Abstract
BACKGROUND With Iran facing an epidemic in substance use disorders, nursing students are increasingly encountering people impacted by substance misuse. Providing care for this group brings with it many barriers and challenges. These serious barriers have not been a priority in Iranian nurse education. OBJECTIVES To describe barriers to providing quality care for people with substance use disorders from the perspective of nursing students. DESIGN A descriptive qualitative study, using content analysis was used to address the study aim. SETTING AND PARTICIPANTS Purposive sampling was used to recruit participants. Participants were 34 baccalaureate nursing students from different academic semesters studying at two medical sciences universities in Iran. METHODS Data were collected using semi-structured interviews from July 2022 to October 2022. Granheim & Lundman's method for qualitative content analysis was used to analyze data. RESULTS The barriers to providing quality care for people with substance use disorders were described through the major theme: "lack of communication skills and difficulty finding language for therapeutic communication with people with substance use disorders". Based on nursing student perspectives, a lack of communication and language for therapeutic communication was described through the three barriers of: 1. "possessing or witnessing prejudiced attitudes and stereotypes", 2 "negative role models", and 3. "Knowledge deficit in self or others". CONCLUSION The result of this study showed that nursing students interact with people with substance use disorders through prejudiced attitudes, negative stereotypes, and knowledge deficits. Academic education should include practical techniques to reduce negative stereotypes and moral distress among nursing students as well as strategies to manage tough ethical situations and decrease prejudiced attitudes. Nurses and clinical educators must be attentive to their power to influence nursing students and should model appropriate unbiased behavior and language.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To describe the design, implementation, and revision of a rubric used in assessing professionalism that was in alignment with Council on Chiropractic Education meta-competency 5 (professional ethics and jurisprudence, curricular objective C: Expected professional conduct). METHODS The rubric was designed using a grading scale from 0 to 5 by which students needed to meet all criteria to earn full points for each defined dimension of professionalism. A comments section allowed for explanation of deductions and/or comments on exceptional behavior. Comments on professionalism were collected in a log during the trimester and used to populate the rubric. After initial use, the rubric was revised to incorporate criteria that had not initially been included and to allow for greater point deductions for multiple/repeat infractions or egregious behavior. Feedback from other faculty members was also gathered during in-service presentations of the rubric and taken into consideration. Professionalism score was 10% of the course grade. RESULTS From 2016 to 2020, the average professionalism grade changed from 95.6% to 98.9%. A review of the frequency distributions of average professionalism grades in a calendar year showed that some students were earning grades between 70% and 79%. Only achieving 70% to 75% of the professionalism grade affected the final course grade by 2.5% to 3.0%. CONCLUSION In training chiropractic students on expected behaviors related to professionalism, a rubric assessment of professionalism guided communications between the clinical educator and students to discuss professionalism and remediate unprofessional behaviors. A rubric defining expected classroom behaviors aligns with educational best practices to use assessment methods to develop professionalism in health care students.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Academic burnout is a common issue that interferes with the role shift from nursing students to qualified nurses and aggravates a shortage of workforce in global healthcare system. According to the Areas of Worklife Scale, developed by Maslach and Leiter, there are six dimensions that encompass the major antecedents of burnout. Therefore, it's well worth an exploration to understand academic burnout and its' underlying mechanism based on the theoretical instrument. Specifically, academic burnout, professional attitude, academic self-efficacy and smartphone addiction were selected as observation variables after widely literature review. OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study is to examine academic burnout and figure out the relationships between academic burnout, professional attitude, academic self-efficacy and smartphone addiction among nursing students. DESIGN A cross-sectional study. SETTING The study was conducted in a nursing department in Anhui province in eastern China. PARTICIPANTS 1445 nursing students. METHODS Academic burnout, professional attitude, academic self-efficacy and smartphone addiction of participants were measured using online questionnaires with a supportive platform called "wenjuanxing". Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlations, and path analysis. RESULTS Of all the participants, 44.26 % had a certain degree of academic burnout. Professional attitude and academic self-efficacy were negatively related to academic burnout. Smartphone addiction was positively associated with academic burnout. Meanwhile, academic self-efficacy and smartphone addiction partly mediated the effect of professional attitude on academic burnout. CONCLUSION The compound strategies targeted at boosting positive professional attitude, fostering academic self-efficacy, and controlling the smartphone addiction are warranted for decreasing academic burnout.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study aimed to determine the relationship between nursing students' professional attitudes and caring behaviors. DESIGN AND METHODS The research is a cross-sectional, descriptive, and correlational study. The study was conducted with 202 nursing students. The participation rate was 95%. FINDINGS The total Instrument of Professional Attitude for Student Nurses mean score was 106.708 ± 20.24 and the Caring Behaviors Inventory-24 mean score of the nursing students was 5.23 ± 0.88. A positive weak correlation was found between total Instrument of Professional Attitude for Student Nurses scores and sub-dimension scores, and Caring Behaviors Inventory-24 total scores of nursing students (p < .05). PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS The present study has demonstrated that the professional attitudes of students positively affect caring behaviors.

