Effects of bubbles on particle dynamic behavior and concentration distribution in High-viscosity liquid under negative pressure

The vacuum method is a widely adopted technique for eliminating bubbles from polymers containing particles. To investigate the influence of bubbles on the behavior of particles and the concentration distribution in high-viscosity liquids under negative pressure, experimental and numerical methods have been employed. The experimental findings demonstrated a positive correlation between the diameter and rising velocity of bubbles and the negative pressure. As the negative pressure increased from - 10 kPa to - 50 kPa, the position of the region where the particles were concentrated in the vertical direction was elevated. Furthermore, when the negative pressure exceeded - 50 kPa, the particle distribution became sparse and layered locally. The Lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) integrated with the discrete phase model (DPM) was utilized to investigate the phenomenon, and the outcomes revealed that rising bubbles have an inhibitory effect on particle sedimentation, and the extent of inhibition was determined by the negative pressure. In addition, vortexes generated by differences in the rising velocity between bubbles resulted in a particle distribution that was sparse and layered locally. This research provides a reference for achieving desired particle distributions using a vacuum defoaming approach and should be further studied to extend its applicability to suspensions containing particles with different viscosities.

"Umbrella" Structure Trisiloxane Surfactant: Synthesis and Application for Reverse Flotation of Phosphorite Ore in Phosphate Fertilizer Production

Phosphorite is generally used in the manufacture of phosphate fertilizer and plays a vital role in the development of agricultural and food production. Nonetheless, how to obtain phosphorite concentrates efficiently and sustainably has become an urgent problem. In this study, a newly designed trisiloxane surfactant, N-(2-Aminoethyl)-3-aminopropyltrisiloxane (AATS), has been prepared and utilized as an emerging collector for reverse flotation of phosphorite ore. Its collecting ability was compared with the conventional surfactant 1-dodecamine (DDA). In the collector concentration tests, AATS with lower concentrations showed stronger collecting ability for quartz. In the pH tests, AATS always performed better than DDA in the acidic or alkaline condition. In bench-scale flotation experiments, the P₂O₅ recovery of phosphorite concentrates with 150 g/t AATS was 10.77% higher than that with 300 g/t DDA, which proved that AATS can be applied to the sustainable production of phosphorite concentrates. For a 4000 t/d phosphorite ore processing plant, the profit could be increased 7,014,702.07 USD every year by using AATS as the collector. Therefore, this work provides a promising approach to enhance the production efficiency of phosphate fertilizer and to promote the sustainable development of agriculture.

Extraction of Phosphorous from a Phosphorous-Containing Vanadium Titano-Magnetite Tailings by Direct Flotation

In this study, there is 1.42% P2O5 in the P-containing V-Ti magnetite tailings in Miyi Region of China, with the valuable minerals mainly including apatite, and aluminosilicate minerals as the main gangue components. The direction flotation process was used to recover phosphorous from the low-grade phosphorous-bearing V-Ti magnetite tailings. The results showed that an optimized phosphorous concentrate with a P2O5 grade of 31.35% and P2O5 recovery of 88.02% was obtained by flotation process of one roughing, three scavengings, and three cleanings under roughing conditions, which employed pulp pH of 9, grinding fineness of <0.039 mm occupying 90%, flotation concentration of 25%, and dosages of carboxymethylcellulose, oxidized paraffin wax soap, and pine oil of 400 g/t, 300 g/t, and 20 g/t, respectively. Optimized one scavenging, two scavenging, and three scavenging conditions used a pulp pH of 9, and dosages of carboxymethylcellulose, oxidized paraffin wax soap, and pine oil of 200 g/t, 150 g/t, 10 g/t; 100 g/t, 75 g/t, and 5 g/t; and 100 g/t, 75 g/t, and 5 g/t, respectively. Optimized one cleaning, two cleaning, and three cleaning condition dosages of carboxymethylcellulose of 100 g/t, 50 g/t, and 25 g/t, respectively. Study of analysis and characterization of phosphorous concentrate by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) show that most gangue minerals enter the flotation tailings, the main minerals in phosphorous concentrate are apatite, olivine, and feldspar.
