Abstract
Pork is widely consumed worldwide, and many consumers now utilize sensory evaluation techniques to determine the freshness of pork when buying it. A color-changing ink label utilizing bromocresol purple (BCP) and N-hydroxyphthalimide (NHPI) had been created to help consumers better and more rapidly determine the freshness of pork while it is stored. The ink was easy to prepare and could be readily transferred to A4 paper using screen printing technology. This study delved deeper into the impact of hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) on the functional properties of inks to enhance printing performance. The experiment demonstrated that a 1 % mass fraction of HEC improved thixotropy and facilitated the even distribution of ink on A4 paper, as confirmed by scanning electron microscopy. Screen-printed labels with varying concentrations displayed distinct color change rates when stored at different temperatures, indicating their capability to assess pork freshness. FT-IR, laboratory, and stability tests verified the ink's exceptional color change capabilities and printing attributes. An analysis using the Arrhenius equation revealed a substantial synergistic effect between BCP and NHPI, resulting in improved sensitivity and accuracy of the ink. This study offers a practical and feasible method to monitor the storage quality of pork effectively.

Abstract
In order to timely discriminate wheat with different mildew rates, a Dyes/Dyes-Cu-MOF paper-based colorimetric sensor array was designed. Using array points to capture volatile gases of wheat with different mildew rates, and output RGB values. The correlation between ΔR/ΔG/ΔB values and odor components was established. The ΔG values of array points 2' and 3' showed the best correlation with mildew rate, with R2 of 0.9816 and 0.9642. The ΔR value of 3 and the ΔG value of 2 correlate well with the mildew rate, with R2 of 0.9625 and 0.9502, respectively. Then, the ΔRGB values are subjected to pattern recognition processing, and LDA achieves 100% correct discrimination for all samples, or divides high and low mildew areas. This method provides an odor-based monitoring tool for fast, visual and nondestructive evaluation of food safety and quality through visualization of odors produced by different mildew rates.

Abstract
A cellulose-based matrix for monitoring milk freshness (MF) was produced from rice straw particles (RSPs) in a 0.125-0.150 mm that was bis-quaternized to attach bromocresol purple (BP) as a sensor. Under alkali conditions, the obstinate structure of the rice straw had opened, thereby improving the accessibility of the cellulose. Bis-quaternization created more adsorption sites for BP. The maximum adsorption capacity was 97.68 mg/g. The sensors were interwoven with cellulosic fibers to form the cellulose-based label with a relatively loose three-dimensional structure via hydrogen bonds. As the proportion of BP-BCRPs was increased from 10% to 40%, the air permeability of the label increased from 3.76 to 15.01 mm/s, which increased the response to the tested gases (10.12 s for 1 mL of acetic acid). The intelligent label exhibited excellent sensitivity at pH values of 3-9 with highly saturated color changes. During the storage period, the label color shifted from blue-purple to yellow as acidity was increased from 17.24 to 19.8 °T due to capillarity action, providing a timely warning to consumers. The prepared colorimetric porous intelligent cellulose-based label is suitable for monitoring of MF.

Abstract
The sensing behavior of a thin film composed of metal-free 5, 10, 15, 20-tetrakis (p-hydroxy phenyl) porphyrin and zinc phthalocyanine complex towards m-xylene, styrene, and HCl vapors in a homemade planar optical waveguide (POWG), was studied at room temperature. The thin film was deposited on the surface of potassium ion-exchanged glass substrate, using vacuum spin-coating method, and a semiconductor laser light (532 nm) as the guiding light. Opto-chemical changes of the film exposing with hydrochloric gas, m-xylene, and styrene vapor, were analyzed firstly with UV-Vis spectroscopy. The fabricated POWG shows good correlation between gas exposure response and absorbance change within the gas concentration range 10-1500 ppm. The limit of detection calculated from the logarithmic calibration curve was proved to be 11.47, 21.08, and 14.07 ppm, for HCl gas, m-xylene, and styrene vapors, respectively. It is interesting to find that the film can be recovered to the initial state with trimethylamine vapors after m-xylene, styrene exposures as well as HCl exposure. The gas-film interaction mechanism was discussed considering protonation and π-π stacking with planar aromatic analyte molecules.
