Abstract
Cryopreservation involves exposing sperm to stressful conditions that affect cell viability. The high quality of the Azerbaijani water buffalo's by-products, such as buffalo milk, makes it a species of significant importance. Our focus is on protecting its genetic resources by preserving its sperm, as their numbers will decrease in the coming years and they are at risk of extinction. This study's goal was to ascertain how apigenin (A) and trans-ferulic acid (t-FA) affected the semen quality of Azari water buffalo bulls under cryopreservation. Pooled buffalo sperm (n = 35 ejaculations) were diluted in a Tris-based diluent also containing varying amounts of apigenin (0.2, 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8 mM) and trans-ferulic acid (2.5, 5, 10 and 20 mM). Following a freeze-thaw procedure, samples were assayed for total antioxidant capacity (TAC), catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA), glutathione activity (GSH), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), progressive motility and total motility, motility properties, plasma membrane functionality, and viability. Sixty days after insemination, the rectal examination was performed on 38 buffaloes that had undergone sexual breeding to confirm pregnancy. The results of the study show that the addition of A-0.2, A-0.4, and t-FA-10 to buffalo semen increases the percentage of intact plasma membrane, motility, and sperm viability, as well as the levels of GSH, GPx, CAT. and TAC. In addition, there is a decrease in MDA and DNA damage after cryopreservation. Furthermore, the results show that 0.4 mM apigenin significantly increases conception rates compared to the control group. The base extender of Tris supplemented with A (0.4 and 0.2 mM) and t-FA (10 mM) improves the antioxidant indices of both frozen and thawed buffalo sperm, which in turn improves post-thawing sperm quality and in vivo fertility improves buffalo sperm.

Abstract
In this study, the effects of ferulic acid (0.1, 1, ve 10 mM), tryptophan (5, 25, ve 50 mM), and L-glutamine (10, 50, ve 100 mM) at different doses added to 18% raffinose + 3% skimmed milk powder sperm extender on the freezing of mouse spermatozoa in liquid nitrogen were investigated. The combination of 18% raffinose + 3% skimmed milk powder without additives was used as the control group. Frozen spermatozoa were thawed in a 37°C water bath for 30 seconds. After freeze-thawing, motility, dead spermatozoa ratio, plasma membrane integrity, abnormal acrosome ratio, motility endurance (for 4 hours), and cell apoptosis tests were performed in Human Tubal Fluid (HTF). Compared with the control group after freezing and thawing, the highest motility and plasma membrane integrity were obtained in the 10 mM L-glutamine group with 56.6% ± 2.11% and 77.8% ± 0.87%, respectively (p < 0.05). In addition, when compared to the control group, the lowest rate of dead spermatozoa and abnormal acrosome was found in the 10 mM L-glutamine group as 26.0% ± 1.46% and 6.3% ± 1.09%, respectively (p < 0.05). The highest motility values for spermatozoa endurance were determined in the 10 and 50 mM L-glutamine groups up to the 4th hour compared to the control group (p < 0.05). In the evaluation of apoptosis in semen samples, there was no significant difference between the control, 0.1 mM ferulic acid, and 10 mM L-glutamine groups (p > 0.05). As a result, it was determined that the addition of 10 mM L-glutamine to the spermatozoa extender increased the motility, viable spermatozoa, functional membrane integrity, intact acrosome ratios, or motility endurance after freeze-thawing and could be used successfully in the freezing extender of mouse spermatozoa.

Abstract
The demand for high-quality chilled chicken has continued to increase in China. Chickens are sexually dimorphic, and to better understand the specific differences in chicken production based on sex, we examined how sex affects growth performance, carcass traits, and meat quality of yellow-feathered chickens. Male and female Xueshan chickens were used as the experimental model. Although males exhibited better growth performance, including body weight (BW), body slope, keel, shank length, and shank girth (p < 0.05), as well as carcass traits, such as dressed weight, leg muscle, and lean meat, females had higher carcass and breast muscle yields (p < 0.05). Males had higher follicle density and yellowness (b*) of the skin and better skin than females (p < 0.05). Among blood biochemical parameters, the serum content of corticosterone (CORT) was higher in males, while those of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX), total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), and catalase (CAT) were lower in males than in females (p < 0.05). The pH levels, shear force, and moisture content quality were better in male breast meat, while the intramuscular fat content (IMF) was lower in males than in females (p < 0.05). The redness (a*) and moisture content were higher in male leg meat, while the pH, water-loss rate (WLR), lightness (L*), and IMF were lower (p < 0.05). The muscle fiber diameter and cross-sectional area were also higher in males (p < 0.05). Consumers felt that soup of male chicken was better than female (p < 0.05), while mouthfeel and tenderness acceptance of breast meat were different between the sexes. These results indicate that female chickens can be marketed as a whole carcass, while males are more suitable for processed carcass products. This study provides significant insights into the production and processing methodologies of yellow-feathered chickens.

