Application of a novel composite of Fe 3O 4@SiO 2/PAEDTC surrounded by MIL-101(Fe) for photocatalytic degradation of penicillin G under visible light. Abstract
The novel photocatalyst of Fe3O4@SiO2/PAEDTC@MIL-101(Fe) was prepared based on the sol-gel method, and its structure and morphology were determined by SEM mapping, TEM, XRD, FTIR, and N2 adsorption-desorption analyses. The photocatalytic activity of nanocomposite was evaluated in comparison with other particles as well as adsorption and photolysis processes. The effect of operating parameters showed that the complete degradation of penicillin G (PNG) can be provided at a photocatalyst dosage of 0.6 g/L, radiation intensity of 36 W, pH of 5, and time of 60 min. In the optimum condition, 84% TOC removal was attained and the BOD5/COD rate for the treated effluent was above 0.4, which was representative of the high biodegradability of the treated effluent compared to the raw sample. The findings of energy consumption showed that PNG can be easily and effectively treated by the photocatalytic process based on magnetic MIL-101(Fe) with electrical energy per order between 10 and 20.87 kWh/m3. Due to the excellent interaction between the MIL-101(Fe) and Fe3O4@SiO2/PAEDTC, the photocatalyst stability test showed a recyclability of the particles for 5 consecutive reaction cycles with a minimum reduction of 7%. Solution treated with photocatalyst under UV and visible light sources explained that the toxicity of the effluent after treatment is significantly reduced with the growth of Escherichia coli. Scavenging experiments showed that •OH radical and hole (h+) are the main agents in degrading PNG to CO2, H2O, and biodegradable and low-toxicity products. Finally, the findings of the diagnostic analysis and comparative experiments proved that with the interaction of Fe3O4@SiO2, NH2, and MIL-101(Fe), a lower band gap can be prepared for more absorption of photons and pollutant and also more and faster production of active radicals.

Abstract
2,2-bis(1H-indol-3-yl)acenaphthylene-1(2H)-ones were synthesised by the reaction of acenaphthenequinone and 2 equivalents of indole using Fe3O4@SiO2@Si-Pr-NH-CH2CH2NH2 as the basic magnetic nanocatalyst, assembled under greener and sustainable conditions in high purity and yields. Furthermore, the photoluminescence properties of 2,2-bis(2-methyl-1H-indol-3-yl)acenaphthylene-1(2H)-one were exploited for the sensing of copper ions in the mixed solvent systems comprising H2O and CH3CN in excitation wavelength at 410 nm with a detection limit of 9.5 ∙ 10–6 M.

Abstract
It is crucial to fabricate cost-effective and efficient strategies for monitoring and eliminating hazardous metals in the water supplies. Among the many techniques, adsorption is one of the most powerful and facile ways for eliminating pollutants from effluents. It is also crucial to engineering high-performance low-cost adsorbents. In this regard, herein, Fe3O4@SiO2@(BuSO3H)3 as a modified core-shell magnetic silica nanoparticle embodies good selectivity to extract toxic metal ions from aquatic media. The present work investigated the removal performance of the magnetic adsorbent towards Pd2+ cation amongst the other heavy metal ions including Co2+, Pb2+, Hg2+, Cd2+, Cu2+, Zn2+ in aqueous solution. The flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) was utilized to assess the removal efficiency of the adsorbent. Several experimental parameters including elution condition, initial Pd(II) concentration, adsorbent dosage, initial pH of the solution, and contact time were explored to achieve the optimal conditions. The data of adsorption were very well with the Langmuir isotherm model, according to the adsorption isotherm mechanism experiments. In conclusion, this study lays the way for the development of novel magnetic adsorbents with high removal efficiencies for the removal of toxic metal ions from aqueous environment.

Abstract
Magnetically recoverable nano-catalysts can be readily separated from the reaction medium using an external magnet. In recent years, chemistry researchers have employed them as catalysts in chemical reactions. The high surface area, simple preparation, and modification are among their major advantages. Pyridine derivatives are an important category of heterocyclic compounds, which show a wide range of excellent biological activities, including IKK-β inhibitors, anti-microbial agents, A2A adenosine receptor antagonists, inhibitors of HIV-1 integrase, anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, and anti-Parkinsonism. Recently, the catalytic activity of magnetic nanoparticles was investigated in multicomponent reactions in the synthesis of pyridine derivatives, which is discussed in this review. Magnetically recoverable nano-catalysts can be readily separated from the reaction medium using an external magnet.![]()

Abstract
The removal of anionic dyes from wastewater has attracted global concern. In this work, a novel Fe3O4-poly(methacryloxyethyltrimethyl ammonium chloride) (Fe3O4-pDMC) adsorbent for the efficient removal of anionic dyes from wastewater was successfully synthesized by grafting methacryloxyethyltrimethyl ammonium chloride (DMC) on the surfaces of Fe3O4. Various characterization analyses confirmed that the obtained Fe3O4-pDMC possessed numerous functional groups on its surfaces and retained good magnetic separation properties. Fe3O4-pDMC showed ultrafast removal for acid orange 7 (AO7, 58.6%, 1 min) and direct blue 15 (DB15, 98.1%, 1 min), and the maximum adsorption capacity was high (266.8 and 336.5 mg g-1 for AO7 and DB15, respectively). In addition, the adsorption process was in accordance with pseudo-second-order kinetics and the Langmuir isotherm. The mechanism underlying the adsorption of Fe3O4-pDMC on anionic dyes was mainly dependent on electrostatic interaction. This study illustrated that Fe3O4-pDMC has great potential applications as an environmentally friendly, desirable adsorbent for the efficient removal of anionic dyes from wastewater.
