Abstract
With the increasing development of metallopharmaceuticals, coordination compounds become viable alternatives for therapeutic uses. Despite the importance of platinum derivatives in this area, first-row transition metals complexes are welcome due to their characteristics. Vanadium is a promising metal in this context, as it has a range of compounds with different biological applications, including anticancer therapeutic effects. In this effort, the study of interactions between coordination compounds with deoxyribonucleic acid and with human serum albumin is fundamental. In this way, ten iminic ligands were synthesized by condensing p-substituted aromatic benzohydrazides (OH, CH3, H, NO2, and NH2) with salicylaldehyde (L1As-L5As) or pyridoxal hydrochloride (L1P-L5P). These ligands have characteristics that allow the tridentate coordination of vanadium cations, leading to the formation of ten vanadium(V) complexes (C1As-C5As and C1P-C5P) with different structural features, all characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, UV-Vis and infrared spectroscopies, and cyclic voltammetry. In addition, the complexes were tested for their interactions with calf thymus deoxyribonucleic acid and human serum albumin by spectroscopic assays and molecular docking calculations. These new results can contribute to further research and provide different ways to design new vanadium complexes with biological applications.

Abstract
A Schiff base ligand HL, (E)-2-((adamantan-1-ylimino)methyl)-6-allylphenol, was synthesized by condensation of amantadine with 3-allyl-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde, followed by the synthesis of its Zn(ii), Co(ii), Cr(iii), and VO(iv) complexes under reflux conditions. The synthesized compounds were comprehensively elucidated by using different spectroscopic and analytical techniques: UV-Vis, 1H and 13C-NMR, FT-IR, ESI-MS, thermal, and single-crystal XRD analysis. The chemical composition of the synthesized compounds was also verified by molar conductance and elemental analysis. An octahedral geometry for Cr(iii) and Co(ii) complexes, tetrahedral for Zn(ii) complex, and square pyramidal geometry have been proposed for VO(iv) complexes. The antidiabetic activities of the synthesized compounds were also evaluated by performing in vitro α-amylase and α-glucosidase inhibition studies. The Co(ii) complex exhibited the highest α-glucosidase inhibitory activity, whereas oxovanadium(iv) and zinc(ii) complexes were also found to be effective against α-amylase. In alkaline phosphatase (ALP) inhibition studies, the HL was found to be inactive, while the complexes showed remarkable enzyme inhibition in the following order: VO > Zn > Co, in a concentration-dependent manner.

Abstract
Abstract
Pyridoxal and Pyridoxal 5-phosphate are two among the six aqua soluble vitamers of vitamin B6. They can form Schiff bases readily due to the presence of aldehyde group. Schiff bases can offer diverse coordination possibilities for many transition metals as has been found in a large volume of research till now. The coordination complexes thus formed gives insight into the active core structure and enzymatic activities of vit B6 containing enzymes. Apart from that, these complexes have been found useful as catalysts for synthesis of fine chemicals, as sensors and for their diverse biological activities.

Abstract
Synthesis of hydrazones (1a-4a and 1b-4b), quinazolines (3c·MeOH and 3d·MeOH), and hydrazone-Schiff bases (4c and 4d) is achieved by combining suitable aldehydes (2,3- or 2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde) with four hydrazides (isonicotinic, nicotinic, and 2- or 4-aminobenzoic acid hydrazide). A suite of approaches for their preparation is described: solution-based synthesis, mechanosynthesis, and solid-state melt reactions. The mechanochemical approach is generally a better choice for the quinazolines, while the solid-state melt reaction is more efficient for derivatives of (iso)nicotinic based hydrazones. Crystalline amine-functionalised hydrazones 4a and 4b undergo post-synthetic modifications in reactions with 3- or 4-pyridinecarbaldehyde vapours to form hydrazone-Schiff bases 4a-3py, 4b-3py, 4a-4py, and 4b-4py. Mechanochemical and vapour-mediated reactions are followed by ex situ powder X-ray diffraction and IR-ATR methods, respectively. The chemometric analysis of these data using principal component analysis provided an insight into the reaction profiles and reaction times. Azines (5a and 5b), achieved from aldehydes and hydrazine, reversibly change colour in response to temperature changes. The structures of all products are ascertained by a combined use of spectroscopic and X-ray diffraction methods. The cytotoxic and antimicrobial activities of all compounds against selected human cancer cell lines and bacterial strains are evaluated.