Abstract
An efficient and innovative electrochemiluminescence (ECL) sensor was developed for trace detection of cyfluthrin. The sensor utilized materials such as lotus root shaped carbon fiber (Co CNFs), cadmium selenide quantum dots (CdSe QDs), and Fe3O4 to amplify Ru(bpy)32+ signals. Co CNFs, with its large specific surface area and porosity, served the purpose of not only enhancing the stability of the sensor by fixing CdSe QDs and Ru(bpy)32+ on the Co CNFs/GCE, but also facilitating electron transfer. CdSe QDs was involved in the luminescence reaction and collaborated with Ru(bpy)32+ to enhance the sensor's sensitivity, while Fe3O4 promoted electron transfer in the system due to its large surface area. The solid-state ECL sensor achieved satisfactory signal under the synergistic action of these components. The ECL signal of the sensor was quenched by cyfluthrin, and a favorable linear relationship was observed between the sensor and cyfluthrin in the concentration range 1 × 10-12 to 1 × 10-6 M. The detection limit of the sensor was 3.3 × 10-13 M (S/N = 3). The utilization of lotus root shaped carbon fiber, CdSe QDs, and Fe3O4 in the Ru(bpy)32+ system demonstrated a synergistic effect for cyfluthrin detection, presenting a new approach for the rapid determination analysis of pesticide residues in foods.

Abstract
In order to explore the different metabolites of buck semen with different motility stored at 4 °C, the semen of bucks was collected by artificial vagina. The collected semen was divided into high motility group and low motility group after treatment, with 6 replicates set for each group. The semen metabolites of high motility group and low motility group were detected by Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS). The results showed that 101 different metabolites were detected in the high and low motility groups of bucks, of which 48 metabolites were significantly up-regulated (P < 0.05) and 53 metabolites were significantly down regulated (P < 0.05). Most of these metabolites belonged to lipids and lipid-like molecules, organic acids and their derivatives, and organic oxygen compounds, which were mainly related to energy metabolism. According to the functional enrichment analysis of the former differential metabolites in KEGG database, the top 20 most representative metabolic pathways were detected, among which the glycerophospholipid metabolic pathways changed significantly. From the perspective of metabolomics, this study revealed the differences of metabolites and characteristic compounds of semen with different motility of bucks under low temperature preservation, which provided a scientific basis for the preservation and utilization of semen of Guanzhong dairy goats in the future.

Abstract
Numerous previous studies reported that ferulic acid exerts anxiolytic activity. However, the mechanisms have yet to be elucidated. The current study aimed to investigate the anxiolytic effect of trans-ferulic acid (TFA), a stereoisomer of ferulic acid, and evaluated its underlying mechanism using in vivo and computational studies. For this, different experimental doses of TFA (25, 50, and 75 mg/kg) were administered orally to Swiss albino mice, and various behavioral methods of open field, hole board, swing box, and light-dark tests were carried out. Diazepam (DZP), a positive allosteric modulator of the GABAA receptor, was employed as a positive control at a dose of 2 mg/kg, and distilled water served as a vehicle. Additionally, molecular docking was performed to estimate the binding affinities of the TFA and DZP toward the GABAA receptor subunits of α2 and α3, which are associated with the anxiolytic effect; visualizations of the ligand-receptor interaction were carried out using various computational tools. Our findings indicate that TFA dose-dependently reduces the locomotor activity of the animals in comparison with the controls, calming their behaviors. In addition, TFA exerted the highest binding affinity (-5.8 kcal/mol) to the α2 subunit of the GABAA receptor by forming several hydrogen and hydrophobic bonds. Taken together, our findings suggest that TFA exerts a similar effect to DZP, and the compound exerts moderate anxiolytic activity through the GABAergic interaction pathway. We suggest further clinical studies to develop TFA as a reliable anxiolytic agent.