Abstract
Objective: The study was carried out to examine the relationship between nurses' professional values and caregiver roles.
Methods: This study is based on a descriptive correlational research design using a structural equation model. 366 nurses participated in the study. It was gathered using Nurse Promotion Form the Professional Values Scale of Nurses and the Attitude Scale for Their Caregiver Roles.
Results: The total mean score of the Nurses' Professional Values Scale was determined as 94.73±17.87. Nurses' Perceptions of Caregiving Roles Attitude Scale total score mean was determined as 62.41±9.22. According to the Structural Equation model, professional values of nurses explain 39% of the change in the value of the attitude towards caregiver roles (R2 =0.39).
Conclusion: Nurses' professional values and attitudes towards caregiver roles are at a good level and professional values of nurses partially affect the attitude towards caregiver roles.

Objective
In today's world with sweeping changes, nurses are responsible for providing high-quality and cost-benefit care, which would almost be impossible unless they achieve their high professional status. To date, no precise and comprehensive definition of professionalism in nursing has been evidently proposed. In fact, many of the previously proposed definitions are either complicated or ambiguous. Moreover, there is no consensus in the literature on an exhaustive definition for “a professional nurse.” The present study aimed to illustrate the concept of professionalism in nursing and identify its defining characteristics.
Methods
In this study, concept analysis was conducted using Whittemore et al.'s method for the integrated review. A comprehensive search of electronic, scientific databases including Eric, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, EBSCO, PsychoINFO, Embass, MagIran, IranDoc, SID, and IRANMEDEX was carried out using the keywords such as professionalism, professional behavior, nursing professionalism (NP), professional attribute, and nursing.
Results
In the present study, a comprehensive search of 11 electronic databases retrieved 5738 articles. Then, 2837 duplicate articles were removed by endnote (version 8). Based on a preliminary examination of the titles and abstracts as well as the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 1517 articles were excluded. In addition, 137 articles were removed for scientific reasons. Finally, 52 articles in English and Persian were selected. Content analysis of the articles revealed four major themes, namely, individual prerequisite, professional prerequisite, appropriate structure, and socio-individual factors.
Conclusions
Professionalism in nursing is a major, multidimensional concept according to the literature that included individual prerequisites, professional prerequisites, appropriate structures, and socio-individual factors. In fact, professionalism in nursing comprises a wide range of personal characteristics, self-regulation, professional values, striving to acquire and enhance professional expertise, professional interactions, social, professional, and legal responsibility, and creation of a sense of belonging, and professional development.

