Abstract
As a typical kind of new pollutants, there are still some challenges in the rapid detection of antibiotics. In this work, a sensitive fluorescent probe based on boron-doped carbon dots (B-CDs) in combination with thermo-responsive magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers (T-MMIPs) was constructed for the detection of oxytetracycline (OTC) in tea drinks. T-MMIPs were designed, fabricated and employed to enrich OTC at trace level from tea drinks, and B-CDs were utilized as the fluorescent probe to detect the concentration of OTC. The proposed method exhibited good linear relationship with OTC concentration from 0.2 to 60 μg L-1 and the limit of detection was 0.1 μg L-1. The established method has been successfully validated with tea beverages. Present work was the first attempt application of T-MMIPs in combination with CDs in detection of OTC, and demonstrated that the proposed method endowed the detection of OTC with high selectivity, sensitivity, reliability and wide application prospect, meanwhile offered a new strategy for the method establishment of rapid and sensitive detection of trace antibiotics in food and other matrices.

Dual-template magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers for selective extraction and sensitive detection of aflatoxin B1 and benzo(α)pyrene in environmental water and edible oil. Food Chem 2024; 459:140234. [PMID: 38991449 DOI: 10.1016/j.foodchem.2024.140234] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 04/19/2024] [Revised: 06/08/2024] [Accepted: 06/24/2024] [Indexed: 07/13/2024]
Abstract
The coexistence of multiple contaminates in the environment and food is of growing concern due to their extremely hazard as a well-known class I carcinogen, like aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) and benzo(α)pyrene (BaP). AFB1 and BaP are susceptible to coexistence in environmental water and edible oil, posing a significant potential risk to environmental monitoring and food safety. The remaining challenges in detecting multiple contaminates include unsatisfied sensitivity, insufficient targets selectivity, and interferences in complex matrices. Here, we developed dual-template magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers (DMMIPs) for selective extraction of dual targets in complex matrices from the environment and food. The DMMIPs were fabricated by surface imprinting with vinyl-functionalized Fe3O4 as carrier, 5,7-dimethoxycoumarin and pyrene as dummy templates, and methacrylamide as functional monomer. The DMMIPs showed excellent adsorption ability (12.73-15.80 mg/g), imprinting factors (2.01-2.58), and reusability of three adsorption-desorption cycles for AFB1 and BaP. The adsorption mechanism including hydrogen bond, electrostatic interaction and van der Waals force was confirmed by physical characterization and DFT calculation. Applying DMMIPs in magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) followed by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis enabled detection limits of 0.134 μg/L for AFB1 and 0.107 μg/L for BaP. Recovery rates for water and edible oil samples were recorded as 86.2%-110.3% with RSDs of 4.1%-11.9%. This approach demonstrates potential for simultaneous identification and extraction of multiple contaminants in environmental and food.

Abstract
In this work, a sensitive fluorescent sensor toward p-nitrophenol (4-NP) integrating magnetic molecularly imprinted materials and carbon dots (CDs) was proposed. Magnetic material and CDs derived from K3 [Fe(CN)6] and glucose were simultaneously obtained through simple one-step hydrothermal process. Introducing of molecularly imprinted materials based magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) endowed the constructed fluorescent sensor with higher sensitivity and selectivity. The significant factors affecting the sensitivity of the sensor toward 4-NP were optimized. Good linearity was obtained between fluorescent intensity of CDs and different concentration of 4-NP from 0.08 to 62.5 μg L-1. The sensitivity of constructed sensor was very low with detection limit of 0.02 μg L-1. Reliable applicability was also proved by the well-pleasing recoveries of 94.2-97.8% with different spiked concentrations of 4-NP in real environmental waters.

THE SCIENCE OF THE TOTAL ENVIRONMENT 2024; 912:169056. Abstract
Gonyautoxins (GTXs), a group of potent neurotoxins belonging to paralytic shellfish toxins (PSTs), are often associated with harmful algal blooms of toxic dinoflagellates in the sea and represent serious health and ecological concerns worldwide. In the study, a highly selective and sensitive fluorescence nanoprobe was constructed based on photoinduced electron transfer recognition mechanism to rapidly detect GTXs in seawater, using specific entrapment of molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) combined with fluorescence analyses. The green emissive fluorescein isothiocyanate was grafted in a silicate matrix as a signal transducer and fluorescence intensity of the nanoprobe with a core-shell structure exhibited a strong enhancement due to efficient analyte blockage in a short response time. Under optimal conditions, the developed MIPs nanoprobe presented an excellent analytical performance for spiked seawater samples including a recovery from 94.44 % to 98.23 %, a linear range between 0.018 nmol L-1 and 0.36 nmol L-1, as well as good accuracy. Furthermore, the method had extremely high sensitivity, with limit of detection obtained as 0.005 nmol L-1 for GTXs and GTX2/3. Finally, the nanoprobe was applied for the determination of GTXs in seven natural seawater samples with GTXs mixture (0.035-0.058 nmol L-1) or single GTX2/3 (0.033-0.050 nmol L-1), and the results agreed well with those of a UPLC-MS/MS method. The findings of our study suggest that the constructed MIPs-based fluorescence enhancement nanoprobe was suitable for rapid, selective and ultrasensitive detection of GTXs, particular GTX2/3, in natural seawater samples.
