Abstract
An effective strategy was developed to fabricate novel lanthanide ions–pyromellitic acid–methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) (Ln-PMA-MPEG) nano-assemblies. The amphiphilic partially esterified derivative (PMA-MPEG) of pyromellitic acid with methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) was designed and synthesized via the coupling reaction. Ln-PMA-MPEG nano-assemblies were rapidly fabricated using PMA-MPEG as a polymer ligand with Eu3+ ions or mixed Eu3+/Tb3+ ions through biomimetic mineralization in neutral aqueous systems. The size of the as-prepared materials could be designed in the range 80–200 nm with a uniform distribution. The materials were readily dispersed in various solvents and displayed visible color variations and different photoluminescent properties for solvent recognition. The mixed Eu/Tb-PMA-MPEG nanomaterials were investigated as ratiometric sensors for the detection of trace water in DMF and Fe3+ ions in aqueous solutions. The sensor materials can quantitatively detect trace water in DMF from 0% to 10% (v/v). The resultant materials also display a strong correlation between the double luminescence intensity ratios (ITb/IEu) and Fe3+ concentration, with a good linear detection concentration in the range of 0–0.24 mM and a limit of detection of 0.46 μM, and other metal ions did not interfere with the sensing mechanism for Fe3+ ions. The novel nano-assemblies have potential applications as ratiometric fluorescent nanosensors in the chemical industry as well as in biomedical fields.

Abstract
This paper reports a novel green procedure for immobilization of bimetallic Fe/Ni on amorphous silica nanoparticles extracted from rice husk (RH-SiO2). The heterogeneous nanocomposite (Fe/Ni@RH-SiO2) was identified using SEM, EDX, TEM, BET, H2-TPR, TGA, XRD, VSM, ICP-OES, and FT-IR analyses. The Fe/Ni@RH-SiO2 nanocomposite was applied as a powerful catalyst for the reduction of structurally diverse nitro compounds with sodium borohydride (NaBH4) in green conditions. This procedure suggests some benefits such as green chemistry-based properties, short reaction times, non-explosive materials, easy to handle, fast separation and simple work-up method. The catalyst was separated by an external magnet from the reaction mixture and was reused for 9 successive cycles with no detectable changes of its catalytic efficiency.

Abstract
A new water-insoluble bi-metallic coordination polymer was simply prepared via polymerization-precipitation of molybdenum complex building blocks with Zn2+ cation. The linker was a di-carboxylic acid consisting of two coordination sites i.e. N,O and COO- suitable for coordinating to MoO2 unit and Zn2+, respectively. Characterization of the prepared coordination polymer was carried out with various physicochemical methods which confirmed the proposed structure. The prepared coordination polymer preferentially adsorbed methylene blue (more than 92% of methylene blue after 2 min) relative to methyl orange and can be reused at least four times without any loss of adsorption efficiency. The adsorption process of both dyes followed the pseudo-second order kinetic equation. Additionally, the obtained coordination polymer catalyzed epoxidation of olefins with tert-butylhydroperoxide (TBHP) quantitatively with excellent selectivity (>99%) under mild reaction conditions.

Abstract
Five novel Ln-MOFs associated with the mixed ligands of 4-(pyridin-3-yloxy)-phthalic acid (H2ppda) and terephthalic acid (H2bdc), namely, [Ln(ppda)(bdc)0.5(C2H5OH)(H2O)]n (Ln = Sm (1), Eu (2), Gd (3), Tb (4), and Dy (5)) were synthesized under the solvothermal conditions. Compounds 1-5 exhibit the isostructural 2D layered structures. The solid-state luminescence properties of compounds 1, 2, 4 and 5 were investigated in detail. It was found that compound 4 not only detected nitrobenzene derivatives-based explosives with high selectivity, sensitivity, and recyclability, but also served as an excellent selective sensing material for Fe3+ ion and Cr2O72- ion. In particular, it is worth noting that the detection limit of TNP can reach 3.0 × 10-8 M. It was found that the free oxygen atoms of the ether bond, which function as the Lewis basic sites in Ln-MOFs, might interact with metal ions. In addition, the sensing mechanisms of 4 for different analytes were explored further.
