Myxoid Liposarcoma of the Breast Mimicking Phyllodes Tumor: A Case Report

Myxoid liposarcoma is an extremely rare malignant breast tumor. We report the case of a 44-year-old woman who had myxoid liposarcoma of the breast with a history of phyllodes tumor and describe the imaging findings on US, mammography, and MRI. Before surgery, the mass was considered to be a recurrent phyllodes tumor. However, using US, we retrospectively identified some differences between myxoid liposarcomas and phyllodes tumors.

Malignant Phyllodes Tumor with Heterologous Sarcomatous Differentiation: a Case Series and Review of Literature

Malignant phyllodes tumor (MPT) with heterologous sarcomatous differentiation is extremely rare. We reviewed eleven cases of MPT with heterologous sarcomatous differentiation at our institute between 2009 and 2020. Demographic and clinical data were collected from patient records in hospital information system and population-based cancer registry. Each case reviewed retrospectively for the clinical features, prior treatment history, radiological imaging, histopathological and immunohistochemical details, disease stage, outcome and follow-up. On histopathology, four cases showed heterologous liposarcomatous differentiation, three cases showed fibrosarcomatous differentiation, two cases showed osteosarcomatous, and each case had angiosarcomatous and undifferentiated sarcomatous differentiation. Meticulous histopathological sampling along with a correct histopathological diagnosis and subtyping of the heterologous sarcomatous components is essential for planning treatment modality and prognostication of patients, although there are no clear-cut guidelines for surgical management and targeted therapy of these patients due its rarity and paucity of literature.

Borderline phyllodes tumor arising in accessory breast tissue at the axilla

Accessory breast tissue is an anatomical variation which occurs during embryogenic development. It appears most frequently at the axilla. Benign and malignant processes in general breast tissue can occur in accessory breast tissue. We report a case of 76-year-old female presented with palpable, huge mass at the right axilla which pathology of the mass was borderline phyllodes tumor. Phyllodes tumors arising in accessory breast tissue is an extremely rare condition. And this case study showed more detail on phyllodes tumor which would encourage the advance in management of the disease.
