Abstract
The title compound was synthesized and structurally characterized. Theoretical IR, NMR (with the GIAO technique), UV, and nonlinear optical properties (NLO) in four different solvents were calculated for the compound. The calculated HOMO–LUMO energies using time-dependent (TD) DFT revealed that charge transfer occurs within the molecule, and probable transitions in the four solvents were identified. The in silico absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) analysis was performed in order to determine some physicochemical, lipophilicity, water solubility, pharmacokinetics, drug-likeness, and medicinal properties of the molecule. Finally, molecular docking calculation was performed, and the results were evaluated in detail.

Serdaroğlu G, Uludağ N. The synthesis and spectroscopic characterization of (+)-demethoxyaspidospermine: Density functional theory calculations of the structural, electronic, and non-linear optic and spectroscopic properties. JOURNAL OF CHEMICAL RESEARCH 2019. Abstract
(+)-Demethoxyaspidospermine was synthesized via the acylation of aspidospermidine with acetic anhydride, and the structure was determined by elemental analysis and Fourier-transform infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic tools and was supported by the simulated spectroscopic studies. Next, the stable geometries obtained by the conformational analysis performed at the B3LYP/6-31G(d, p) level were used for further investigations carried out in B3LYP and M06-2X functionals, and Hartree–Fock (HF) method, employed by the 6-311++G(d, p) basis set. Also, the natural bond orbital analysis revealed that the most contribution to the lowering of the stabilization energy came from n → π* and π → π* interactions. Moreover, the non-linear optic analysis has shown that the title compound can be a useful agent in the optoelectronic devices because of the optical properties. Also, the chemical reactivity tendency for nucleophilic or electrophilic attack reactions on the compound was evaluated by frontier molecular orbital analysis, and the reactive sites of the compound was shown by highest molecular orbital and lowest unoccupied orbital amplitudes and molecular electrostatic potential diagrams.

Abstract
The effect of the sulphur atom on the uracil ring was analyzed in different DNA:RNA microhelixes with three nucleotide base-pairs, including uridine, 2-thiouridine, 4-thiouridine, 2,4-dithiouridine, cytidine, adenosine and guanosine. Distinct backbone and helical parameters were optimized at different density functional (DFT) levels. The Watson-Crick pair with 2-thiouridine appears weaker than with uridine, but its interaction with water molecules appears easier. Two types of microhelixes were found, depending on the H-bond of H2' hydroxyl atom: A-type appears with the ribose ring in 3 E-envelope C3' -endo, and B-type in 2 E-envelope C2' -endo. B-type is less common but it is more stable and with higher dipole-moment. The sulphur atoms significantly increase the dipole-moment of the microhelix, as well as the rise and propeller twist parameters. Simulations with four Na atoms H-bonded to the phosphate groups, and further hydration with explicit water molecules were carried out. A re-definition of the numerical value calculation of several base-pair and base-stacking parameters is suggested.

Abstract
The chemical imidacloprid belongs to the neonicotinoids insecticide class, widely used for insect pest control mainly for crop protection. However, imidacloprid is a non-selective agrochemical to the insects and it is able to kill the most important pollinators, the bees. The high toxicity of imidacloprid requires controlled release and continuous monitoring. For this purpose, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is usually employed; infrared and Raman spectroscopy, however, are simple and viable techniques that can be adapted to portable devices for field application. In this communication, state-of-the-art quantum level simulations were used to predict the infrared and Raman spectra of the most stable conformer of imidacloprid. Four molecular geometries were investigated in vacuum and solvated within the Density Functional Theory (DFT) approach employing the hybrid meta functional M06-2X and the hybrid functional B3LYP. The M062X/PCM model proved to be the best to predict structural features, while the values of harmonic vibrational frequencies were predicted more accurately using the B3LYP functional.

Abstract
Five new thiophenes, namely,N-[(3-bromo-2-methylthiophen-5-yl)methylene]-4-methoxyaniline (4a),N-[(3-bromo-2-methylthiophen-5-yl)methylene]-3,4-dimethoxyaniline (4b),N-[(3-bromo-2-methylthiophen-5-yl)methylene]-3,4-dimethylaniline (4c), 3-[(3-bromo-2-methylthiophen-5-yl)methyleneamino]-2-methylquinazolin-4(3H)-one (4d), and 3-[(3-bromo-2-methylthiophen-5-yl)methyleneamino]-2-isopropylquinazolin-4(3H)-one (4e), have been synthesized. All of these materials brought about a reduction in the level of photodegradation of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) films containing the synthesized thiophenes (0.5%; by weight). The results obtained showed that the extent of photostabilization of PVC in the presence of an additive was in the order4e > 4d > 4b > 4a > 4c. For the most favorable additive (4e), the rate of appearance of infrared absorption bands of degradation products was reduced by around two-thirds, while the quantum yield of chain scission was calculated to be reduced by a factor of more than one thousand. It is suggested that the additives may help stabilize PVC by direct absorption of UV radiation and dissipation of the energy as heat or that electrostatic attraction between the additives and PVC may assist transfer of energy from excited state PVC to the additive, from where it can be dissipated.