Abstract
This study investigated the effect of different concentrations of ferulic acid (FA) on the quality of goat semen preserved at 17 °C. First, semen was collected from three black-headed goat bucks using an artificial vagina. Then, the mixed semen was diluted with basal dilutions containing different concentrations of FA (0, 25, 50, 100, and 200 μmol/L) and stored at 17 °C. Sperm total motility, plasma membrane integrity, acrosome integrity, reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, malondialdehyde (MDA) content, and total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) were measured during semen storage. The results showed that sperm total motility, plasma membrane integrity, and acrosome integrity were significantly improved in the 50 μmol/L FA group compared with the control group (0 μmol/L) on days 1-5, and the level of T-AOC significantly increased, while the contents of ROS and MDA significantly reduced. Meanwhile, the goats' conception rate showed that supplementing semen with 50 μmol/L FA preserved at 17 °C for 3 days had no significant effect on fertility. Taken together, our findings suggest that adding 50 μmol/L FA in dilution at 17 °C can improve goat bucks' semen quality.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Due to lower antioxidant capacity and higher amounts of polyunsaturated fatty acids, ram spermatozoa are very susceptible during cooling process. OBJECTIVES The objective was to examine the effect of the trans-ferulic acid (t-FA) on the ram semen during liquid preservation. METHODS Semen samples were collected from the Qezel rams, pooled, and extended with the Tris-based diluent. Pooled samples enriched with different amounts of the t-FA (0, 2.5, 5, 10, and 25 mM) and preserved at 4°C for 72 h. Spermatozoa's kinematics, membrane functionality, and viability were assessed by CASA system, hypoosmotic swelling test, and eosin-nigrosin staining, respectively. Moreover, biochemical parameters were measured at 0, 24, 48, and 72 h. RESULTS Results showed that 5 and 10 mM t-FA improved forward progressive motility (FPM) and curvilinear velocity compared to the other groups at 72 h (p < 0.05). Samples treated with 25 mM t-FA showed the lowest total motility, FPM, and viability at 24, 48, and 72 h of storage (p < 0.05). Higher total antioxidant activity levels were observed in the 10 mM t-FA-treated group compared to the negative control at 72 h (p < 0.05). Treatment with 25 mM t-FA increased malondialdehyde amounts and decreased superoxide dismutase activity compared to other groups at the final time assessment (p < 0.05). Nitrate-nitrite and lipid hydroperoxides values were not affected by treatment. CONCLUSIONS The current study indicates the positive and negative influences of different concentrations of t-FA on the ram semen upon cold storage.

Abstract
In this study, the temperature-dependent chemical toxicity of three insecticides and the resulting thermoregulatory (TR) behavior of the lizard Eremias argus have been consolidated into the current risk assessment framework. According to acute dermal toxicity assays, an increase of ambient temperature from 15 °C to 35 °C decreased the acute dermal toxicity of beta-cyfluthrin (BC) but increased the toxicity of chlorpyrifos (CPF). The toxicity of avermectin (AVM) did not show significant temperature-dependent responses. Based on thermal preference trials, lizards changed their body temperature via TR behavior to adaptively reduce toxicity under sub-lethal doses, which can be understood as a "self-rescue" behavior attenuating lethal effects. However, the risk quotient indicated that the effectiveness of this "self-rescue" behavior is limited. Metabolomics analysis showed that six different metabolites (i.e., creatine, glutamate, succinate, N-acetylaspartate, acetylcholine, and lactate) contributed to TR behavior changes. Biochemical assays and insecticide residue results demonstrated that the temperature-dependent toxicity of BC, CPF, and AVM affected lizards in the three aspects of biotransformation, oxidative stress, and neurometabolic interference. This work clarifies the ecotoxicological impacts of representative insecticides on reptiles from toxicological understanding to risk relevance. This knowledge may improve ecological predictions of agrochemical applications in the context of global climate change.

Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the protective effect of Moringa oleifera polysaccharide (MOP) on ulcerative colitis (UC) and explore its mechanism through the combined analysis of microbiome, metabolome and transcriptome. A UC model in mice was established using dextran sulphate sodium. After a 21-day experiment, results showed that MOP could inhibit the weight loss and disease activity index in UC mice. The intervention of MOP decreased the expression of inflammatory cytokines and promoted the secretion of tight junctions. MOP could promote the growth of probiotics such as Lachnospiraceae_NK4A136, Intestinimonas and Bifidobacterium in UC mice. The results of metabolomic and transcriptomic analysis indicated that MOP could regulated the metabolism of polyunsaturated fatty acid and PPAR, TLR and TNF signalling pathways might play important roles in the process. Altogether, MOP could be used as a functional food to prevent UC.

Abstract
The current study was designed to evaluate the possible protective effects of luteolin against β-cyfluthrin-mediated toxicity on the primary culture of rat hepatocytes (RHs). In the first step, the exposure of RHs to β-cyfluthrin (10, 20, 40, and 80 μM) was assessed by MTT. Second, redox condition was evaluated in cotreatment of cells with luteolin (20, 40, and 60 μM) and β-cyfluthrin (40 μM) at both medium and intra levels. In comparison to control, viability was lower in 40 and 80 μM β-cyfluthrin-treated groups at 24 h and all β-cyfluthrin-treated groups at 48 h (P < 0.05). Cotreatment with 20 or 40 μM luteolin + 40 μM β-cyfluthrin resulted in a higher viability value compared to β-cyfluthrin alone at 24 and 48 h of incubation (P < 0.05). Administration of 20 or 40 μM luteolin with β-cyfluthrin led to the decrease of malondialdehyde and total nitrate/nitrite and the increase of total antioxidant capacity (TAC) values in both medium and intrahepatocyte levels compared to the β-cyfluthrin-treated group at 48 h (P < 0.05). It seems that low and medium doses of luteolin possess the potential to reduce β-cyfluthrin-mediated hepatotoxicity via attenuation of peroxidative/nitrosative reactions and augmentation of TAC levels.
