Competitive removal mechanism to simultaneously incarcerate bisphenol A, triclosan and 4-tert-octylphenol within beta-cyclodextrin crosslinked citric acid used for encapsulation in polypropylene membrane protected-micro-solid-phase extraction. Abstract
Endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs) are extensively found in the environment and severely impacting human health. In addressing this issue, the beta-cyclodextrin crosslinked citric acid (BCD-CA) had been previously employed in membrane-protected micro-solid phase extraction for sequestering EDCs from water medium; and the findings revealed that BCD-CA possessed a selectivity property. On that account, the potential of BCD-CA towards competitive adsorption of selected EDCs was investigated in terms of adsorption mechanism and selectivity property. Factors that affected the removal efficiencies such as sample pH, sorbent dosage, contact time and initial concentration were evaluated. The characterization results revealed that the carbon percentage of BCD-CA had increased by 2.04%, while the hydrogen percentage had reduced by 1.83%, signifying the successful crosslinking of BCD-CA. Besides, the amount of active BCD was calculated to be 3.2 × 10-7 mol, while the amount of carboxyl group was 2.48 × 10-5 mol per 4 mg of BCD-CA. Moreover, BCD-CA was stable in an aqueous medium with the zeta potential obtained at -36.5 mV and had a high-water retention capacity (∼150%). The competitive adsorption mechanism by BCD-CA with EDCs followed the pseudo-second-order kinetics and Freundlich isotherm, suggesting that the adsorption process was dominated by chemisorption on the heterogeneous surface of the adsorbent. Thermodynamic results revealed that adsorption of 4-tert-octylphenol had the most negative ΔG value, indicating most favorable to be adsorbed by BCD-CA as opposed to triclosan and bisphenol A, which was coherent with the apparent formation constant results. These unique properties manifested the practicality of BCD-CA as a selective adsorbent to detect and remove EDCs from the water medium.

Abstract
The purpose of this investigation was to analyze the performance of magnetite graphene oxide modified with β-cyclodextrin (GO@Fe3O4@β-CD) for adsorption of methotrexate (MTX) and doxorubicin (DOX) from aqueous solutions. Characterization of GO@Fe3O4@β-CD was carried out using some methods. The perfect conditions for the adsorption of MTX and DOX were 7.0, 45 min, 20 mg, and 25 °C for solution pH, contact time, adsorbent dose, and temperature, respectively, with removal efficiency values of 97.8% and 98.5% for MTX and DOX, respectively. The adsorption kinetic of MTX and DOX via GO@Fe3O4@β-CD followed pseudo second-order (PSO) model, while the adsorption isotherm obeyed Langmuir model by monolayer adsorption with maximum adsorption capacities of 198.5 and 204.5 mg g-1 for MTX and DOX, respectively. Therefore, it could be argued that HCl and 0.1 mol L-1 NaOH would reflect adequate elution properties for GO@Fe3O4@β-CD recovery.

Abstract
The extensive use of organophosphorus pesticides in agriculture poses a high risk to human health and has boosted the demands for developing sensitive monitoring methods. Herein, we developed a facile and sensitive method for isocarbophos detection based on the remarkable fluorescence enhancement of pyrene during host-guest interaction of β-cyclodextrin polymer (β-CDP) and pyrene. The 3'-pyrene-labeled isocarbophos aptamer could be cleaved by exonuclease I to obtain free pyrene that was tagged on mononucleotides, which could enter the hydrophobic cavity of β-CDP, resulting in a prominent fluorescence enhancement. While the target isocarbophos was added, aptamer could undergo a conformational change into a hairpin complex, which prevented the cleavage and host-guest interaction because of the steric hindrance, leading to a weak fluorescence. The isocarbophos has been sensitively and selectively analyzed by detecting the system fluorescence intensity with a detection limit as low as 1.2 μg/L. In addition, we have verified the ability of our proposed method in real sample detection from fruit extract.