Abstract
Aim To evaluate nursing students’ professionalism attitude, it is necessary to use a validated and reliable instrument. Design This study aimed to develop the Persian version of the eight‐dimensional professionalism attitude questionnaire for student nurses (Instrument of Professional Attitude for Student Nurses). Methods In this cross‐sectional study during March to April 2017, after being translated into Persian and receiving experts’ comments face, content, and construct validity of the questionnaire were sought among nursing students. Internal consistency reliability was examined by estimating the Cronbach's alpha coefficient and stability was estimated by calculating intraclass correlation coefficinet. Results A total of 750 students with an average age of 24.15 (SD = 1.32) years participated in the study. Both exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses confirmed the construct of the questionnaire. Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the entire instrument was 0.89 and more than 0.70 for all dimensions. Also the intraclass correlation coefficient for the questionnaire was found to be 0.92, well above acceptable threshold. The findings approved that the Iranian version of Instrument of Professional Attitude for Student Nurses is a reliable and valid questionnaire. Hence, using this questionnaire to conduct studies is recommended.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIM Professional values are abstract and general behavioral principles that provide basic standards to judge aims and actions, and these principles are formed by strong emotional loyalty of members of the profession. Research was conducted to compare the career choice and professional values of nursing students at two universities in the upper Midwest of the United States and in the middle of Turkey. MATERIALS AND METHODS A descriptive and comparative design was used. The participants of the study were comprised nursing students from a university in the upper Midwest of United States and a university in the middle of Turkey. The sample consisted of 728 students in all grades. Data were collected by a questionnaire, The Nurses Professional Values Scale-Revised and Vocational Choices in Entering Nursing Scale. Number, percentage distribution, mean, standard deviation, t test, and one-way variance analysis were used in the analysis of data. Ethical considerations: Ethical approval was obtained from the Ethics Commission. Informed consent was received from the students. RESULTS The students' mean age for American students was 24.3 ± 5.6 years, while the mean age for Turkish students was 19.8 ± 1.7 years. Mean score of American students on The Vocational Congruency (a subgroup of the Vocational Choices in Entering Nursing Scale) was 38.5 ± 5.9 and Turkish students was 29.6 ± 8.9 (p < 0.05). Mean score of American students on The Nurses Professional Values Scale-Revised was 109.2 ± 12.3 and that of Turkish students was 101.6 ± 17.0. CONCLUSION This study concluded that the majority of nursing students had high professional values, and when students' scores were compared, American students had higher professional values, and in career choice, they considered primarily fitness of the profession to themselves and their goals, while Turkish students primarily thought of their living conditions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Professional attitude is of great importance for nursing talents in the modern society. To develop an effective educational program for student nurses in China, an appropriate instrument is required for the assessment of their professional attitude. OBJECTIVE To assess the validity and reliability of the Instrument of Professional Attitude for Student Nurses (IPASN) in Chinese version. METHODS The original version of IPASN was translated through Brislin model (translation, back translation, culture adaption and pilot study) with the authorization from the developer. A total of 681 nursing students were chosen by stratified convenience sampling to assess construct validity using exploratory factor analysis (EFA). Besides, item analysis, Cronbach's alpha coefficients, test-retest reliability were conducted to test the psychometric properties in this part. A total of 204 nursing undergraduate trainees were selected by cluster convenience sampling to confirm the structure using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) in another time. RESULTS Corrected item-total correlations, alpha if item deleted were between 0.33 and 0.69, 0.906 and 0.913, respectively, indicating no item should be deleted. Cronbach alpha value was 0.91 for the total scale and Cronbach alpha coefficient for subscales ranged from 0.67 to 0.89. Test-retest reliability estimated from intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) was 0.74 (P<0.05). Differences in item scores between the high-score group (the first 27%) and low-score group (the last 27%) were significant (P<0.001), indicating that the item discrimination ability was good. Seven subscales (contribution to increase of scientific information load, autonomy, community service, continuous education, to promote professional development, cooperation and theory guiding practice) were identified in EFA and confirmed in CFA, and explained 65.5% of the total variance. CONCLUSION It indicated that the Chinese version of IPASN was valid and reliable for the evaluation of nursing students' professional attitude.

Abstract
Background Breast feeding can enhance preterm infants’ neurodevelopmental outcome, regulate immune function development. This study aims to develop breastfeeding evaluation indicators system in neonatal intensive care units (NICU) and to provide theoretical basis for all-round evaluation of breast feeding quality for hospitalized preterm infants. Material/Methods This study was performed based on Avedis Donabedian’s theory of medical care quality. Preterm infant breast feeding evaluation indicators system frame was initially formed by using literature review, clinical on-spot observation and expert consultation methods. By using specialists meeting method and Delphi method, evaluation indicators system for preterm infants breastfeeding was verified and established. Breastfeeding evaluation indicators system were performed in NICU of hospitals in Binzhou and Shanghai. Feasibility and usability of indicators system were examined. Results Breastfeeding evaluation indicators system for preterm infants comprise 3 levels, including level 1 (3 indicators), level 2 (7 indicators), and level 3 (18 indicators). Recognition rates of importance for level 2 and 3 range from 94.4% to 100.0% and 80.6% to 100.0%, respectively. Mean of Likert rating for level 2 and 3 range from 3.31 to 3.89 and 3.03 to 3.97, which are all higher than the average value of 2.50. Kendall’s coefficient and its significance test showed that consistency of experts’ opinion for indicators’ importance is high (P<0.001). This strategy of combining qualitative and quantitative methods could be used in overall evaluation of the breastfeeding quality in NICUs. Conclusions Indicators system is feasible and is a promising evaluation tool for continuously improving breastfeeding quality for preterm infants in NICUs.
