Abstract
The impact of dietary lipid type on DDTr (DDT and its metabolites) relative bioavailability (RBA) in soil was investigated using an in vivo mouse model and in vitro assays. Three different lipids were long chain triglycerides (LCT), medium chain triglycerides (MCT), and short chain triglycerides (SCT). DDTr-RBA markedly (p < 0.05) increased from 51.3 ± 10.8% (control) to 94.6 ± 15.9% (10% w/w LCT) and 112 ± 20.8% (20% LCT) in LCT amended treatments. A significant increase in DDTr-RBA (92.2 ± 9.84%, p < 0.05) was also observed when mice were administered diets containing 20% MCT; however, no influence on DDTr-RBA was observed for SCT amended diets. Mechanism exploration showed that LCT and MCT enhanced DDTr solubilization by a factor of 7.31-9.59 compared to controls as a consequence of micelle formation which promoted DDTr mobilization from soil. LCT significantly enhanced DDTr intestinal absorption via increasing synthesis and secretion of apolipoprotein B 48 (32.2 ± 2.08 mg/L), compared to MCT (22.1 ± 1.32 mg/L) and SCT (15.5 ± 2.03 mg/L) treated Caco-2 cells. Mouse gut microflora analysis highlighted that LCT and MCT may increase intestinal permeability by regulating abundance of Lactobacillus, which may influence the absorption of DDTr.

Abstract
Soils are a repository for polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). A pot incubation experiment was performed with four soils (black soil, paddy soil, oasis soil, and fluvo-aquic soil) treated with Aroclor 1242 to achieve PCB concentrations of 5 mg kg-1. The soil enzyme activities of protease, phosphatase, catalase, dehydrogenase, and laccase were determined by spectrophotometry. The soil bacterial communities were investigated using Illumina sequencing analysis. The results showed that the characteristics of the test soils varied among the soil types. The fluvo-aquic soil had the greatest PCB dissipation rate (86.41%), followed by the oasis (79.31%), paddy (56.09%), and black (50.65%) soils. The soil pH, cation exchange capacity, soil organic matter content, and particle diameter played significant roles in PCB dissipation from soils. The soil type had a greater influence than PCB contamination on the soil enzyme activities and bacterial communities (alpha diversity, community structure, and composition). Among the four soils, the bacterial communities of the fluvo-aquic soil were the most susceptible to PCB contamination. However, the bacterial communities of the black soil were not changed by PCB contamination.

Abstract
In this study, a new Ti3 C2 Tx -coated fiber was synthesized and utilized as coatings for solid-phase microextraction of seven polychlorinated biphenyls. The as-produced multilayered Ti3 C2 Tx MXene was characterized by X-ray diffractometer, thermos-gravimetric analysis, scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive spectroscopy. It is noteworthy that the Ti3 C2 Tx showed some attractive features including unique 2D layered structures, large surface area, good hydrophilicity, and rich active recognition sites, endowing it has a high affinity towards the target polychlorinated biphenyls. Subsequently, the affecting parameters on the extraction efficiency of polychlorinated biphenyls were optimized. Under the optimal conditions, a novel method for the analysis of polychlorinated biphenyls in water samples was proposed. The Ti3 C2 Tx -coated fiber-based solid-phase microextraction method showed good linearity (r2 > 0.9928), high enrichment factors (268-442), low limits of detection (0.06-0.15 ng/L), and satisfactory repeatability (RSDs < 7.5%) for the polychlorinated biphenyls. The excellent method recoveries were in the range of 90.0-98.4, 92.0-98.2, and 92.0-98.0% for river water, lake water, and tap water samples, respectively. These results suggested that the proposed Ti3 C2 Tx -coated fiber-based method represents a promising alternative for the analysis of polychlorinated biphenyls.

Abstract
Human health concerns are rising with polybrominated diphenyl ethers' (PBDEs) analogues, methoxylated and hydroxylated PBDEs (MeO-PBDEs and OH-PBDEs), due to their occurrences in foods and greater potential toxicological effects than PBDEs. While the oral bioaccessibilities (BA%) of PBDEs in foods are available, such information on MeO-PBDEs and OH-PBDEs, and the effects of cooking on them have not been adequately addressed. The present study was conducted with fish and chicken egg as typical foods to assess the bioaccessibility (BA%) of PBDEs, MeO-PBDEs, and OH-PBDEs using the colon extended physiologically based extraction test and examine the effects of cooking processes (boiling, frying, and steaming) on them. The results showed that thermal degradation or transformation of the target compounds did not occur during boiling and frying of fish. The BA% of individual PBDEs, MeO-PBDEs, and OH-PBDEs were 20-51% for boiled fish, 11-20% for pan-fried fish, 15-77% for steamed egg, and 42-68% for pan-fried egg. Cooking decreased the BA% of all target compounds in fish due to protein denaturation. However, the BA% of OH-PBDEs in pan-fried egg were greater than those in steamed egg. In addition, the substituent groups of CH3O- and OH- did not pose any effects on the BA% of BDE-47 in fish, but OH-group decreased its BA% in egg. These findings suggested that MeO-PBDEs and OH-PBDEs exhibited the similar oral BA% in fish to PBDEs, but the underlying mechanism for the effects of cooking on BA% of OH-PBDEs in egg needs to be further investigated.

Abstract
Incidental soil ingestion is considered to be an important route of exposure to hydrophobic organic contaminants (HOCs), such as dichlorodiphenyl-trichloroethane (DDT). Contaminant ingestion often occurs during food consumption; however, knowledge on the influence of food on DDT bioavailability remains limited. In this study, the relative bioavailability (RBA) of soil DDTr (i.e., DDT and metabolites) was determined using an in vivo mouse model in the presence of eight kinds of food including rice, egg, pork, pear, soybean, bread, spinach, and milk powder. The values of DDTr-RBA ranged from 19.8 ± 10.9 to 114 ± 25.1%. DDTr-RBA was positively correlated with fat (r = 0.71) and negatively correlated with fiber (r = 0.63) content in food. A mechanistic study showed that fat enhanced micellarization and promoted the formation of chylomicron, which facilitated the dissolution and transport of DDTr in the intestinal tract. Bioaccessibility of DDTr was determined using a physiologically based in vitro method. The addition of lipase significantly improved the ability of the method to predict DDTr-RBA, indicating that the "fasted state" in vitro method required optimization for food scenarios. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to explore the mechanistic influence of food on DDTr-RBA and provide important knowledge on dietary approaches for reducing exposure to HOCs.
