Abstract
For addressing the challenges of strong affinity SERS substrate to organophosphorus pesticides (OPs), herein, a rapid water-assisted layer-by-layer heteronuclear growth method was investigated to grow uniform UiO-66 shell with controllable thickness outside the magnetic core and provide abundant defect sites for OPs adsorption. By further assembling the tailored Au@Ag, a highly sensitive SERS substrate Fe3O4-COOH@UiO-66/Au@Ag (FCUAA) was synthesized with a SERS enhancement factor of 2.11 × 107. The substrate's suitability for the actual vegetable samples (cowpeas and peppers) was confirmed under both destructive and non-destructive detection conditions, showing a strong SERS response to fenthion and triazophos, with limits of detection of 1.21 × 10-5 and 2.96 × 10-3 mg/kg in the vegetables under destructive conditions, and 0.13 and 1.39 ng/cm2 for non-destructive detection, respectively. The FCUAA substrate had high SERS performance, effective adsorption capability for OPs, and demonstrated good applicability, thus exhibiting great potential for rapid detection of trace OPs residues in the food industry.

Abstract
Herein, we synthesized a novel N-doped carbon layer encapsulated Fe/Co bimetallic nanoparticles (Fe/Co-NC), which exhibited superior oxidase-like activity due to the facilitation of electron penetration and the formation of metal-nitrogen active sites. Fe/Co-NC could catalyze the oxidation of 3,3,5,5-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to blue oxTMB. Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) could catalyze the hydrolysis of thioacetylcholine to produce reducing thiocholine, which prevented TMB from oxidation. Thus, a portable hydrogel colorimetric sensor was developed for on-site and visual monitoring of AChE with the detection limit of 0.36 U L-1, and successfully applied to detect AChE in human erythrocyte samples. Furthermore, this platform was used to investigate the inhibition of triazophos on AChE activity.

Abstract
Herein, a novel fluorescent/colorimetric/photothermal biosensor is proposed for aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) detection in food based on Prussian blue nanoparticles (PBNPs) (∼50 nm), gold nanoclusters (AuNCs), and an aptamer (Apt) within three hours. Briefly, a multifunctional compound, namely PBNPs-PEI@AuNCs, was synthesized from PBNPs as the loading carrier, polyethyleneimine (PEI) as the cross-linking agent, and AuNCs directly combined on the surface of PBNPs. The AFB1 Apt was then modified on the PBNPs-PEI@AuNCs to form a PBNPs-PEI@AuNCs-Apt probe, whereby when AFB1 is present, AFB1 is specifically captured by the probe. Meanwhile, the MNPs@antibody was also introduced to capture AFB1, thereby forming a "sandwich" structure compound. After magnetic separation, high temperature was applied to this "sandwich" structure compound to induce the denaturation of the Apt. Then the fluorescent/colorimetric/photothermal signals were collected from the PBNPs-PEI@AuNCs@Apt to give information on its related condition. The detection limits of the biosensor were 0.64 × 10-14, 0.96 × 10-14, and 0.55 × 10-12 g mL-1 for the three signals, which were outputted independently and could be verified with each other to ensure the accuracy of the results. Moreover, the colorimetric and photothermal strategies with this probe do not require large-scale instruments, providing a promising choice for achieving the rapid field detection of AFB1.

Abstract
A new type of durian-shaped Fe3O4@Au@Ag@Au (DFAAA) multilayer core-shell composite was prepared as an efficient surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate. The optimization process and SERS enhancement mechanism of the substrate were further explained with finite-difference time-domain simulation. The dense and uniform spiny array on the DFAAA surface had abundant "hot spots", greatly improving sensitivity, uniformity and reproducibility, with a Raman enhancement factor of 3.01 × 107 and storage-life of 30 d. A "flow magnetic detection method" was proposed to realize rapid and flexible detection of pesticide residues on the surface of different foods including fish and apple. The limit of detection of malachite green and thiram on the fish and apple surfaces were 0.13 and 0.18 ng/cm2, respectively. With its high SERS performance and good magnetic, the DFAAA possessed great application prospects as a facile SERS substrate for rapid and non-destructive detection of trace pesticide residues on foods.

Abstract
Dimethoate contaminants in food pose a threat to human health. Rapid and sensitive trace detection methods are required to keep food safe. In this study, a novel fluorescent aptasensor was developed for the sensitive detection of dimethoate based on carbon quantum dots labeled with double-stranded DNA (CQDs-apt-cDNA) and Ti3C2Tx flakes. Under optimal conditions, the aptasensor showed a good linear range of 1 × 10-9 to 5 × 10-5 M for dimethoate with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.996. Besides, a low detection limit of 2.18 × 10-10 M was obtained. The aptasensor showed high selectivity in interference samples and good reproducibility with an RSD of 3.06% (<5%) for dimethoate detection. Furthermore, the proposed aptasensor was applied to the detection of dimethoate in apple juice and tap water with satisfactory recoveries from 96.2 to 104.4%. Because of these benefits, this aptasensor has the potential and promise for detecting food contaminants in the food industry.

