Abstract
Polymer self-assembly has become a reliable and versatile workhorse to produce polymeric nanomaterials. With appropriate polymer design and monomer selection, polymers can assemble into shapes and morphologies beyond well-studied spherical and cylindrical micellar structures. Steadfast access to anisotropic polymer nanoparticles has meant that the fabrication and application of 2D soft matter has received increasing attention in recent years. In this review, we focus on nanoscale polymer discs, toroids, and platelets: three morphologies that are often interrelated and made from similar starting materials or common intermediates. For each morphology, we illustrate design rules, and group and discuss commonly used self-assembly strategies. We further highlight polymer compositions, fundamental principles and self-assembly conditions that enable precision in bottom-up fabrication strategies. Finally, we summarise potential applications of such nanomaterials, especially in the context of biomedical research and template chemistry and elaborate on future endeavours in this space.

Abstract
Synthesis, physicochemical characterization, and the enzymatic degradation of the amphiphilic miktoarm star-shaped polymers is reported herein. First, star-shaped macroinitiators, based on N,N′-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA) and glycerol dimethacrylate (GDMA) ((PDMAEMA)n-PGDMA), were synthesized. Due to the presence of hydroxyl groups in the macroinitiator core, polyesters such as poly(ɛ-caprolactone) (P(ɛ-CL)), polylactide (PLA) and poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) were synthesized using ring opening polymerization (ROP). Comprehensive degradation studies on enzymatic degradation, using a lipase from Pseudomonas cepacia, were performed. Enzymatic degradation was monitored by weight measurements and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H NMR). The fastest degradation rate was observed for the polymer with the lowest molecular weight. Amphiphilic miktopolymers may find application as biomaterials for long- or mid-term period drug-delivery systems.

Abstract
Bamboo leaf shaped poly(ethylene oxide)-b-poly(ϵ-caprolactone) (PEO-b-PCL) sheets were prepared via crystallization-driven self-assembly. By selecting an appropriate mixed solvent, the polymer sheets, with a PCL single-crystal layer sandwiched by two PEO layers, were obtained efficiently. The morphology and structure of the sheets were characterized by microscopes and diffraction techniques. As a non-spherical model particle, endocytosis of the sheets was investigated on RAW 264.7, U937, HUVECs, HeLa, and 293 T cells. The polymer sheets, just like wafers for cells, displayed a selective internalization to different cells, which showed a potential application in accurate cell targeting drug delivery and imaging.
