Abstract
CONTEXT The European Association of Urology (EAU) Guidelines Panel for Urological Trauma has produced guidelines in order to assist medical professionals in the management of urological trauma in adults for the past 20 yr. It must be emphasised that clinical guidelines present the best evidence available to the experts, but following guideline recommendations will not necessarily result in the best outcome. Guidelines can never replace clinical expertise when making treatment decisions for individual patients regarding other parameters such as experience and available facilities. Guidelines are not mandates and do not purport to be a legal standard of care. OBJECTIVE To present a summary of the 2023 version of the EAU guidelines on the management of urological trauma. EVIDENCE ACQUISITION A systematic literature search was conducted from 1966 to 2022, and articles with the highest certainty evidence were selected. It is important to note that due to its nature, genitourinary trauma literature still relies heavily on expert opinion and retrospective series. EVIDENCE SYNTHESIS Databases searched included Medline, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Libraries, covering a time frame between May 1, 2021 and April 29, 2022. A total of 1236 unique records were identified, retrieved, and screened for relevance. CONCLUSIONS The guidelines provide an evidence-based approach for the management of urological trauma. PATIENT SUMMARY Trauma is a serious public health problem with significant social and economic costs. Urological trauma is common; traffic accidents, falls, intrapersonal violence, and iatrogenic injuries are the main causes. Developments in technology, continuous training of medical professionals, and improved care of polytrauma patients reduce morbidity and maximise the opportunity for quick recovery.

Abstract
CASE SUMMARY A 70-year-old man underwent laparoscopic low anterior resection for a rectal adenocarcinoma after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy. Postoperatively, the patient had high drain volume output, with 800 mL of clear serous fluid being drained on the second postoperative day. Drain creatinine returned as 300 mmol/L, with a corresponding serum creatinine of 100 mmol/L. CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis confirmed a left ureteric injury with an associated urinoma. After urology consultation, the patient underwent a left ureteric reimplantation emergently.

Abstract
Lower urinary tract (LUT) injuries may occur during gynecologic surgery due to the close proximity of pelvic organs and vary by procedure, surgical indication, and route. Prevention of LUT injury should be a primary goal of gynecologic surgery. LUT injuries are more common in patients with aberrant anatomy, during difficult procedures, and with surgeons with less experience. Immediate recognition and management of LUT injuries is optimal, although delayed postoperative diagnoses may be unavoidable. Surgical management is based on the size and location of injury and should be performed by an experienced surgeon with thorough knowledge of pelvic anatomy, surgical technique, and postoperative management.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION From May to December 2019, a literature review of the urinary system iatrogenic injury problem was performed. The most cited, representative articles in PubMed, Scopus, and WoS databases dedicated to this problem were selected. Urinary system iatrogenic injuries include ureter, bladder, urethra, and kidney traumas. It is widely thought that the main causes of such injuries are urological, obstetric, gynecological, and surgical operations on the retroperitoneal space, pelvis, or perineum. METHODS The purpose of the study is to describe all aspects of the iatrogenic injure problem, under the established scheme and for each of the most damaged organs: the urethra, bladder, kidney, and ureter. The treatment of confirmed iatrogenic injuries largely depends on the period of its detection. Modern medical procedures provide conservative or minimally invasive treatment. An untimely diagnosis worsens the treatment prognosis. "Overlooked" urinary system trauma is a serious threat to society and a particular patient. Thus, incorrect or traumatic catheterization can lead to infection (RR 95%) and urethral stricture (RR ≥11-36%), and percutaneous puncture nephrostomy can cause the risk of functional renal parenchyma loss (median 5%), urinary congestion (7%), or sepsis (0.6-1.5%). RESULTS Lost gain, profits, long-term and expensive, possibly multistage treatment, stress and depression, and the risks of suicide put a heavy financial, moral, and ethical burden on a person and society. Also, iatrogenic injury might have legal consequences. DISCUSSION/CONCLUSION Thus, the significant problem of urinary tract iatrogenic injuries is still difficult to solve. There is a need to implement mandatory examining algorithms for patients at risk, as well as the multidisciplinary principle for all pelvic surgery.

Abstract
We report the case of a female who underwent laparoscopic hysterectomy and was referred to the emergency department with massive ascites 10 days later. Anamnestic background and clinical presentation suggested the occurrence of a urinary lesion, which was investigated by CT urography. CT urography with ultra-late excretory phase showed the leakage of iodinated contrast agent from the bladder dome into the peritoneal cavity, as expected in uroperitoneum from iatrogenic bladder laceration. CT cystography is the reference standard for the assessment of bladder leakage; however, this technique is quite invasive, time consuming and does not provide a panoramic overview of the entire excretory system. Conversely, CT urography provides a complete overview of the entire excretory system by means of an optimized protocol with optional ultra-late acquisition to gain adequate bladder distension and depict minor urinary leakage.

Abstract
Genitourinary structures are at risk of injury during colorectal surgery. The incidence of injury is low; however, the risk is higher in cases involving severe inflammatory or infectious processes, locally advanced or recurrent cancer, previous radiation, and reoperation. Consideration of the anatomical relationship between the genitourinary system, and the colon and rectum is crucial to avoid injuries. Intraoperative diagnostic techniques such as intravenous pyelogram (IVP), fluoroscopic cystogram, or retrograde urethrogram can aid in identifying suspected injuries. Early recognition and repair of injuries decrease the morbidity of an injury. Repair of injuries depends on the location and extent of the injury. Simple injuries may be repaired primarily, while complex injuries may require more advanced repairs such as a flap reconstruction.

Abstract
Nephrolithiasis is the most common condition involving the ureters. However, various other entities can affect the ureters, albeit less frequently. Imaging plays a crucial role in diagnosis, management, and follow-up of ureteral pathology. In the past decade, computed tomography urography has replaced traditional methods of ureteral imaging due to its high spatial resolution, multiplanar imaging, and rapid acquisition time. More recently, magnetic resonance urography has also been explored in evaluating ureteral abnormalities. In this review, we briefly discuss current imaging techniques used in assessment of the ureters and present a diverse group of diseases affecting the ureters. We begin with primary and secondary ureteral malignancies, followed by uncommon infectious/inflammatory diseases that can involve the ureters including tuberculosis, xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis, and graft-versus-host disease. We then discuss the imaging characteristics of endometriosis and retroperitoneal fibrosis as two important examples of pelvic and retroperitoneal processes that occasionally obstruct the ureters and present with clinical symptoms similar to that of renal stones. We end with a brief discussion of miscellaneous conditions that affect the ureters, including ureteral hemorrhage, ureteral intussusception, ureteral pseudodiverticulosis, Malacoplakia, and ureteritis cystica. Knowledge of these entities and their characteristic imaging manifestations along with patient's clinical presentation allows accurate diagnosis and timely patient management.

Abstract
Minimally invasive gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and gynecological procedures are widely used in the clinical practice for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Complications both minor and major are not uncommon with these procedures. Imaging plays an important role in the detection and optimal management of these complications. Familiarity with the clinical and imaging features of these complications by radiologists can help in their timely detection.
