Abstract
Hesperidin nanoparticles (HNPs) were made for the first time employing an antisolvent recrystallization technique in a double homogenate system with positive and negative clockwise rotation in order to completely use the underutilized nutritional components in citrus peel. Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), ethanol, and deionized water were used as the solvents and antisolvents in the hesperidin solution preparation. Hesperidin solution concentration of 60.26 mg/mL, homogenization speed of 8257 rpm, antisolvent-to-solvent volume ratio of 6.93 mL/mL, and homogenization time of 3.15 min were the ideal experimental conditions. HNPs have to be at least 72.24 nm in size. The structures of the produced hesperidin samples and the raw hesperidin powder were identical, according to the findings of the FTIR, XRD, and TG characterization tests. The HNP sample had an in vitro absorption rate that was 5.63 and 4.23 times greater than that of the raw hesperidin powder, respectively. It was discovered that DMSO was more suited than ethanol for creating HNP particles. In the realms of dietary supplements, therapeutic applications, and health promotion, the HNPs produced by the ARDH technology would be a potential formulation on increasing uses for a wider range of nutraceuticals (synergistic).

Abstract
Introduction Cefquinome sulfate (CS) is the first fourth-generation antibiotic for animals, which has a wide antibacterial spectrum, strong antibacterial activity and low drug resistance. However, it is accompanied by problems of poor therapeutic efficacy. In this context, the use of nanosuspensions have been found to be an attractive strategy. The main objective of this work is to develop a new oily nanosuspension to improve bioavailability and stability of CS formulations. Methods After screening the formulations, cefquinome sulfate oily nanosuspension (CS-NSP) was prepared by mortar grinding, using propylene glycol dicaprolate/dicaprate (Labrafac™ PG) as oil medium and caprylocaproyl polyoxyl-8 glycerides (Labrasol®) as stabilizer. The properties of CS-NSP were investigated by testing its physicochemical characteristics, stability, in vitro release, hemolysis, and muscle irritation. The in vivo pharmacokinetics of CS-NSP was studied using rats. Results Results show that CS-NSP presents suitable stability, physicochemical properties and safety. Moreover, a rapid release and high bioavailability of CS-NSP have also been verified in the study. Pharmacokinetic experiments in vivo showed that the bioavailability of CS-NSP was about 1.6 times that of commercial cefquinome sulfate injection (CS-INJ, Chuangdao®) (p<0.01). These advantages of CS-NSP were carried out by small particle size and low viscosity, being associated with the use of Labrafac PG and stabilizer Labrasol. Conclusion The results proved that the new preparation is safe and effective and is expected to become a promising veterinary nanodelivery system.

Abstract
In this study, daidzein microparticles (DMP) were prepared using an improved ultrasound-assisted antisolvent precipitation method. Preliminary experiments were conducted using six single-factor experiments, and principal component analysis (PCA) was adopted to obtain the three staple elements of the ultrasonic power, solution concentration, and nozzle diameter. The response surface Box-Behnken (BBD) design was used to optimize the level of the above factors. The optimal preparation conditions of the DMP were obtained as follows: the flow rate was 4 mL/min, the concentration of the daidzein solution was 16 mg/mL, the ratio of antisolvent to solvent (liquid-to-liquid ratio) was 9, the nozzle diameter was 300 μm, the ultrasonic power was 180 W (665 W/L), and the system speed was 760 r/min. The minimum average particle size of DMP was 181 ± 2 nm. The properties of daidzein particles before and after preparation were analyzed via scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, Differential scanning calorimetry and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, no obvious change in its chemical structure was observed, but crystallinity was reduced. Compared with daidzein powder, DMP has a higher solubility and stronger antioxidant capacity. The above results indicate that the improved method of ultrasonication combined with antisolvent can reduce the size of daidzein particles and has a great potential in practical production.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study aimed to compare in vivo activity between cefquinome (CEQ)-loaded poly lactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA) microspheres (CEQ-PLGA-MS) and CEQ injection (CEQ-INJ) against Klebsiella pneumonia in a rat lung infection model. METHODS Forty-eight rats were divided into control group (sham operated without infection and drug treatment), Klebsiella pneumonia model group (KPD + Saline), CEQ-PLGA-MS and CEQ-INJ therapy groups (KPD + CEQ-PLGA-MS and KPD + INJ, respectively). In the KPD + Saline group, rats were infected with Klebsiella pneumonia ATCC 10031. In the KPD + CEQ-PLGA-MS and KPD + INJ groups, infected rats were intravenously injected with 12.5 mg/kg body weight CEQ-PLGA-MS and CEQ-INJ, respectively. RESULTS Compared to CEQ-INJ treatment group, CEQ-PLGA-MS treatment further decreased the number of bacteria colonies (decreased to 1.94 lg CFU/g) in lung tissues and the levels of inflammatory cytokine including tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, IL-4 (p < 0.05 or p < 0.01) in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid at 48 h. Consistently, a significant decreases of scores of inflammation severity were showed at 48 h in the KPD + CEQ-PLGA-MS treatment group, compared to the KPD + CEQ-INJ treatment group. CONCLUSION Our results reveal that CEQ-PLGA-MS has the better therapeutic effect than CEQ-INJ for Klebsiella pneumonia lung infections in rats. The vehicle of CEQ-PLGA-MS as the promising alternatives to control the lung infections with the important pathogens.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to prepare cefquinome-loaded polylactic acid microspheres and to evaluate their in vitro and in vivo characteristics and pharmacodynamics for the therapy of pneumonia in a rat model. Microspheres were prepared using a 0.7 mm two-fluid nozzle spray drier in one step resulting in spherical and smooth microspheres of uniform size (9.8 ± 3.6 μm). The encapsulation efficiency and drug loading of cefquinome were 91.6 ± 2.6% and 18.7 ± 1.2%, respectively. In vitro release of cefquinome from the microspheres was sustained for 36 h. Cefquinome-loaded polylactic acid microspheres as a drug delivery system was successful for clearing experimental Klebsiella pneumonia lung infections. A decrease in inflammatory cells and an inhibition of inflammatory cytokines TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-8 after microspheres treatment was found. Changes in cytokine levels and types are secondary manifestations of drug bactericidal effects. Rats were considered to be microbiologically cured because the bacterial load was less than 100 CFU/g. These results also indicated that the spray-drying method of loading therapeutic drug into polylactic acid microspheres is a straightforward and safe method for lung-targeting therapy in animals.

Abstract
An improved method of ultrasonic antisolvent precipitation was used to prepare micronized high polymeric procyanidins (HPC). Response surface methodology (Plackett-Burman and Box-Behnken design) was employed to predict the optimal preparation conditions and satisfactory mean particle size. Among seven parameters, three parameters (i.e., ultrasonic irradiation power, ultrasonic-stirring time, and stirring speed) were identified as the most significant variables using Plackett-Burman design; thus, these three parameters were further optimized using Box-Behnken design. The optimal preparation conditions for micronized HPC were obtained as follows: dropping speed of 4 mL/min, HPC solution concentration of 0.3 mg/mL, ratio of antisolvent and solvent of 5 mL/mL, precipitation temperature of 10 °C, ultrasonic-stirring time of 14 min, ultrasonic irradiation power of 620 W, and stirring speed of 760 r/min. A minimum mean particle size of 96 ± 2 nm was achieved under the aforementioned conditions. The obtained micronized HPC was analysed by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric and X-ray powder diffraction patterns. Micronized HPC enjoyed the higher quantity dissolved and exhibited stronger antioxidant activity in compared to the unprocessed HPC. These results demonstrated that the improved method has great potential for the production of micronized particles.
