Abstract
The reaction of 3-chlorobenzo[b]thiophene-2-carbohydrazide with 4-(diethylamino) salicylaldehyde gave the new ligand; 3-chloro-N'-(4-(diethylamino)-2-hydroxybenzylidene)-benzo[b]thiophene-2-carbohydrazide. The Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), and Zn(II) complexes have been successfully prepared. The ligand and the complexes were characterized by analytical, FT-IR, 1H NMR, mass, UV-visible spectroscopy, molar conductivity, and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The FT-IR spectral data showed that the ligand adopted a tridentate fashion when binding with the metal ions via the nitrogen atoms of the imine (C = N), carboxyl (C = O), and phenolic oxygen (O-H) donor atoms. Density Functional Theory (DFT) estimations for the ligand at the DFT/B3LYP level via 6-31G++ (d, p) replicate the structure and geometry. Finally, HOMO and LUMO analyses were used for the charge transfer interface of the structure. Furthermore, molecular docking and ADME calculations were also performed to correlate and interpret the experimental results. The antimicrobial activity study illustrated enhancement in the activity of the free ligand upon complex formation, and the Cu(II) complex (MIC 25 µg mL-1) may be considered a promising antibacterial agent, and the Ni(II) and Zn(II) complexes (MIC 25 µg mL-1) as promising antifungal agents. Also, synthesized Cu(II) and Zn(II) metal complexes (MIC 3.125 µg mL-1) showed promising anti-TB activity against M. tuberculosis. Further, benzo[b]thiophene-based ligand and its metal complexes were evaluated for in vitro antioxidant activity, and in silico docking studies were carried out against Cytochrome c Peroxidase (PDB ID: 2X08).

Abstract
Recent studies show that some metal ions, injure microbial cells in various ways due to membrane breakdown, protein malfunction, and oxidative stress. Metal complexes are suited for creating novel antibacterial medications due to their distinct mechanisms of action and the variety of three-dimensional geometries they can acquire. In this Perspective, the present study focused on new antibacterial strategies based on metal oleoyl amide complexes. Thus, oleoyl amides ligand (fatty hydroxamic acid and fatty hydrazide hydrate) with the transition metal ions named Ag (I), Co (II), Cu (II), Ni (II) and Sn (II) complexes were successfully synthesized in this study. The metals- oleoyl amide were characterized using elemental analysis, and fourier transforms infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The antibacterial effect of metals- oleoyl amide complexes was investigated for Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli) and Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus) by analysing minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results showed that metal-oleoyl amide complexes have high antibacterial activity at low concentrations. This study inferred that metal oleoyl amide complexes could be utilised as a promising therapeutic antibacterial agent.

Abstract
Two novel metal complexes, that is, Ni (StmAn)2(4) and Cu (StmAn)2(5), were synthesized from unsymmetrical Schiff base ligand StmAn (3). The ligand was prepared by refluxing streptomycin (2) and aniline (1). They were characterized by elemental microanalysis, conductivity measurements, and spectroscopic techniques such as 1H NMR, FT-IR, ESI-mass, and electronic absorption spectral study. Interestingly, the study revealed metal coordination through azomethine nitrogen and N-atom of NH-CH3 of N-methyl-L-glucosamine unit of streptomycin. The electronic absorption spectral study supported an octahedral geometry for complex 4 and a tetrahedral geometry for complex 5. Particle size calculation by Scherrer’s formula indicated their nanocrystalline nature. The geometry optimization of the complexes was achieved by running an MM2 job in Gaussian supported Cs-ChemOffice ultra-12.0.1 and ArgusLab 4.0.1 version software. Based on SwissADME predictions, a theoretical drug profile was generated by analyzing absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity (ADMET) scores of the compounds. They were screened for in vitro antibacterial activity study against four clinical pathogens such as E. coli, S. pneumoniae, P. vulgaris, and S. aureus. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) study demonstrated greater inhibitory potency of complex (4) (0.024 g/L) for S. aureus relative to ligand (3) and complex (5). Studies show that metal complexes are more toxic to bacteria.