Abstract
Neonicotinoid insecticides (NEOs) are a new class of neurotoxic pesticides primarily used for pest control on fruits and vegetables, cereals, and other crops after organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs), carbamate pesticides (CBPs), and pyrethroid pesticides. However, chronic abuse and illegal use have led to the contamination of food and water sources as well as damage to ecological and environmental systems. Long-term exposure to NEOs may pose potential risks to animals (especially bees) and even human health. Consequently, it is necessary to develop effective, robust, and rapid methods for NEOs detection. Specific recognition-based chemical sensing has been regarded as one of the most promising detection tools for NEOs due to their excellent selectivity, sensitivity, and robust interference resistance. In this review, we introduce the novel recognition strategies-enabled chemical sensing in food neonicotinoids detection in the past years (2017-2023). The properties and advantages of molecular imprinting recognition (MIR), host-guest recognition (HGR), electron-catalyzed recognition (ECR), immune recognition (IR), aptamer recognition (AR), and enzyme inhibition recognition (EIR) in the development of NEOs sensing platforms are discussed in detail. Recent applications of chemical sensing platforms in various food products, including fruits and vegetables, cereals, teas, honey, aquatic products, and others are highlighted. In addition, the future trends of applying chemical sensing with specific recognition strategies for NEOs analysis are discussed.

Abstract
Substrate materials with high sensitivity and storage stability are crucial for the practical analytical application of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) techniques. In this work, a SERS-active substrate (Si/Au@Ag/ZIF-67) was fabricated with a metal-organic framework (ZIF-67) on a plasmonic surface (Si/Au@Ag) via self-assembly. The as-prepared material combined the properties of the abundant hotspots of the Au@Ag nanoparticles and the excellent adsorption performance of ZIF-67 for organic molecules. The synergy leads to high sensitivity of the composite substrate with a low detection limit for 4-aminothiophenol (a typical Raman reporter molecule) down to 2.0 × 10-9 M and the analytical enhancement factor (AEF) of the SERS substrate is 3.4 × 106. Moreover, the substrates exhibited good repeatability, high reproducibility, and reliable stability due to the MOF coating. The SERS signal was stable after 60 days of storage at room temperature. Ultimately, the optimal Si/Au@Ag/ZIF-67 was applied as a SERS sensor to analyze thiram, and the results showed a linear concentration range from 10-7 to 10-5 M with good linearity (R2 = 0.9934). The recoveries of thiram in spiked apple juice were in the range of 95.7-102.3%, with relative standard deviations less than 4.3%. These results predict that the proposed SERS substrates may hold great potential for the detection of environmental and food pollution in practical applications.

Abstract
In this work, a boronate affinity-functionalized hierarchical mesoporous metal-organic framework adsorbent with boronate sites only in the small mesopore has been structured based on UiO-66@Fe3O4. The introduction of large mesopores in the adsorbent can promote the diffusion of small cis-diol-containing compounds (cis-diols) into small mesopore channels, and the removal of the adsorption sites on the external surface of materials and in large mesopores can enhance the size-exclusion effect of the adsorbent. In addition, the adsorbent has faster adsorption kinetics and excellent selectivity to small cis-diols. Finally, a magnetic dispersive solid-phase extraction coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography was established for the enrichment and detection of nucleotides in plasma. Four nucleotides achieve the recoveries from 93.25 to 118.79%, the limits of detection from 0.35 to 1.26 ng·mL-1, and the intra-day and inter-day relative standard deviations of less than 10.2%. In conclusion, this method can be directly used for the detection of small cis-diol targets in complex biological samples without protein precipitation prior to the extraction.

Abstract
In this study, surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) combined with chemometric methods were developed for qualitative and quantitative analysis of four benzimidazole (BMZs) residues in corn. Sulfhydryl functionalized Fe3O4@SiO2@Ag-SH magnetic SERS substrates were prepared to obtain the SERS spectra of four BMZs for chemometric analysis. The partial least squares regression discrimination analysis (PLS-DA) model performed best, with a recall rate upwards 99.17%, and could successfully distinguish four BMZs. Under the support vector machine regression (SVR) model, the detection limits of carbendazim, benomyl, thiophanate-methyl and thiabendazole were 0.055 mg/L, 0.056 mg/L, 0.067 mg/L and 0.093 mg/L, respectively; the average recovery was in the range of 85.6%-107.5%. Furthermore, the method verified by HPLC, and the results showed that there was no significant difference between two methods (p > 0.05). Therefore, the strategy based on SERS coupling chemometrics can be served as a promising tool for rapid determination of BMZs residues in food.
