catalytic transformation of chlorosilanes into organosilicon compounds remains challenging due to difficulty in cleaving the strong Si-Cl bond(s). We herein report the palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction of chlorosilanes with organoaluminum reagents. A combination of [Pd(C₃H₅)Cl]₂ and DavePhos ligand catalyzed the selective methylation of various dichlorosilanes 1, trichlorosilanes 5, and tetrachlorosilane 6 to give the corresponding monochlorosilanes.

Palladium-catalyzed Tsuji-Trost-type reaction of benzofuran-2-ylmethyl acetates with nucleophiles

The palladium-catalyzed benzylic-like nucleophilic substitution of benzofuran-2-ylmethyl acetate with N, S, O and C soft nucleophiles has been investigated. The success of the reaction is dramatically influenced by the choice of catalytic system: with nitrogen based nucleophiles the reaction works well with Pd2(dba)3/dppf, while with sulfur, oxygen and carbo-nucleophiles [Pd(η3-C3H5)Cl]2/XPhos is more efficient. The regiochemical outcome shows that the nucleophilic substitution occurs only on the benzylic position of the η3-(benzofuryl)methyl complex. The high to excellent yields and the simplicity of the experimental procedure make this protocol a versatile synthetic tool for the preparation of 2-substituted benzo[b]furans.