Abstract
New and stable coordinated compounds have been isolated in a good yield. The chelates have been prepared by mixing Co(ii), Ni(ii), Cu(ii), and Cd(ii) metal ions with (1E)-1-((6-methyl-4-oxo-4H-chromen-3-yl)methylene)thiocarbonohydrazide (MCMT) in 2 : 1 stoichiometry (MCMT : M2+). Various techniques, including elemental microanalyses, molar conductance, thermal studies, FT-IR, 1H-NMR, UV-Vis, and XRD spectral analyses, magnetic moment measurements, and electrical conductivity, were applied for the structural and spectroscopic elucidation of the coordinating compounds. Further, computational studies using the DFT-B3LYP method were reported for MCMT and its metal complexes. MCMT behaves as a neutral NS bidentate moiety that forms octahedral complexes with general formula [M(MCMT)2Cl(OH2)]Cl·XH2O (M = Cu2+; (X = ½), Ni2+, Co2+; (X = 1)); [Cd(MCMT)2Cl2]·½H2O. There is good confirmation between experimental infrared spectral data and theoretical DFT-B3LYP computational outcomes where MCMT acts as a five-membered chelate bonded to the metal ion through azomethine nitrogen and thiocarbonyl sulphur donors. The thermal analysis is studied to confirm the elucidated structure of the complexes. Also, the kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of the thermal decomposition steps were evaluated. The measured optical band gap values of the prepared compounds exhibited semiconducting nature. AC conductivity and dielectric properties of the ligand and its complexes were examined, which showed that Cu(ii) complex has the highest dielectric constant referring to its high polarization and storage ability.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to develop a novel nanosize drug candidate for cancer therapy. For this purpose, (S)-methyl 2-[(7-hydroxy-2-oxo-4-phenyl-2H-chromen-8-yl)methyleneamino]-3-(1H-indol-3-yl)propanoate (ND3) was synthesized by the condensation reaction of 8-formyl-7-hydroxy-4-phenylcoumarin with l-tryptophan methyl ester. Its controlled release formulation was prepared and characterized by different spectroscopic and imaging methods. The cytotoxic effects of ND3 and its controlled release formulation were evaluated against MCF-7 and A549 cancer cell lines, and it was found that both of them have a toxic effect on cancer cells. For drug design and process development, the molecular docking analysis technique helps to clarify the effects of some DNA-targeted anticancer drugs to determine the interaction mechanisms of these drugs on DNA in a shorter time and at a lower cost. By using the molecular docking analysis and DNA binding assays, the interaction between the synthesized compound and DNA was elucidated and non-binding interactions were also determined. To predict the pharmacokinetics, and thereby accelerate drug discovery, the absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity values of the synthesized compound were determined by in silico methods.

Abstract
The intermolecular interactions in the structures of a series of Schiff base ligands have been thoroughly studied. These ligands can be obtained in different forms, namely, as the free base 2-[(2E)-2-(1H-imidazol-4-ylmethylidene)-1-methylhydrazinyl]pyridine, C10H11N5, 1, the hydrates 2-[(2E)-2-(1H-imidazol-2-ylmethylidene)-1-methylhydrazinyl]-1H-benzimidazole monohydrate, C12H12N6·H2O, 2, and 2-{(2E)-1-methyl-2-[(1-methyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)methylidene]hydrazinyl}-1H-benzimidazole 1.25-hydrate, C13H14N6·1.25H2O, 3, the monocationic hydrate 5-{(1E)-[2-(1H-1,3-benzodiazol-2-yl)-2-methylhydrazinylidene]methyl}-1H-imidazol-3-ium trifluoromethanesulfonate monohydrate, C12H13N6+·CF3O3S-·H2O, 5, and the dicationic 2-{(2E)-1-methyl-2-[(1H-imidazol-3-ium-2-yl)methylidene]hydrazinyl}pyridinium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonate), C10H13N52+·2CF3O3S-, 6. The connection between the forms and the preferred intermolecular interactions is described and further studied by means of the calculation of the interaction energies between the neutral and charged components of the crystal structures. These studies show that, in general, the most important contribution to the stabilization energy of the crystal is provided by π-π interactions, especially between charged ligands, while the details of the crystal architecture are influenced by directional interactions, especially relatively strong hydrogen bonds. In one of the structures, a very interesting example of the nontypical F...O interaction was found and its length, 2.859 (2) Å, is one of the shortest ever reported.
